Description

La Petite Maison has been lovingly restored over a number of years by the present owners, to create a home that is light and airy, whilst retaining its character. The house is full of charm, with traditional features including original stone walls, stone fireplace with log burning stove, solid oak beams and chestnut parquet flooring - but lots of modern features too. A well equipped kitchen, with everything you could need, including a modern electric cooker with ceramic hob, dishwasher, a large fridge/freezer and even a wine fridge! There is a large collection of cookery books if you need inspiration.

Two sitting rooms, each furnished with comfortable sofas, and a dining room with large oak table and six chairs. There is a study area and desk on the first floor.

The flat screen TV has all Freeview channels, with a DVD player, and good selection of DVDs. A music centre, with iPod dock and a CD player with a selection of CDs. There are bookcases full of interesting books for you to borrow. WiFi available through the house and terrace - password details in the house.

The ground floor master bedroom has a king size bed, and an en suite bathroom, including a 'state of the art' walk-in shower with drenching shower, as well as a separate bath. A second shower room on the ground floor and 2 further bedrooms upstairs, one with a double bed, and one with twin beds, as well as a spacious landing area. All bedrooms have electric fans and hair dryers.

The lovely garden surrounds the house on three sides, and is made up of lots of amazing areas - the stunning private pool, paved terraces, grass and flower beds. The boules pitch next to the shady arbour and a small orchard. Both the front and side entrance have drives for parking, and large gates to ensure your privacy and safety. There are areas to sit for morning coffee, a lovely swing seat for quiet reading, a formal dining table under a gazebo and a gas barbecue. A comfortable sitting area under a vine covered pergola. As well as sunbeds and parasols set out by the pool, to make the most of the sunshine.

The house is looked after by a local English couple, who will ensure the house is clean on your arrival, with all beds made up and bathroom towels and pool towels available for your use. There will be a 'welcome pack' of food for you, and a bottle of Bergerac wine.

About 1 mile is the village of Allemans (a pleasant walk from the house) with a local baker, and bar/restaurant serving morning coffee, lunch and dinner. 10 minutes away (by car) is St Séverin, a larger village with a Spar supermarket (open Sunday morning) and a variety of local shops too. There is a coffee shop, bars and restaurants. And 15 minutes away is the market town of Ribérac, with a spectacular Friday morning market, and many other facilities, including two large supermarkets, banks, post office, shops, restaurants etc. A 15 minute drive will take you to the stunning hillside town of Auberterre-sur-Dronne, (named as a 'Beau Village de France') with its wonderful restaurants, and a river beach for the family. A 40 minute drive will take you to the lovely medieval town of Perigueux, the capital of the Perigord.

There are many sporting activities within a short drive, for example golf, tennis, kayaking, cycling, swimming, horse riding and lots more. There are details of all attractions and activities in a folder at the house.

Beautiful spacious home in a tranquil setting

By Siobhan C on 21-Jun-2018

We were very impressed when we arrived at the property, from the outside it looked like a little french cottage but inside it was so spacious! It was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was so well equipped (even better than my kitchen at home!) The garden, terrace and pool area were so private and quiet, we were so lucky to have some warm sunny days even at the end of October. There was lots to see and do in the area and we enjoy lots of trips out exploring the beautiful french countryside. I would definitely recommend this property, we hope to return again next summer. Fantastic Relaxing Holiday

By Michael L on 16-Aug-2017

Wow, what can I say, a beautiful home very well equipped and close to some of the best parts of the Dordogne. It was a very relaxing 2 week stay, and we certainly wouldn't hesitate to book this property again. Our children 6 and 8 years loved the pool and we all made good use of it during some very hot days! Thanks to Barry and Sue for a great couple of weeks. Review Submitted: 16-Aug-2017 Date of Stay: July 2017 Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely comments. We love the idea of the house being used all summer, and the happy sound of children enjoying the pool! And parents relaxing too. We look forward to welcoming you and you family sometime in the future.

Beautifully equipped property in a great location

By Keith on 23-May-2016

This is our second holiday at La Petite Maison. The property is superbly equipped with beautiful gardens and patio areas plus of course the stunning pool. The house was spotlessly clean with two excellent bathrooms. The location is ideal for visiting rural towns as well Bordeaux. Children can play safely as the grounds are secure with hedges and a gate. Review Submitted: 23-May-2016 Date of Stay: March 2016 Source: Owners Direct, from HomeAway
