Take a step back in time and come and stay at Darling Buds Farm, the scene of the internationally famous 90s TV series (based on the books by H E Bates) which introduced the world to the Larkins, the family that everyone wished they could be part of. Millions of us booked a date on Sunday nights in front of the television to share the adventures and lovable rogueish exploits of Pop and Ma Larkin and their family, played out in some the most idyllic Kentish countryside. Our hearts were captured by the beauty and simplistic living of the 1950s where family came first, good living a close second (plenty of food and drink for all), and the outside world was kept at arms length (Pop's money making schemes were legendary, as well as his efforts to avoid the taxman).
Pop Larkin would have loved you to drop by for a chat and a cup of tea, whilst Ma Larkin rustled up a proper spread of homecooked treats so now you have the opportunity to experience the good life for a few relaxing 'perfick' days in the heart of the Darling Buds countryside. There are 35 acres on the Farm estate to wander around and explore The Larkins never got around to tidying up the Oast so we had plenty to do to get it up to standard. It is simply stunning now, sleeping up to 8 people. There are three ensuite bedrooms on the ground floor ( either twins or doubles) with small TVs in each. Move up the gorgeous wooden stairs (with the original winch still in place) and you enter the main lounge and dining area with its beautiful beamed vaulted ceiling, There's plenty of comfy seating and a 32 Freeview TV, free wifi, and phone docking station. The kitchen is beautiful and well equipped with integrated electric oven, grill and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, plus all the usual neccesities and plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware. And, up a small flight of wooden stairs is the ensuite bedroom in the Oast tower itself. It's the room that everyone will want so be prepared to put your foot down. Gather round the family dining table and take time to catch up over dinner. There will be plenty to reflect on as there is so much to do and see in the local area. Kent has so much to offer including the reindeer centre that is right next door to the Farm. The delightful old town, Tenterden, ‘The Jewel of the Weald’ is 6 miles away with its boutique shopping and the famous Kent and East Sussex steam railway to keep you busy, plus and there are the vineyards (including Biddenden Vineyards and Chapel Down) to consider. The South of England Rare Breeds Centre, gardens (including Sissinghurst) and a plethora of National Trust homes and castles await exploration. Visit the beaches at Camber Sands or sample oysters and hire bikes at Whitstable. The high speed train to London takes 38 minutes for further sightseeing opportunites, or sample lunch in Paris via the Eurostar.
Perfick Mothering Sunday

Stayed for the weekend in the Oast House for Mothering Sunday. All the immediate family came and we had a great time. The Oast House has been recently fitted out to a high standard. The manager and staff were very friendly and made us very welcome. There was one problem that was quickly rectified which was a credit to the staff. It is in a great location if you like walks in the country. We would not hesitate to do the same again another year.
