Behind Symondsbury Manor’s mellow stone walls and mullioned windows lies a surprising discovery: a fresh, creative interior full of colour and playful charm. The atmosphere of this special place always makes for a great house party.

Up to 22 friends and family can spread across 11 bedrooms, sleeping in plump beds under white linen. Light streams into the huge open-plan living space where everyone can gather comfortably together to eat, drink and generally celebrate.

Throughout the house, there are interesting pictures, books, vintage furniture and hand printed wallpapers at every turn. Outside, there’s a couple of acres or more of gardens and orchard to explore, with chandeliers in trees and a croquet set to unpack. Beyond the old stone garden walls is the picture perfect thatched village of Symondsbury, with welcoming pub, shop and café.

Travel just a mile and you meet the sea. Along this stretch of the Dorset Jurassic coast, there are spectacular walks along cliff tops and beaches, plus fossil hunting too. A mile in the other direction takes you to bustling Bridport, famed for its street market of antiques, artisanal craft and local produce. The location of this magical house could not be more perfect.

What a glorious 50th celebration we had at Symondsbury Manor. The house is wonderful and very comfortable. You feel immediately relaxed. Quite bohemian with quirky touches. Spotlessly clean and homely too. It really was quite a magical place in a lovely setting with beautiful gardens. All our friends are still talking about the party. In fact one called it the party of the century and I would put that down largely to the location itself which was absolutely perfect for friends and family to gather. We had yoga, Gong bathing and a fully catered party. Memories to cherish. The team at Symondsbury are extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing Manor with incredible ballroom and dining/living area
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Just stayed in this incredible manor for the weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday with friends.

Firstly I found Trudi (with whom I was in contact re booking etc) extremely friendly and helpful which immediately put me at ease.

Location - SUCH a good location in such a beautiful village. We walked up to the top of Colmer's Hill (a beautiful iconic hill with incredible views) from the manor and it was such a gorgeous walk. The beach was a 5 minute drive away and we also ate at a cafe about 100m from the house which was lovely and there's a lovely-looking pub about a 2 minute walk away!

Manor - Absolutely beautiful with stunning gardens. The kitchen was amazingly well-equipped with tonnes of storage space and I think 4 large fridge/freezers with an additional wine fridge. The living room/dining room was amazing (60 foot long) and on the Saturday night we had a dinner party for 32 people and could all fit around the table! The Ballroom was great - table tennis set up in the day and then dancing in the evening - really spacious and incredible.
The bedrooms were all quirkily decorated and interesting and some very grand. Several with beautiful baths in them and a few en suites.

My only comment would be that there are very few showers (I think three - for 22 people) however there are plenty of baths!

I think the real highlights for me were the very large living/dining room and ballroom - when I researched places to stay for this number of people I didn't come across many places with such large communal areas for such a big group.

Overall an absolutely incredible weekend in an amazing manor in such a good location, I would 100% recommend and stay again!

They had a WONDERFUL time, and the feedback has been great.  They loved the Manor and the grounds and really enjoyed the local pub and coastal walks.  In short, a great success for their first ever Lab Retreat.  I owe it all to you so thank you again for being so patient, helpful and accommodating throughout the process, it was much appreciated!

Symondsbury Manor was a wonderful place to stay. The garden is just stunning, as is the house. The decor is just fab and having fresh flowers around the house made it even lovelier. When you're searching for a house for a lot of people, there are so many horrendous Footballers Wives-style places (please don't quote me as saying that on your website!) so Symondsbury was a real find! All in all the perfect weekend. I loved having champagne on the terrace, a big birthday dinner in the spectacular dining hall and dancing in the dance hall. All of that after a lazy morning in the garden and an afternoon on the beach - can't believe it's so close! Wonderful.

We all really enjoyed our stay at Symondsbury Manor. Loved the house with all of its quirky bits, especially the massive lounge/diner. It was perfect for our large gathering and the setting was wonderful.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you on behalf of myself, all the guests of Symondsbury Manor this weekend. We all agreed that we had never stayed in such a distinct and wonderful home - even discovering the rooms was an adventure! It was lovely to explore the grounds and to find pieces of artwork in the garden - as well as the chickens and the very friendly cats were a huge hit!

Thank you for our stay at Symondsbury Manor. It was the perfect place for our party of 17 to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday, and a fabulous setting for the 'Murder at the Manor' party we held there.
