A wonderful self contained apartment within a former Rectory set in 2.5 acres of peaceful grounds teeming with birds and wildlife. The recently refurbished apartment is fully centrally heated and is completely private with separate access through a private courtyard which has a lovely outdoor seating and dining area. The accommodation consists of an en-suite bedroom with a king size bed ,hypo allergenic bedding and luxurious 300 count Egyptian cotton bedding . The comfortable living room has a 42 inch flat screen TV, DVD player and dining table and chairs. There is a very well equipped kitchen with dining area and a seperate w/c downstairs. There is ample parking within the grounds very close to the property. We are happy to do short breaks out of season from 2 nights, other than that we let the apartment on a minimum of seven night basis.

The Apartment is situated in a quiet village which boasts a church mentioned in the Domesday book, the fabulous Tudor built Barsham Manor and a delightful pub. It is in a perfect central location , just a short drive from the gorgeous unspoilt beaches of the North Norfolk coast where you will find mile after mile of sea and sand, perfect for relaxing on a warm summers day, but just as exhilarating for winter walks wrapped up against the cold. A short drive will take you to the Georgian market town of Fakenham and Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park as seen in the BBC's Springwatch shows, and within easy reach of other interesting towns such as Walsingham , Holt and Burnham Market to name but a few. Slightly further afield is the magnificent city of Norwich home to the famed Cathedral, fabulous shops, restaurants, the Canaries football team and Alan Partridge! Bird reserves such as Titchwell , Holme and Cley are also a short distance away.

New for 2016 guests can now take advantage of our Sports and Remedial Massage service at the property by a fully accredited, Insured and ITEC qualified massage therapist, including Postural Analysis, Deep tissue Massage, Myofascial Release and Full Body Relaxing massage. Prices on application. What better way to wind down after a hard days sightseeing !

Perfect holiday Accommodation
A superb property in a quiet, beautiful setting with its own private courtyard. The accommodation was fully equipped with everything you would need. Lots of character and space. Lovely views out of every window. Even had an excellent pub on the doorstep 100 yds away. Perfect location to visit the North Norfolk coast - very central. Lovely owners . Will definitely go back. Had a fantastic holiday.

Absolute gem of an apartment

By Diane W on 20-Jul-2019

Toad Hall is an absolute gem of an apartment which is tastefully decorated throughout. The kitchen has everything that you need should you want to eat in but if not The Barsham Arms at the end of the drive does wonderful food Tuesday to Sunday but make sure you book. There are also loads of DVD's, games and jigsaws provided should the British weather be a little unkind! The apartment 's location makes exploring the north Norfolk really easy. All in all a fabulous time away and will hopefully return again for some wonderful rest and relaxation

Superb accommodation beautifully presented!
The apartment is fantastic, thoughtfully furnished with everything to make our stay comfortable. It was lovely to sit in the private courtyard having a drink in the evening or in the lounge watching the sun set over the fields! The apartment is well placed for seeing lots of different places around the area. Heather and Russ were so helpful, making contact as soon as we booked and were able to give tips on local places to visit. They made us very welcome. We had a wonderful week in this beautiful apartment, enjoying the peace and quiet as well as exploring new places. We would certainly recommend it and will definitely be visiting again!

Short Autumn break in East Barsham

By Timothy P on 27-Oct-2018

Short Autumn break in East barsham
We thoroughly enjoyed four days in Norfolk staying at Russ and Heather's generously appointed apartment for two. It was very well equipped and comfortable, with lots of character as befits being part of a Grade 2 listed former rectory. The location is particularly good for the North coast but inland places of interest are well within reach, too. A 'birder's paradise', we would be very happy to return if the opportunity arises.

The property was full of character and extremely well equipped, clean and comfortable. Heather and Russ were delightful hosts , there to assist but unobtrusive to us as guests .The grounds were delightful and a pub at the end of the drive was a bonus.

Perfect holiday accommodation for a couple.

By Jukie W on 08-Jul-2018

Perfect holiday accommodation for a couple. Comfortable, clean and just a touch quirky.
We loved our stay at Toad Hall. We took a chance as it wasn't what we'd usually go for but we weren't disappointed. East Barsham is an ideal base for touring and exploring all that North Norfolk has to offer. You will need a car though. There is a pub at the top of the drive and the market town of Fakenham is about three miles away and has a choice of four supermarkets as well as numerous other shops. Wells-next-the-Sea is a short drive away and boasts a beautiful beach but be warned if you don't drive down to the beach car park it is about a half hour walk along the causeway from the town centre. There are the amenities you'd expect from a small seaside town such as fish and chip, gift and tea shops. Hunstanton is further afield but well worth the drive if you want to spend a day by the sea. North Norfolk is a birdwatchers paradise. With the saltmarshes at Cley and Morston boasting a variety of species. If you want to see the seal colony at Blakeney Point then boat trips are available from the Quay, dependent on the tides. There are so many attractions in the area that we couldn't visit them all in a week. The accommodation is different. Being an apartment entered from a private courtyard. There is a hallway leading to the front door which enters the ground floor. Downstairs there is a good-sized, well equipped kitchen complete with a table and chairs overlooking the garden. Next to that a large downstairs toilet. The stairs lead directly into the bedroom which is large with an en-suite shower room, dressing table,king-size bed and walk-in cupboard/wardrobe. The views over the surrounding countryside are lovely. The lounge is accessed by walking through the bedroom. This is an ample room, well furnished with comfortable seating and a dining table and chairs. Also provided is a large screen TV with Freeview and a DVD player. Perfect for relaxing in the evenings. Everywhere was clean and well-presented with personal touches displayed in the artwork, photos, ornaments etc. All very homely. The owners Russ and Heather are perfect hosts being most helpful and knowledgeable both before and during our stay. They allow you access to their own garden where you can go Little Owl spotting in the evenings, an activity which kept us occupied and amused during our stay. As keen birdwatchers themselves they are able to direct you to the best sites. All in all we had a great week made even better by having the best weather we have ever enjoyed in Norfolk.

All aspects of our stay at Toad Hall were very good. Very spacious lounge, bedroom and kitchen had all we needed. Extensive grounds were lovely and as birdwatchers, perfect. Heather and Russ were very welcoming, and Russ gave us some great tips on his “local patch” of where to go birding. Perfect location to visit all along North Norfolk coast.

Superb apartment in beautiful location
Toad Hall apartment is a spacious apartment over two floors. Everything about it shows quality and the desire of the owners to provide a relaxing and memorable stay. It is ideally located for visiting North Norfolk, from Cromer to Kings Lynn. Close to Fakenham, a large town with all the amenities you could want, yet far enough away to feel you are in the heart of the countryside. Thank you.

Peaceful, very comfortable and near the coast.

By Lyn P. on 08-Mar-2017

Peaceful, very comfortable and near the coast.
We had a fab stay at the apartment at Toad Hall. Heather and Russ have thought of everything to make the apartment comfortable and easy to "live in" The resident Little Owls and Martins were a delight to watch as were the other birds near the coast. The Norfolk coast and the surrounding area of East Barsham is beautiful and the local pub was handy for a couple of meals. A great place to stay and we hope to come and stay again soon.

Fantastic Highly recommended!

By Anonymous on 12-May-2015

Fantastic, highly recommended!
Me and my partner stayed in this beautiful apartment only for a few days however from the start we were made to feel welcome and at home. The hosts were friendly, approachable and keen to help but weren't intrusive. The apartment was absolutely faultless, not a speck of dust, very well equipped and comfortable spacious rooms and bed. There is plenty of parking on the vast sweeping drive! We are nature lovers and enjoyed watching the various wildlife of a morning which visited the garden, especially the cheeky jackdaws on the bird feeders! While we stayed we had the luck of fantastic weather which resulted in gorgeous sunsets from the bedroom....very romantic! There was also a swinging bench, garden table and sun loungers provided in the courtyard which would have come in useful had we had a longer stay. It is close to local towns and not far from the beach of Holkham which is possibly one of the most gorgeous beaches in England! We are planning on returning again soon this time for longer! A home from home! I strongly recommend staying here for a fantastic relaxed experience!

Fantastic find .!

By Anonymous on 22-Sep-2014

Fantastic find....!
We were looking for somewhere convenient to go bird watching and visit local places of interest. I read the previous reviews and thought I'd book. I was not disappointed. It is in a great location. Pretty central for all the places we wanted to visit, yet it's set in a peaceful location. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and well equipped. It is comfortable and spacious. The friendly owners are well worth taking the time to talk to as they also know some lesser known bird watching sites. I will be back.....!

Rural retreat

By Joan P. on 16-Aug-2014

Rural retreat
Spacious, clean, newly decorated apartment on 2 floors with lovely views from the upstairs windows. We particularly enjoyed watching the sunsets from the bedroom window. Quiet and rural location but with very convenient pub next door! Excellent position for touring North Norfolk. Owners very welcoming and friendly - quickly provided items we requested. We loved the glorious North Norfolk coastline especially Holme-next-the-Sea, Burnham Overy Staithe, Holkham and Overstrand. Inland we would recommend trips to Holt ( good shopping ) and Sandringham (beautiful grounds ). Lots of good places to eat including seafood at Salthouse. Really good walks abound. An excellent week ( with wonderful weather! ) - thanks Heather and Russ for providing such a comfortable base and local knowledge.
