We had a most enjoyable fortnight in Mike & Margaret's apartment in Port Grimaud. It was like a home from home with all the mod cons. The bed and convertible sofa bed were very comfortable and provided comfortably for the four in our party. The location is very convenient to all amenities yet comfortably away from the very busy spots. There is a lovely view from the patio area. There is secure parking in a locked underground garage which also contains many items for the beach that guests are welcome to use. The apartment is very well equipped and has a good supply of books and games for the very rare wet evening. There are also lots of brochures detailing nearby attractions and the apartment booklet itself is very informative. Of very great convenience are free resident passes to use the water coach service around the resort. The nearest stop is a minute's walk away and it services all the main attractions including two lovely beaches. We arrived late on a Sunday night and we were met by Pam & Ron, who showed us around and made us feel very welcome. They were on hand any time they were needed and provided clean towels and linen at the end of the week. Overall, it was a most enjoyable stay and we intend to return next year.
On closing the apartment front door you are transported from the hustle and bussle of French life to the truly idilic and picture postcard view of Port Grimaud. The views from the apartment balcony are simply stunning and could easily grace any holiday brochure. We found the apartment a home from home providing everything anyone would need during their stay. Very clean, comfortable and homely - a perfect base to explore the local area and spectacular coast line. Within the exclusive Port Grimaud village you will not be disappointed, its water ways, posh water side properties, bars, shops, amenities and resturants will keep the busy and extremely well feed! The 2 private beaches are a must to visit and are within easy walking distance. Finally everyone we meet was so welcoming and extremely helpful, there appears not to be any language barrier just a shared interest in the good life. I had never heard of Port Grimaud before but it is the most beautiful marina area which tops the likes of St Tropez in my opinion and this apartment is right on the marina looking out at the amazing boats and a beautiful canal system they sometimes call a "little Venice". The apartment has one bedroom so not massive but with a double bed pull out sofa in the lounge area so it easily sleeps 4 and then the terrace area has been made beautiful and private with gorgeous plants and flowers, it was so lovely to eat or chill out there and just watch the boats go by. The whole area has been designed very carefully to look pretty. What is really fantastic though is that you can get the water taxis for free (I believe they are seasonal) right around the corner from the apartment and go on a boat ride every day to either the small beach or the large beach, both of which are beautiful with great swimming and not at all too crowded considering we were in peak season. We didn't feel the need to go on extra boat trips because we were going on boats twice a day every day. The apartment has everything you need including fans (although we were going at the hottest time so we took a couple of small ones too) and you can park securely in the locked garage underground. You virtually don't need the car once you're there as even if you don't get the boat it's probably only a 10 min walk to the marina village which has loads of restaurants and small shops etc with a beautiful waterfront location. The kitchen area is all newly refurbished and you have washing machine etc should you need it, the bathroom was great too and I can't think of one thing we didn't find. Bedding and towels also provided which is very useful. The garage even contains parasols and beach chairs so everything you could want is there. The owner's agents were very helpful and accommodating with tips on where to go etc. We visited St Tropez (about 20-30 mins away) which was nice but we just loved the nearby village of Grimaud with its tiny streets and old ruined fort which is just a few km away. There are lots of places around if you want to get out and about (e.g. Cannes) but we mostly just stayed nearby enjoying the area. I would definitely return as it is a hidden gem and this apartment is a great place to be: clean, modern, very pretty and very good value we thought - our second week we stayed in a mobile home in a different area towards Montpelier which cost more. We loved our stay, thank you!
