This beautiful villa, set in a tranquil and private area just outside Pano Akourdaleia, was our piece of heaven for two weeks this spring. We stepped inside and felt the calm and care put into every detail of this holiday gem. We have had many villa holidays over the years but this one is by far the best, and we will be back again next year. A generous hamper was waiting for us which was perfect as we had a late arrival. The four-poster double bed with fabulous jacuzzi bath en-suite was very comfortable. All the bedrooms were en-suite and had balconies with furniture. In the kitchen we were amazed at the array of appliances, utensils, crockery, and cutlery supplied. The owners have been very thoughtful of guests' needs. The open plan arrangement of dining/sitting room/ kitchen was spacious and well provided with good furniture. There was free Wifi which we used to keep in touch with friends and family. No video or written description can say how fabulous it is outside. We went at the start of May. The rose gardens, lawns, and flaming red bottle brush trees were so pretty, and we have never seen such an array of wild life. In UK it is always a thrill to see an odd butterfly fluttering by, but here they were all around us, giving added colour to what already was a pretty picture. The centre piece was the lovely pool and an adjacent well constructed wooden BBQ area offering lots of shade. It is serviced with electrical points and lighting, and has a generous wooden table with benches. The BBQs came complete with motorised attachments, so eating alfresco was a great experience. Surrounding the villa, and seen from every bedroom and balcony, is the stunning scenery, stretching down through the mountains and valleys to the sea. It is very quiet here. You can be at one with nature. No sound of aircraft or traffic. The sky at night is a joy. We had fun listening to two Scops owls calling one another - a single note, repeated every second or two. For anyone into birding, there is plenty to keep you happy here. It was a great comfort to know that Dino and Vicky, who have their home close by, were there if advice or help was needed. They were so welcoming and hospitable. There are several tavernas and restaurants serving very good food close to Pano Akourdaleia, and supermarkets which cover every day needs. The Herb Garden in the village is well worth a visit and it serves refreshing drinks and organic cakes. This may be an idyllic quiet spot, but it is close to Latchi, Polis, and Pomos (our favourite harbour). With good roads and road signs, and a fast motorway from Paphos to Limassol, we were up near the troodos mountains in no time. The beaches, the walks, the forests and tiny villages - all were captivating. We are so looking forward to our return.
Hi Irene, Quardia has come up trumps! It is a lovely Villa with everything you could wish for and we have just returned from a very interesting and restful two weeks. The views are spectacular looking across the Valley and up to the mountains and then turn to the left and you can see the sea at Polis. It is beautifully secluded with a lovely pool and surrounding area bordered by a wonderful array of roses and three “Bottle Brush” bushes which were just coming into full bloom. The Villa itself is fully equipped to a very high standard with very new equipment and the welcome pack was as usual very comprehensive. The villa is set between Pano & Kato Akourdaleia which now have a very good road between Kathikas and the Paphos to Polis road, there are some really good supermarkets in Skoulli, Glykis & Byrons which we found to be very comprehensive and generally cheaper than the large ones in Polis. Whilst on holiday we only have Breakfast and a very light lunch in the villa, there are a lot of good Tavernas in Kathikas, Petradaki in particular was extremely good and very reasonable and if you want a traditional Cypriot meal, Pangratios in Miliou should be visited. If a massage is on your list the Akamas Health Farm at Drouseia has wonderful facilities and very competitive pricing. The small Museum in Steni is well worth a visit as it is very comprehensive and the flowers in and around the village are stunning. Quardia is a fantastic place to stay with lots of wildlife, Lizards galore both skinks and the larger “Dinosaur” variety, Tits feeding their young at the front and Swallows making their nest inside the Pergola, whilst just up the road you can hear and see Goats on their daily trek with a Lady goatherd. There is a Herb Garden just up the road which you can visit. We found loads to do and our two weeks flew by doing something new in Cyprus virtually every day even though we have been coming for over 25 years. If you are intending to visit Cyprus we can recommend Sundance as giving you that bit extra, this is our third time with them and we will be back again in July. Thank you Irene for another great vacation.
Hi Irene We both had a fantastic time, the villa was lovely. The owner's family made us so welcome they even gave us fresh lemons and eggs, hopefully we will see them again. We both have the Cyprus bug we loved it so much we are hoping to get back next year our son and his partner and grandson are talking about coming with us if they can get the time off when we are going. We've even had a hint that they would like to get married there they loved the little church in the village where we stayed. I would also like to recommend the Farm Yard in Kathikas the food was excellent and very reasonable. The two girls who looked after us, Olga and Cherry, were lovely. They gave that little extra attention which made going there very pleasant. When we come back next year we will certainly be going back there for a meal, I hope they will still be there.
