Set in a third of an acre, the house and fenced pool are totally private and a perfect venue for a family holiday, or just a group of friends getting together. Bonnet is a charming farmhouse which we have lovingly restored, keeping its character with a mass of beams and stonework. The rooms are all a good size, so there is plenty of room for 12 people, everything is in good working order, and if there is ever a little hiccup, we are only 10 minutes away to deal with it immediately.
Bonnet has six bedrooms. There are three double bedrooms all with a king size bed, the first double has an en suite bathroom which has a shower, lavatory and washbasin. The second double bedroom has french windows (well they would be wouldn't they?) that lead out on to the garden and the swimming pool, and the third double has loads of beams and character. The other bedrooms are as follows: There is one which has 3 single beds, another which has 2 single beds, and the third is a smaller bedroom with one single bed.
The house normally sleeps 12, but an extra single bed can be added, at a further cost of 20 Euros per person per night (140 Euros per week).
There is a dining room that opens out on to the terrace at one end, and which steps down at the other end to a fitted kitchen with oak cupboards. The kitchen is well equipped, and has both a dishwasher and washing machine, and a large fridge/freezer and microwave, as well as a seperate fridge for drinks. The large sitting room has a wealth of beams and stonework, and french windows leading directly out on to the garden and the swimming pool. There is a flatscreen TV which receives English satellite, as well as a DVD player, as well as a pool table and comfy seating area in the old wine chez recently converted. The three bathrooms are fully tiled, two with a shower, and one with a bath. They all have lavatories. Wireless connexion to the Internet is freely available at Bonnet. Sorry but we do not accept animals.

One of the best family hols we've had in years
By Eleanor Davies on 12-Aug-2018
Lovely place- very suitable for us , 2 families with 4 children under 5 and a pair of grandparents! each family was able to have their own area and own bathroom- all the rooms spacious and convenient. Everything very clean and all we needed in the kitchen. 2 really good large fridges- vital in hot weather. A great terrace - shady at lunchtime and a large table ideal for all your meals. The layout was great, the situation beautiful, very rural with loads of wild life: birds of prey, deer, lots of lizards, colourful dragon flies and the odd frog. Well equipped with very good cots and high chairs. The best bit was the safely fenced and delightful swimming pool which kept the children happy for hours on end. Well placed for chateaux, Chateau Bridoire great for kids, and Eymet a lovely place to mooch around and have coffee. Good supermarkets not too far away. Glorious countryside, sunflowers in every direction. One of the best family hols we've had in years.

Perfect space for a large family

Perfect Space for a large Family Holiday
We spent two very happy weeks here in August 2015. With three generations meeting up, individual space is a must, as is a washing machine and wifi (well we did take two teenagers!) Bonnet met those needs and exceeded everything else. Enough bathrooms and bedrooms for all, enough indoor space for rainy days and enough outside space on sunny ones too! The best feature is by far the beautiful covered terrace - perfect for dining, breakfasting, reading, or just taking a mid day break from the sun. Thank you Tom and Maggie for being wonderful hosts - many thanks!

Our thanks to Tom and Maggie. Bonnet proved to be the perfect setting for our family holiday: lovely, quiet location, spacious accommodation (well equipped and spotlessly clean throughout) and a great swimming pool. We loved the shaded terrace, too, for those long, lazy, late breakfasts and for wine and barbecues in the evenings. Local markets and a range of restaurants were easily accessible by car, the open roads making a mockery of any distances involved. All in all, it was just as we had hoped. We won't hesitate to recommend it to our friends and we look forward to returning ourselves.

Rented this property Aug 2007
We rented this property as a group of 8 friends in August 2007. The house is charming, full of character but well-equipped with everything you could need. In the living room there is an interesting display of photographs which show the work that has gone into renovating the house! The covered patio area with long table and BBQ is perfect for al-fresco dining and we ate all our meals there. The pool is clean and inviting, with sunloungers provided. The location would not suit those who like to be able to stroll into a village or town, as you do need to drive everywhere. However, the plus side of this is the peace and quiet (apart from when the table tennis competition was hotting up!) Bonnet's owners Maggie and Tom live nearby and were on hand to deal with any problems; and also very kindly made dinner reservations for us at 'Le Marchalerie' in Castillonnes, which we liked so much that we returned there to eat later in the week. The nearest large supermarket is in Miramont, but there is a bakery in Lauzun and several small shops in Castillonnes, as well as markets in many of the towns and villages across the week. We enjoyed days out at Sarlat, Rocamadour, Bergerac and Monpazier - there is plenty to see and do within an hour/45 minutes drive. We would thoroughly recommend this property to families and groups of friends looking for a relaxing holiday in the beautiful French countryside.
