Cobblestones Cottage has been tastefully decorated to combine modern comforts with the inescapable character and charm of this 18th century cottage. The cottage is located up a quiet country lane on the edge of Combe Martin village, but is still within walking distance of all amenities. With its own separate entrance, this annexed part of the owners' family home is ideally suited to families or couples who want somewhere welcoming and peaceful to enjoy quality time together.
The property sits in approximately ¾ acre, with the River Umber meandering through and forming natural boundaries to 3 distinct garden areas. You will have access to a large, secluded and fenced garden, with a patio area, bbq and chiminea for relaxing evenings 'al fresco'.
The cottage is accessed via a large covered porch, and downstairs comprises an open plan but cosy kitchen, dining and living area. There is also a large store room, plus secure outbuildings to allow safe storage for any activity related equipment you may wish to bring, such as surf boards and bikes. Stairs lead from the living room to a large double bedroom, and via this to a second bedroom (with a bed and cot) and a large family bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower.
The cottage has full central heating, and basic larder, cleaning products and toiletries are provided. There is also a games cupboard with a selection of boxed games and children's toys, plus a large selection of books suitable for all ages. All bed linen and towels are provided including cot sheets, but please bring your own cot quilt/blankets.
If you are bringing young children we can also provide baby gear including a cot, safety gates, high chair, baby bath, changing mat and play gym. Should your family include dogs, these are also welcome by arrangement. A gate leads from the far end of the garden on to a footpath, offering direct access to ideal dog walking territory.
Cobblestones Cottage offers you the perfect place to unwind and relax after a day exploring the wonders of North Devon. Please note that our changeover day is usually a Friday. However this may be flexible as we also offer short breaks, please don't hesitate to ask when you make your enquiry.
A Wonderful Spring Break In Cobblestone Cottage Combe Martin
By Harry & Gill Sivertsen on 26-Apr-2019
Cobblestone is located at the end of the village, surrounded by woodland yet only a short drive down a quiet lane from the main road.
It is so peaceful in the cottage and the beautiful garden, making it an ideal place to unwind.
The cottage is fitted with all the amenities of modern life without detracting from the original features.
Very unusual for Combe Martin there is a car parking space with the cottage. But it was a pleasure just to leave the car and walk through the village to the sea or wander through the surrounding woodland
Carol and Martin made us very welcome, we hope to go there again soon.

Just returned from our 4th stay at Cobblestones Cottage and another wonderful family holiday. Carol & Martin are perfect hosts: very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The cottage is gorgeous, very comfortable and in a fantastic location for exploring beautiful North Devon. A very special place indeed!
WOW! Totally Amazing.

What a beautiful place, inside and out.
Gorgeous gardens with stream runnng through. Immaculately kept.
The property had everything inside and was just beautiful and comfortable. Plenty of space including an amazing pantry.
Plenty of toys for kids. DVDs and even a collection of baby bath toys.
A sheltered outside area has a laundry line, sink for outside needs and little extras for your dogs needs.
A little welcome pack of wine, tea, coffee etc but the nicest touch was the fresh eggs and excellent home made loaf of bread.
There are many extras in the kitchen like cooking oil etc and many toiletries in the bathroom.
Everywhere is immaculately clean on your arrival to this gorgeous cottage
You are surrounded by beautiful scenery in what appears to be a secluded lovely quiet location. However, surprisingly you are not far from anywhere. A large Tesco is within a few miles but best of all the main beaches are not far at all.
Coombe Martin is just up the road, Ilfracombe is a short drive away. The best bay of all Woolacoombe Bay is only about 15 mins away.
You have this great privacy and peacefulness but at the same time such an amazing location for sight seeing. I would say a walkers and bikers paradise area.
Carol and Martin are a lovely couple and very accommodating.
Brody is gorgeous (their dog). So well disciplined but amazing fun to play with. Kids must love him
We cannot wait to return next year as it appears many before us do too.
WHAT A FIND!!!!

Stunning Cottage In Picturesque Peaceful Location.
By Jackie And Craig (Australia) on 16-May-2018
We had a fantastic week in North Devon staying at Cobble Stone Cottage.
The cottage has such a cosy inviting feel and pretty spacious. It is honestly the nicest and cleanest holidayrental we have stayed in and we have had lots of them. The garden is lovely so lush and relaxing prefect for alfresco dinning or a nice cuppa! We used it most days. The surrounding area and Combe Martin it’s self is absolutely lovely so many nice walks, beaches and beautiful countryside. The local pub Pack O’Cards was nice, friendly staff and a great beer garden. Our fav spots to visit were Woolacome, Lynton, Lynmouth, Clovelly and Saunton Sands but everywhere was nice. Highly recommend the boat trip from Ilfracombe up the coast so interesting and spectacular views.
Thanks Carol and Martin for being such warm welcoming hosts it was a perfect week for us.
Cobblestone Cottage, Combe Martin, Devon
By Mr & Mrs Oakey on 27-Apr-2018
My wife, 2 year old daughter and myself have had the pleasure of staying at Cobblestone Cottage over the last few years. Located in the seaside town of Combe Martin, which gives the perfect base for visiting the areas of Lynton and Lynmouth, Watersmeet, Ifracombe, Barnstable, Clovelly, and beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde Bay and Saunton Sands, and many more places of which are too many to list.
The cottage is set down a quiet lane near the end of the town, surrounded by a stream and woodland and a big beautiful well kept garden that is home to a few chickens and their lovable dog.
The owners offer the cottage with a high standard of cleanliness, comfort and space.
it has a kitchen/ lounge that consists of everything that you need, large cooker, fridge, washing machine, tv and a cosy sofa.
Upstairs has a big bathroom with separate shower, and two rooms with beds that will give you a great nights sleep.
The cottage is very well kept, and probably one of the cleanest i've had the pleasure of staying at, it is full of character and the owners are the nicest people you could ask for.
My family and I look forward to returning to Cobblestone Cottage in the near future
Lovely Weekend 13th-16th April
By Karen Adams on 13-Apr-2018
We had a lovely weekend away at Cobblestone cottage, it is a beautiful place and was perfect for our little family. Carol and Martin are lovely hosts, they left a little welcome package which was a lovely surprise. The garden is beautiful and there are lots of things to do in the local area. We will definitely be back but will stay for longer next time. Thank you

We have been staying here since 2015 and it just keeps getting better. We are always greeted with a warm welcome and the little extras, such as our welcome pack, start the holiday off in a great way.
The cottage is near enough to local facilities, but secluded enough to make you feel like you are a million miles away if you just wish to sit in the garden and relax.
We are booked up again as it really is a home from home for us now and can’t wait to get back next year.

Beautiful Cottage, In An Outstanding Setting
By Debbie K. on 03-Sep-2017
Lovely cottage with woodlands next door and 20 mins walk to the beach. Thanks to Carol and Martin for making us feel welcome and all home comforts, including some toys and books for our daughter, and treats of freshly baked bread wine and fresh eggs. The cottage was well equipped with plenty of storage space. Superb gardens, complete with babbling River Umber. Our daughter particularly enjoyed the tyre swing and feeding the chickens too. Our dog loved laying out in the sun in the porch area until he became too hot!! we all had a good time and would highly recommend Cobblestones Cottage

Beautiful Cottage, Fantastic Garden & Great Hosts
By Kathryn O. on 01-Aug-2017
We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Cobblestones Cottage in June, made even better by glorious weather! The accommodation is great; cosy, clean and very well equipped. The welcome pack upon arrival was also a lovely touch. The garden is fantastic, especially the chickens and the stream running through the middle of it. There is a lot of space, with a lovely sun-trap area in the late afternoon. We regularly used the patio for BBQ/alfresco eating and enjoyed a wine or two by the chiminea most evenings. If you sit out at night, you can often hear animals in the wildlife park further down the road; particularly the wolves and lions. The Galleon at Combe Martin did a great Full English Breakfast on the roof top terrace. We visited Rosemoor gardens, Clovelly and Lynton/Lynmouth. We also took a picnic to the small beach at Heddon Mouth, which is well worthwhile. The Sawmill pub is a short drive and has a good menu and a number of decent craft beers and ciders. We visited Ilfracombe and enjoyed excellent fish and chips from Lynbay chip shop. The Damien Hirst sculpture is worth a look at the harbour entrance and we also grabbed a drink at "The Quay" which is decorated with a number of pieces by the artist. We had a wonderful stay and we would definitely like to return. Thank you Carol and Martin. Kathryn & Jon
Lovely Cottage Set In A Beautiful Garden With Very Friendly Hosts
By Jayne C. on 15-Jul-2017
The cottage was comfortable and was very well equipped. We were made very welcome by the owners and were presented with a lovely welcome basket with home made bread, fresh laid eggs and delicious fudge. There were useful maps and guides supplied to help us explore the area. We were able to get out and see a lot of the area and had the bonus of lovely sunshine. I would recommend it as a good base for the sea and moor.

Cosy, Comfortable And Well Equipped Cottage In A Peaceful Setting
By Sharon D. on 10-Jun-2017
As a couple with a dog this cottage was perfect and had everything we could possibly need for a week in Combe Martin. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and fresh bread, eggs, milk, wine and fudge. The owners have thought of everything and it saved us having to shop for small essentials such as cooking oil, washing powder, foil etc so thanks! It was ideal for us and we visited many places such as Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Lynton and Lynmouth. We had drinks at the Pack o' Cards pub and also Ye Olde Globe in Berrynarbour and used the local chip shops aswell. Had a lovely meal at Sawmills restaurant just out of Combe Martin. Locals and other holidaymakers were friendly and we would recommend the cottage to others.
