Pets
Pets are welcome in the lounge / kitchen area of Ivy Cottage. They are not allowed upstairs in the bedrooms. With the forest being literally the other side of the fence, Ivy Cottage is ideally situated for long forest walks. We provide a doggy welcome box with towel, poop scoop & bags, information about dog friendly places in the forest (there are many) etc. The charge for dogs is £25 for the first dog, and £10 for each further dog in the same cottage. Please mention when asking for a quote. Please keep your dog on a lead whilst on our grounds. Do not leave your dogs in the cottage unattended.
All our cottages are close to each other, making them ideal for extended families etc. We live adjacent to the cottages and we personally inspect every cottage between lets to ensure it is spotlessly clean and everything is in good working order ready for our new guests. We let our guests enjoy their holiday in peace - but if they do need us we are here to help.
Our grounds are right beside the forest. Literally open the gate and you are in the forest - no need to get in your car! The forest not only has miles of footpaths open to everyone to explore, but the cyclist is also well catered for with lots of waymarked cycle paths from the gentle 'family trail' to steep downhill mountain bike trails for the daring. There are local cycle hire firms or, for guests who bring their own bikes, we have a locked cycle shed where they can keep them overnight or when they are not using them.
The Forest of Dean is a compact area between the rivers Wye and Severn. The Severn Bore, a tidal wave that rolls upstream and can be surfed, is world famous. The Wye is a popular river for kayaking and canoeing and these can be hired for an hour, half a day or longer. The Forest of Dean is full of wildlife and nature. Sit quietly and see what you can spot - deer, squirrels, wild boar, badgers to name a few. There are also a good variety of birds, including less common ones such as the crossbill, hawfinch, buzzard and the red kite. The RSPB
reserve is less than 3 miles away. There are also many other attractions and activities in the area - caves, castles, Puzzlewood where numerous TV programmes including Star Wars and Merlin have been filmed, Dean Heritage Centre & Gruffalo trail, craft shops & tea rooms, to name a few.
