A converted barn in the curtilage of a Grade II listed Old Vicarage.

Having rented many holiday cottages in the past I wanted to make the Old Vicarage Barn as comfortable as I could. The barn has a modern fitted kitchen with a range cooker and all the usual appliances included a small dishwasher. The Old Vicarage Barn is suitable for anyone that is happy with open plan living the kitchen and sitting room being together . On the mezzanine level you have an open plan bedroom. The bathroom is off the sitting room down two stairs. It has a slipper bath and separate shower. The whole of the barn has underfloor heating and the bedroom and bathroom have additional radiators for those winter months or for just drying the towels. There are two television in the barn, one in the main sitting area and the other in the bedroom. There is a wood burning stove for the winter months. Outside you have a choice of two seating areas. The first is next to the barn where there is a table and two chairs, whilst in the garden we have provided you with your own seating area under a pergola with a table and chairs and a bbq.

Youlgrave is a great location for walking and exploring what the Peak District has to offer. You can walk the Limestone Way, visit Chatsworth, Haddon Hall both being only a few miles away. Further afield you have Dove Dale, the Monsal Trail, Carsington Water, Eyam, Lady Bower, Castletown and this is just a few of your choices. Alternatively you may just feel like putting your feet up and enjoying a good book.

Youlgrave itself is a small village with three pubs, a Post Office, Peak Feast (selling bread and vegetarian foods and cakes) and we now have a fantastic village shop that sells most things and has a cafe.

If you would like any other information please do not hesitate to contact me on the and I look forward to meeting you. If you have any problems with the availability on the calendar just send me an email at bookings(@)oldvicaragebarn.co.uk

Kel's Review

By Kel on 31-Mar-2020

Superb stay. The location is fantastic, the property has everything you’d need including a little wood stove burner to make the evenings a little bit more beautiful. The place was clean and has some really lovely little touches. There’s a great local village shop for your essentials, a few decent local pubs and a great local bakery. If you’re visiting this area, you’ll probably struggle to find a better little hideaway

This place is fantastic. Impeccably clean and some really nice touches including fresh ground coffee and a bottle of bubbly on arrival. Comfortable bed, great bathroom and everything you’ll need for a few days away. Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Vicarage Barn. The scenery is beautiful and the place is just a stones throw from Bakewell. The barn is cosy, comfortable and well designed. It has everything you can need and more. We particularly enjoyed the log fire following on from the wet weather during our stay! Penny is a very thoughtful host leaving little bits for us such as milk and essentials but also left us some chocolates which was a lovely gesture. Unfortunately we had planned to go walking in the surrounding areas however my fiancée had broken her foot days before... There was still plenty to do and once we arrived Penny mentioned that we could have rearranged for another time which was a nice touch. We definitely recommend staying at the Old Vicarage Barn.

Unfortunately Penny was away when we came to stay, so we didn’t get to meet her. But she left great clear notes for us to access the property. The house was left amazingly clean and is a lovely place to stay. It’s got a modern feel with some great little features. And the fire place was ready for us to use and lovely to sit on the sofa with it on. The village is lovely and we had a great meal at the local pub on our first night. The area is great for some walking as well, and you can leave the house and be straight into the lovely countryside. We had the most amazing weekend away. And we will definitely be booking to come here again. Thanks Penny

We couldn’t recommend the Old Vicarage Barn more! Really beautiful space, very clean, bigger than we expected, with lots of thoughtful touches. It had everything we needed including plenty of cooking equipment and even a bottle of fizz and pint of milk in the fridge as well as plenty of books, DVDs, and CDs. The location is great and only a short drive from Bakewell village and Chatsworth House. Penny was really helpful and answered any questions we had straight away. Wish we’d stayed longer!

Lovely Barn

By Emma on 06-Jan-2017

The barn was a lovely retreat for a long weekend of walking! The barn was clean, warm, modern and very comfortable with the added bonus of a folder with local knowledge! The barn has all the basic essentials needed from oxo cubes to washing powder and Penny was a wonderful, welcoming host. P.s thanks for the cake!

Old Vicarage Barn, Youlgrave

By Alex Shaw on 25-Nov-2016

Absolutely fantastic stay at the old vicarage barn. The host has thought of everything to make the stay relaxing and even left us a bottle of bubbles and home made cake to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. The location is fantastic and the barn itself is a treat! Although we never managed to meet Penny, there was plenty of information provided before our stay. We haven't stopped recommending it since we arrived home!

Home From Home

By Jamie on 18-Jun-2015

Clean, well thought out and equipped property with some very helpful touches. The fab main garden area offers such a breathtaking view. The owners couldn't possibly do more to make our stay more comfortable & we felt assured of their availability should we have needed them (they thought of everything so we had no need to trouble them and checked in with them when passing). This is our 4th stay here which speaks volumes - we can't find anywhere else we think can match up to this property or the surrounding area. I have already been recommending this holiday property to friends & family. The village offers great amenities including butcher/general store opposite plus 3 pubs serving food (so no need to travel for provisions or food if you don't want to) and the most beautiful walks along the river in the village. A well situated property to park the car up for your stay and then explore on foot.
