THE WEST WIGHT
Freshwater is an ideal holiday location if you enjoy the outdoor life. With one coast facing the English Channel and Atlantic Ocean and the other facing the Solent and the mainland the West Wight has a very different atmosphere to the busier eastern side of the Island. Landmarks include Freshwater Bay, The Needles, Tennyson Down, Fort Victoria, Alum Bay Cliffs and Yarmouth Castle but there are other places like Newtown Creek - an unspoilt haven for wildlife, Hannover Point with it's dinosaur footprints on the rocks, the ancient standing stones at Mottistone and Hulverstone and beaches ranging from safe and sandy to wild and rocky!
The West Wight is well known for its numerous footpaths and bridleways and has an annual Walking Festival every spring and the Cycling Festival in the Autumn. From the Apartment the cliff tops are only minutes away with walks over Tennyson Down to the Needles or along the River Yar to Yarmouth.
