This modern, light and airy apartment, offers 1 double bedroom and 1 twin room. A family shower room with WC and an open plan living/dining area. There is plenty of outside space available for alfresco dining and it is an ideal property for a small family or couples who wish to escape to the south of France.
The peaceful, shady garden and refreshing, secluded pool ( 8m x 4m size ) offer an alternative to sight-seeing and are ideal for a relaxing day, reading and sunbathing. Enjoy a glass of chilled wine under the cooling shade of the mulberry tree. Guests will have exclusive use of the pool, front garden and terrace, even when the owners are on site, which is not often during summer when guests are present, but which is sometimes necessary. There is ample off street parking available on a gated driveway.
The light, modern fitted kitchen is situated off the open plan living/dining area and is well equipped with a fridge/freezer, gas hob, microwave, small combination oven and dishwasher and provides everything needed for a self-catering holiday. There is a good amount of cupboard space. There is a charcoal barbecue available for use on the front terrace. Alternatively you can visit the bars and restaurants in nearby Limoux which is only a 5 minute drive away. The apartment is also within easy reach of the well-known and very popular La Taverne a Bacchus.
The sitting room is comfortable, light and bright with a front aspect view to the garden and through to the pool and pool terrace. A wooden dining table provides seating for 6 people and also overlooks the front terrace and garden. It has a ceiling fan, electric heater and UK television. Free wifi is available at this property. The front terrace is spacious and has views overlooking vineyards and the surrounding hills.
The modern tiled bathroom offers a good sized shower, bidet, wash basin and WC.
Both bedrooms have good wardrobe space, ceiling fans, electric heaters. The twin room has a front aspect and the double room overlooks the side of the property.
All bed linen, towels and pool towels are included in the rental as well as post stay cleaning. During the months of July and August, changeover day is Saturday . However,out of season we can be more flexible. There is a minimum stay of 7 nights.
Gaja et Villedieu is a small commune in the Aude and has a population of just under 300. It is a 5 minute drive away from the bustling market town of Limoux, famous for its “Blanquette”, a sparkling white wine believed to have predated champagne. It has to be tasted and where better than at the summer night market, held every Tuesday in July and August. Market day is every Friday in Limoux and Monday in the medieval and historic square of Mirepoix just 20 mins away.
The apartment is also located within easy reach of the town of Carcassonne, with its famous medieval castle, known as La Cite. If you would prefer to spend a lazy day on a golden sandy Mediterranean beach, then Narbonne Plage, Leucate Plage and many others are about 1.5 hours drive away. The spring water swimming pools at Alet les Bains, the beaches of the numerous swimming lakes, kayaking on the Aude, cycle hire and the Abbey at St.Hilaire, are all a short distance from the house. If you want to go further afield, then Barcelona is only 3 hours away and there are plenty of beautiful drives into the Pyrenees, including the pretty towns of Quillan and Illes sur Tet. If hiking or cycling is your love, then you will find opportunities for these activities in abundance. There is plenty of wine tasting opportunities for wine lovers too.
