Swift Cottage is a three bedroom quality cottage ideally placed for a self-catering holiday for groups of up to 5 in the Peak District National Park. One of four terraced former quarrymen's dwellings dating back to the early 1800s, Swift Cottage is located in a peaceful location on the edge of Tideswell, a short walk from the village centre with it's pubs and cafés. Recently refurbished and well-maintained, it provides spotlessly clean, bright and airy accommodation with quality furnishings throughout, creating an unparalleled environment with all the modern facilities required for a perfect self-catering holiday. Fittings include a quality log burner (initial supply of logs and kindling provided for full price stays of 7 nights or more, October till March), LG Smart TV (log on to use your own NetFlix or other provider), quality Miele cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, comfortable Silentnight mattresses with Egyptian cotton linen, crockery and cooking utensils by top brands such as Le Creuset and Sarbatier.

Swift Cottage has some of the best views in Tideswell, overlooking the well-kept cottage garden to the dale beyond. The cottage is well-maintained and benefits from quality wooden flooring in bedrooms and sitting room, a paved patio with teak garden furniture and a luxury bathroom with underfloor heating, a whirlpool bath and separate shower.

Free WiFi is included. Local walking and guide books, games and novels, a Blu Ray player and 32" LG Smart TV are provided in the cosy sitting room, complete with log burner.

Main access is via the shared level footpath across the fronts of two neighbouring cottages on the terrace (suitable for those with limited mobility, pushchairs, etc.), with additional private access via steps through the front garden and through the back entrance leading to the off road car park. Secure storage is provided for 3 to 4 bicycles and a barbecue is supplied for outdoor cooking on the patio.

Swift Cottage is annually assessed and rated at Visit Britain 4 Star standard, and equipped accordingly. Swift Cottage has received many five star reviews on TripAdvisor and VRBO (where we also advertise but rates are higher with service charges and booking fees), as well as on SimplyOwners..

A travel cot is provided, together with a high chair. Upstairs bedroom windows are lockable for safety with young children. The cottage is particularly suited to couples, small groups and families who are seeking that little bit of extra luxury from a country cottage holiday. Parking in the Townhead area of Tideswell is plentiful, either in the car park 15 metres to the rear of the cottage or on the surrounding roads. Minimum 3 night breaks are offered out of season (October - March, excluding some holiday periods) or as late availability, minimum 7 nights during high season (Friday changeover) with shorter last minute breaks available (please enquire).

Discounts available for two people sharing one bed/bedroom.

Up to two small- to medium-sized dogs are welcome at an additional charge of £25 for one or £40 for two (£15 for one, £25 for two for short breaks). Please advise if you would like to bring a pet before booking.

A Little Diamond in the Peaks

By Steve Cowie on 08-Mar-2024

Wonderful cottage in Tideswell in the Peak District. Great views. Very well equipped to meet all requirements. Many recent new additions to cottage such as wooden flooring, log fire (if needed), bedroom mattresses, kitchen equipment etc. which enhanced our experience. Great location for walks with no journey for us longer than 30 minutes away (walks available direct from cottage too). Local Shops, Pubs, Cafes and Restaurants within easy walking distance. Prices reasonable. Good selection of books, games, videos etc. for the children if required. Clear communication links with service provider ensured booking very easy and access problem-free. Will definitely return and will certainly recommend to others

The perfect stay

By Tanya on 17-Nov-2023

What a wonderful stay we had at Swift Cottage - from the excellent communication with the cottage owner Charles, to the perfect cottage location with beautiful views, we really did have the perfect stay away. A short walk from the village centre and easy access to a multitude of great walks for us & our dogs. Swift Cottage is very clean, has everything you could wish for on your break including a lovely woodburner, plenty of hot water, high quality kitchen appliances and a great bathroom. All in all one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in!

Swift Cottage - a perfect base to explore the Peak District

By Neil Hurst on 23-Jun-2023

A lovely well equipped cottage in a great location. We found the beds to be very comfortable and the cottage had everything we needed. Swift cottage is perfectly located towards the edge of the village with great views from the front terrace. Only a short walk to the village centre, with its three pubs, chip shop and a Co Op. We found several great dog walks just from our door step, often finishing in the village ready to visit the pub for a drink. A great place to stay, especially for those that like walking or have dogs. The next door neighbour John was extremely helpful and a mind of information regarding the village, restaurants and dog walks. I would definitely return if I visit this area again.
