Description
Self-catering holiday let in Guehebert, NormandyWe have owned this holiday house for several years and still love its tranquil rural setting. Set amongst its own fields at the end of a ½ mile private drive, it is the most lovely relaxing holiday retreat. Built some 300 years ago, this holiday cottage has enormous character with old beams, massive stone walls and a huge Normandy fireplace. The South facing terrace catches the sun all day and is the ideal spot to enjoy an evening drink listening to the cicadas.
The magnificent 10m x 5m private heated swimming pool is situated in a peaceful setting and provides the perfect place to relax in the sun. There are lovely views over the wooded valley below. And if you fancy a change of scenery, it is a pretty ten minute walk from our holiday villa to the village of Grimesnil.
Spread over three floors, our French gite is full of period character and well-equipped for holidays with up to 12 people: we have 2 double bedrooms, including a master en suite, and 4 twin rooms that are perfect for children or groups of friends. With a huge lawn, our own pear trees and meadows all around, our holiday home is the perfect place to enjoy nature in Normandy.

Leave ReviewLovely holiday!!
By Brewer on 19-Sep-2025Thank you so much for a lovely holiday!! We enjoyed the swimming pool on three different days, the weather was just right. We came to visit the D Day beaches & museums and surrounding area as this was where my Grandad fought with so many others for our freedom.
Fabulous stay in your beautiful home
By Attwell family on 05-Jul-2025Thank you Sue for a fabulous stay in your beautiful home. Our extended family have enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing holiday here - the pool has been a hit with the kids! We have enjoyed various day trips to Granville, visiting Christian Diors home, Mont St Michel and other local beaches and towns. Highly recommend the 'Fournil de la Seine' boulangerie and patisserie in Gavray. It is a beautiful, quiet location with plenty to do nearby. We highly recommend it and hope to visit again in the future.
Functional holiday home
By Sandrine on 12-May-2025Magnificent swimming pool heated to 28 degrees. Ideal house to meet up with friends. Welcome and instructions given by a very charming lady who takes care of the house. Visit Mont Saint Michel 1 hour away, visit of the Dior museum in Granville 30 minutes away, visit of producer Calvados, Fouchard, very friendly, appointment to be made. We were able to enjoy a superb weather, ideal to fully enjoy the swimming pool. Functional holiday home.
It was just an amazing holiday!
By Gill Smith on 23-Sep-2024My family and I (ten in total including 4 grandchildren aged 5-8) stayed in La Germainiere in August 2024. We had a brilliant week! The farmhouse is beautiful and very well equipped. It is set in spacious gardens well away from other occupied properties so that the youngsters could make as much noise as they wanted without fear of disturbing anyone. We enjoyed the heated pool every afternoon and made good use of the outdoor games - badminton, boules and table tennis. We used the bar-b-cue several times and as the evenings drew in, lit the open fire in the lounge. We loved the al fresco dining at “La Cale” at Blainville Sur Mer, where the kids played on the beach as tractor loads of mussels were brought ashore. We sampled wonderful crepes in the historic centre of Coutances and were amazed by the hundreds of people who lined the shore in St Martin de Brehal to dig for shellfish. What a spectacle! We sampled several of the restaurants recommended in the extensive guide in the farmhouse. “La Barratte” in St Denis de Vetu welcomed us on our arrival night with a typical French menu. Restaurant Auberge de L’Abbaye Hambye was more upmarket and served delicious food. We also gorged on croissants and pastries from the boulangeries in Gavray. When asked what they had enjoyed most about our week in France the grandchildren reeled off a long list of everything we’d done and concluded – “it was just an amazing holiday!”
