Wonderful House & Amazing Grounds
By Katy W on 17-Jun-2019
We had an absolutely fantastic weekend at Chaffeymoor Grange. The house was wonderful, incredibly comfy beds, brilliantly well equipped and lots of space for a large group of young families. The kids particularly loved the TV den! The grounds are stunning - such a relaxing environment for the grownups and loads of places for the kids to run and hide. Lots of fun with tennis a croquet too. Lindsay was incredibly helpful during the booking process and recommending caterers / kids entertainment. All around excellent venue.
Perfect House for a Special Birthday Celebration
By Susan T on 14-Jun-2019
Thank you to Lindsay and Rick for providing us with such a lovely property to celebrate my husbands 60th Birthday with a group of friends and family. The house was perfect, beautifully restored with great facilities and very spacious. The grounds/gardens are stunning and very well maintained. Lindsay recommended Andy Meek Catering and his service was also brilliant. We couldn't have wished for anything better, just wonderful.
Outstanding Venue for Large Family Celebration
By Katy L on 23-May-2019
We absolutely loved our weekend at Chaffeymoor Grange. We were there to celebrate an 80th birthday, with three generations of the family. Everyone loved their rooms - the beds were extremely comfortable and all loved having their own en suite bathrooms. The children couldn't believe their luck, having a billiards room and every kind of game available. Lots of us took up tennis again after a 30 year break. We had caterers in for the main birthday meal, which was very easy as the house is really well set up for large scale catering. Lindsay was incredibly helpful with any queries we had. We really felt we used the whole house, with drinks on the terrace, birthday cake ceremony in the drawing room and everyone seated around the big dining room table for meals. Every room is a delight. If you're going to leave the property then Stourhead is only about 5 minutes away for a wonderful scenic walk. Altogether, I absolutely urge you to try Chaffeymoor - I reviewed many other venues before finding this one and I really don't think we could have found better.

Chaffeymoor Grange was the perfect venue for our wedding in January, which saw families from both sides of the Atlantic meeting for the first time. We stayed for the week prior to the wedding which gave us a chance to truly appreciate the beautiful area it's situated in, and explore some of the nearby attractions (including the fantastic local pub).
Rik and Lindsay (the owners) were so accommodating and friendly with all our requests and queries, and made the wedding day as stress free for us as possible. I still struggle to believe how quickly and quietly they are able to transform the downstairs from a comfortable living room into the perfect ceremony venue, then into a dining room, and then a dance floor, all without anybody noticing!
We can't wait to come back at some point in the future and make more wonderful memories here, it's truly magical.
The most amazing wedding weekend venue!
By Laura B on 27-Nov-2018
We absolutely loved getting married at chaffeymoor grange. Lindsay and Rick were so helpful in the run up and even helped us out with playing the music for the ceremony. They were so friendly and happy to give advice and recommendations which were gladly received. Our guests loved the venue and all had beautiful rooms, it was so nice that we could spend the time before and after the wedding in this beautiful house with our nearest and dearest rather than having to rush around. We spent quality time together, cooking on the Friday night and playing pool and a brunch and walk to the pub on the Sunday. It was amazing that the whole wedding could take place in one place- saved the cost and hassle of transport. We got married in the oak room which we decorated with fairy lights, champagne and photos outside in the breathtaking grounds, dinner in the dinning room and party in the oak room/ games room. The whole house is beautifully kept, well equipped, clean, spacious and the most incredible place for an intimate wedding! We had 20 guests staying over and attending the ceremony and breakfast and a further 30 cane for the party in the evening where we set up an open bar. So pleased we could get married there, we had the best day ever and loved how flexible it was- we weren’t tied in to any particular caterers or bar or anything, we got to pick everything ourselves so it was exactly what we wanted. Loved every minute, can’t say thank you enough!
Amazing House for a Family Party
By James F on 06-Sep-2018
We had a family party here and it was absolutely perfect. The house is wonderful and the tennis courts are a real plus. Gorgeous and great for large groups. The kitchen is well equipped to cater to large groups and there is outdoor seating if weather allows.
Perfect Venue for Weekend Party
By Geraldine on 23-Aug-2018
We were lucky with the fabulous late summer weather at this fantastic venue. Perfect for a mostly self-catering event with lots of people - really comfortable stylish accommodation,(lovely squashy duvets and pillows - a particular thing of mine) fab bathrooms, and plentiful space for having large noisy meals, or chilling out on the terrace looking at the beautiful view. Kitchen was excellently equipped for lots of cooking/people+wine fridge space! Loved the ping pong table, croquet lawn and tennis court - great for working off the calories after our large meals! Set in beautiful grounds, I'd love to come here again - had the best time, in a beautiful house with great facilities. Would highly recommend it!
Amazing Venue, Grounds & Hosts
By Debbie C on 26-Jul-2018
We couldn't have asked for more - the setting, venue, weather and support was simply overwhelming.
The fabulous hosts have the ability to silently coordinate without being seen and equally made sure that everything ran smoothly from day-break to sunset.....a truly awesome team and a property that was an absolute delight to stay in thank you!!!! As a family we booked all 10 double rooms and the Coach House, which slept a further 4, for our wedding.
Both David and i have woken every morning since the wedding with the desire to do it all over again......hence we are determined to return in the next 2-3 years and find another occasion to celebrate!!!! The house itself is beautiful with gorgeous furniture, great facilities and more bathrooms /toilets than you will know what to do with. Great venue for any kind of function where you are looking for style, comfort and freedom. Hosts live in the Grounds but leave you completely alone, unless you need them to coordinate anything for you -plenty of parking onsite and the venue is surrounded by plenty of walks, pubs and things to see, do.
Quite Simply Out of This World
By Sasha on 12-Jun-2018
We were lucky enough to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday with family at the beautiful and quite outstanding Chaffeymoor Grange. We were a group of 22 with ages ranging from 7 to to nearly 70.
From the moment I made initial enquiries with Lindsay, I knew this was going to be a very special weekend. She was at all times so incredibly helpful and professional, and made our booking so painless.
The house itself is magnificent and wonderful - it has a charm that is hard to put into words, but from the moment we swept up the driveway and saw it, we quite simply fell in love with it.
All the reception rooms are very spacious, so that even with the house to its full capacity, one never felt there were too many of us. The kitchen had everything you could possibly wish for and more, and the 2 downstairs bathrooms were a real bonus as well.
The bedrooms are beautifully decorated, all with their own distinctive theme, and of course with the most amazing views, and top quality bed linen & towels. 9 of the 10 bedrooms have their own ensuite which is fantastic.
We were blessed with the most amazing weather, and so of course spent many happy hours enjoying the extensive grounds. We relaxed on the beautiful patio, admiring the views that seemed to go on forever. We rowed the boat on the Lake, we played croquet on the lawn, we had tennis and football matches, we played table tennis. We walked, we talked and we laughed. We made the most amazing memories in this breathtakingly beautiful setting.
When some folk had had enough of the sunshine, they wandered indoors to the coolness of the pool room or the TV Den. Something for everyone to hand and to explore.
Lindsay recommended several local caterers, and we were lucky enough to meet Andy from Meeks Catering, who provided us with the most delicious meals during our stay.
Apart from making lots of our own entertainment, we had the very skilled and lovely "Bath Magician - Grant Maidment" come along to wow us with his magic pre dinner and between courses.
There is also a fantastic sound system, and "Daniel Spiller" - singer, guitarist and all round first class musician kept the party going.
We also took the Coach House for the weekend, and would highly recommend this as well - it gave some extra space for anyone needing their own time to chill, and for anyone with sensory issues.
It is clear that Lindsay and Rik have invested so much work and love into making Chaffeymoor Grange the splendid but relaxing place that it is. We will need no excuse to return - quite simply out of this world! Thanks to them for the most amazing weekend!
A Special Place for a Special Occasion
By Ali C on 19-Apr-2018
I cannot recommend Chaffeymoor Grange highly enough. From the moment we entered the driveway we were enchanted by what we saw. The grounds and gardens are fabulous but the house is the jewel in the crown!
Every room is beautiful - spacious, fabulously decorated and so comfortable. It's luxurious but also makes you feel right at home.
There is real attention to detail in all the rooms and facilities and we had absolutely everything we needed.
Our group of girls celebrating a forthcoming wedding loved this house and our bride-to-be felt like a queen!!
We would like to live here forever :-)
By Jazz P on 21-Jun-2017
What a fantastic place to meet up with old friends. The facilities were amazing with so much to do both indoors and outdoors. Everything was beautifully decorated and maintained creating character whilst having all the modern conveniences.Hope I get the chance to come back next year!!
Beautiful House & Grounds
By Jeanette on 05-May-2017
I can not tell you how much fun we had staying at this magical property. It is really nicely done out but without feeling pretentious, so you can totally relax. We rowed the boat in pond, played hide in seek in the large gardens, went for long walks and pub lunches, a truly amazing weekend with our friends, we are already looking at booking again
Our Wedding Weekend was just the way we wanted it.
By Garrie D on 17-Apr-2017
If you are looking for a perfect wedding venue, then you should consider yourselves very lucky because you just found it! When we started to plan our wedding we had an idea of type of place we wanted, after research we had ~14 places to consider, this was second place and we immediately fell in love with it and stopped our search! :-) This venue has very nice feel, there is a lot of history though at the same time the design of the place allow you to design day in the style which is perfect for you. It's very spacious and gets a lot of light (our photographer was very inspired!). We had a very small family and friends wedding weekend for 25 people and this was perfect place which everyone fall in love with. And of course a lot of it thanks to the greatest hosts, from first minute we met Lindsay and Rick we liked them a lot and felt very comfortable to discuss all our questions, ideas, concerns, get advice. They are extremely helpful and always there when you need them. We wish we could come back one day for another friends/family weekend. Garrie & Yulia
A great weekend had by all
By Bobjacky on 30-Nov-2016
A great weekend had by all of the family (20 in total), plenty of space to retreat for quiet moments, great accommodation, gardens, facilities, personally we don't think we could have found a better place to stay, going back next year for another weekend of superb comfort and fun.
By Sarah M on 09-Oct-2016
Wow! What a fabulous place!! Lindsay and Rik really have created the most idyllic venue for a celebration.
Every consideration is catered for, from the well-equipped kitchen to the luxurious bedrooms. It is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained.
We celebrated my 50th birthday here and could not fault it. From the long sweeping drive right up to the extraordinarily beautiful manor house from start to finish this was perfect.
The layout of the house gives itself to a celebration and the beautiful gardens, lake and ornamental pond, all so beautifully maintained, lend a tranquillity to this extraordinary place.
We could not fault Chaffeymoor Grange.
Unforgettable Family Reunion
By AB on 31-Jul-2016
Chaffeymoor Grange was a wonderful venue for a family reunion of 22 people of 3 generations from 3 continents staying from July 6 - July 13. The accommodation and grounds are very spacious offering a variety of different places to enjoy from the children's den, the huge sitting room, the cosy breakfast room adjoining the kitchen, to quiet sitting places in the garden. We held a cream tea party one afternoon and an extra 40 people were easily accommodated around the house and gardens with every one of our guests commenting on what a fantastic venue it was. The kitchens are very well equipped, well maintained, spacious and well designed even allowing, on occasions, all of us to mill around at once! The bedrooms are all extremely comfortable.
Our group made good use of all the leisure opportunities on site (table tennis, tennis, football, pool and croquet, boating on the pond) and also enjoyed several local walks straight from the house. Chaffeymoor Grange is very well placed for visiting tourist attractions such as Stonehenge and Stourhead. The beautiful Dorset coast is also within easy reach.
On our last night Taste Caterers from Bruton cooked and served us a lovely meal and on one of the other nights all 22 of us went to The White Lion in Bourton for a meal...we can thoroughly recommend both experiences.
Lyndsay and Rik manage to be both attentive and unobtrusive hosts and they were particularly helpful with local recommendations. We were very grateful to them for letting us make two inspection visits.
We couldn't have chosen a better venue for our amazing and unforgettable family reunion!
By Stuart G on 01-Jun-2016
We were tipped off about this place as a daughter had been there for a friends wedding. She said this could be the venue we were looking for to host our NZ and UK families coming together in the same country for a change - she was right!
The 10 bedrooms are all different and yet well appointed. The house is chock full of character and the grounds are stunning.
The owners had already taken in our internet grocery delivery and stacked them in the second kitchen so all we had to do was unpack, poor a wine and sit outside and await our guests arrival.
From then on everyone had a great time playing football, tennis, croquet, etc, and even pool into the wee small hours.
There is enough space to spend a quiet moment alone, walk the grounds, sit in peace or just be part of the buzz of kids and adults all chattering away at once in the central meeting point - the large kitchen!
Sat night happened to be the eldest son's birthday and we got a chef in to cater for us (via the owners) all very easy and a lovely way to spend the evening.
We had a lovely long May bank holiday weekend there and everyone from the 18 month old grandson to the grandparents had a lovely time and we would all go back again quite happily. Quite the little Dorset county jewel this one.
What a fabulous place
By Philippa R on 24-Mar-2016
What a fabulous place... we hunted for weeks to find a venue that would suit a 40th birthday party with friends. The website is very good however, the real thing is even better! Arrived Friday arvo to a warm welcome, warm house (not usual in a big old house) and plenty to investigate.
Huge rooms, big beds and well equipped with everything you could ever want for a long wkend, indoors or out.
8 couples enjoyed the peace without children, long lay-ins and big breakfasts round the kitchen table. If you want a luxury space for a big group, this is the place to go.
We Will Be Back!

I have just returned after spending this weekend at Chaffeymoor Grange with 20 of my friends. 23-25 October
This is a stunning house in perfect condition to celebrate something special, we did not leave the house much because everyone was so happy !
Lindsay helped us with caterers who put on a fantastic meal on Saturday night and then we spent many hours dancing the night away !
Every room and bedroom is different and 20 of my friends have described is a truly amazing House !
Can't wait to find another excuse to book this house again ! We will be back Lindsay!!!!
