Description
About Maison les PommiersMaison Les Pommiers is a 'maison bourgeoise' dating from the 17th century. It is built in the local stone with a spiral staircase in the tower typical of the period in the Haute Marne, at the top is the pigeonniere. The house was divided at some time so while we own the upper part of the tower, our neighbour has the bottom! There are many original features such as the flagstones on the kitchen floor, the huge Burgundian fireplaces and massive beams. Outside there is the old bread oven and in the front courtyard the old piggery.
We bought the house in 2009 in a coupe de foudre! We were sent an email saying the house was for sale and somehow even though we weren't looking to buy , two weeks later we were staying there and fell for the charm of the house and its lovely walled garden.
For us, and as many people who have stayed tell us, Les Pommiers is a special place, the house with so much character and the garden an oasis of peace. It has been a wonderful adventure for us to gradually develop and improve things, but always trying to preserve the character. We have worked hard in the garden planting a wild garden to attract bees and butterflies and putting fruit trees espaliered along the walls. We plan a bog garden which will hopefully encourage aquatic life such as the midwife toads which can be heard calling locally.
We have been lucky to have the help and support of people in the village as without them it would be impossible to let the house but we couldn't bear to have the place empty! Our aim is to benefit the local economy, we love to share the place with other people and that makes things economically more viable and allows us to put the money back into maintenance and new projects.

Leave ReviewThe house is spacious
By Brigitte Rossler on 30-Jun-2025The house is even more spacious than I imagined. The kitchen is superbly equipped! Each room has its own character. The three bathrooms are beautiful and clean. There are many lovely details throughout the house. The garden is huge, beautiful and well-maintained. Filled with many mature trees and lots of flowers and flowering plants. There's a large trampoline (we loved it) and a swing. Everything you need for a barbecue is also available. We felt truly at home here! Many thanks to Nicola and Nick Jackman for creating this magical place! Date of arrival - 7 June 2025

A week at Les Pommiers
By Anne Smith on 17-Aug-20245/5 A week at Les Pommiers The whole group really enjoyed staying here for a week in August. There was plenty of parking in the front courtyard. The bedrooms were lovely and comfortable. Two of us enjoyed playing the grand piano in the upstairs sitting room. It had a lovely tone. This room was a beautiful and quiet space away from the action downstairs. The large kitchen/dining room was the hub of the stay and was very well equipped for cooking and eatiing, also for playing games and general gathering. There was plenty of floor space for the youngsters to play. The house was very tastefully furnished. The garden was great for sunbathing, al fresco dining, barbeque, badminton, paddling pool and water sliding and trampoline. Our friend appreciated having the independence of the cosy annex. It was wonderful to have bicycles available. We enjoyed the early stroll to the little shop to collect our pre-ordered baguettes and croissants plus other items. My daughter ran with the dog every day and we enjoyed exploratory walks alongside the pretty stream plus the table tennis table, slide and boules area. We had a great trip to the outdoor swimming pool with slides at Chambord. We went to Ennoyes on market day. There was no market, however, we did enjoyed the Renoir exhibition.and house. Most of our supplies were bought from the Intermarche at Chateau Villain, 10 minutes or so away. Thank you, Nicola and Nick for renting your beautiful house to us.
