Long Barn is a beautiful light and airy barn conversion in the small village of Gilwern, just a few miles from the market town of Abergavenny. The property was has been designed and furnished by award winning architect, Simon Brown, and was until recently his family home. This grade II listed, eco-friendly barn conversion boasts modern facilities, super-insulation, under-floor heating, and spectacular draught-free glazing. Large enough to sleep up to 20 guests in 8 bedrooms with 6 bath/shower rooms, the property also boasts two kitchens and two lounges. Outside the house has a totally enclosed garden for children and pets, and private parking for up to 8 cars. There is an outdoor covered games area with table tennis and pool tables, plus a hot tub can be hired for the duration of your stay.

The great thing about holidays at Long Barn are its countryside location within walking distance of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, coupled with great access to the Brecon Beacons, Wye Valley and Forest of Dean via the A40 nearby. Lovers of the outdoors will be spoiled for choice with a plethora of activities and attractions available in the area, whether it's canoeing/kayaking down the River Wye, caving in the Forest, or mountain biking in the Beacons. Or you might choose to climb to the summit of one of the many mountain peaks in the area, the Sugarloaf has a steep but well-defined footpath to the top from where hikers are rewarded with panoramic views, or you may choose to tackle Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. The Blorenge and Skirrid are also nearby.

The charming market town of Abergavenny is the nearest town and has a host of independent shops, pubs and restaurants, plus several supermarkets in which to stock up on your holiday essentials. Other towns nearby well worth a visit during your stay are Crickhowell, Brecon, Monmouth and Hay-on-Wye, each having their own unique charm.
