Reviews

The ideal holiday cottage for humans and dogs.

By Sherpa on 25-Feb-2020

We have stayed here now for 5 holidays and absolutely love it. The cottage is fully appointed with everything you need and has a lovely log burner for cosy evenings (and days) in and a hot tub. The kennels in the garden are perfect for us, as on the hot summer days when we wanted to go out and not have to worry about leaving dogs in a hot vehicle, they had a nice secure area to stay in and of course the large garden is perfect for them. The area has everything you need within a short distance, mountains, coast and forest. Finally the owners, Gill and Dave are very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this cottage, you will not be disappointed.

New Years break

By L Spencer on 03-Jan-2020

We stayed for 3 nights over NY with our 3 children and dog. The property exceeded our expectations. it was clean, well equipped and in good repair. The garden was fabulous, the kids and dog loved running around and playing in it. We felt it was in a good position to get around and enjoyed a long walk on Barmouth beach, caught the train to Harlech and Porthmadog and walked up to Coed y Brenin forest track. The owners were quick in responding to emails and very thorough with the answers. All in all a great time was had and we would definitely come back and recommend this property to others.

Simply beautiful

By Adrian W on 08-Jul-2019

Booked a week in June, weather lovely, spent a lot of time chilling in the vast and superb laid out gardens. Everything you need is in the cottage nothing has been left to chance. Quirky vintage caravans in the grounds. Just myself and the wife, so plenty of room to get lost in. Location is far enough out the way to be secluded if you wish, but also close enough to beach, food, amenities. Barmouth itself a short ten minute drive, Shell island around the corner, pub a short walk along the lanes, no need to drive. Seating outside to watch glorious sunshine. Only problem is the weather was so good we didn't spend enough time in the cottage. Have to revisit in the winter :-) I would highly recommend to couples, families, great for kids, as good secure, large play areas, doggie families and anyone wanting a chilled getaway with everything to hand.

Great location for exploring surrounding areas

By S. Barratt on 20-May-2019

The location is ideal for exploring Shell Island, Harlech, Barmouth and also inland. A Great bonus that you can take your dog and the garden is laid out so well to suit everyone. Definately go and buy the local award winning sauasages, they are fabulous , they are sold in the Spar shop in village. We would certainly return as we had a really enjoyable stay with the added bonus of lovely weather.

Wonderful place

By Jo H on 02-Nov-2018

Absolutely lovely cottage with everything you need for your stay. Smashing location with lovely scenery. Everything and everyone catered for. We were a group of 4 adults and a teenager and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - even the teen. Beautiful gardens to the rear of the property with lovely views out to sea over the cottage. Had fun on the rope swing and tyre swing too. We were really lucky with the weather given the time of year (October ). We visited Harlech, Barmouth, Portmerion, Porthmadog and took the Ffestniog railway to Blaenau. We drove to Beddegelert via Betwys y Coed. Stunning sunsets on the nearby beaches and a view to die for after walking the Barmouth Panorama Walk. Lovely log burner in the living room which helped keep the place cosy and easy 'Hive' heating. Would love to return one day.

Absolutely lovely cottage with everything you need for your stay. Smashing location with lovely scenery. Everything and everyone catered for. We were a group of 4 adults (40's, 50's and 70's) and a teenager and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - even the teenager! Beautiful gardens to the rear of the property with lovely views out to sea over the cottage. Had fun on the rope swing. We were really lucky with the weather given the time of year (end of October) and visited Harlech, Barmouth, Portmerion and Porthmadog, where we took the Ffestiniog railway to Blaenau Ffestiniog and drove via Beddegelert to Betwys y Coed, stopping to view Snowdon on the way. Stunning sunsets on the nearby beaches and a view to die for after walking the Barmouth Panorama Walk. Lovely log burner in the living room which helped keep the place cosy, and easy 'Hive' heating. Would love to return one day!

Back again

By Colin A on 04-Jul-2017

This time we stayed for a two week break, which made it even harder to leave this lovely cottage and the area. As usual we found the cottage cleaned and presented to a high standard which helps us relax knowing that we won't have to worry about what we will find on arrival. Everything is provided and the wood burner is great (even though we have only managed to use it one day - it was to hot even then! - maybe a winter break in the future to fully appreciate it!) The hot tub is another relaxing addition and is great to use after our mountain biking trips in the area. The kennels are great for a worry free (dogs in hot vehicles) holiday and ours are used to them now and wander in when asked with no problems. A really great place to stay, and we can't recommend it enough. Thank you Gill and Dave.

Absolutely perfect

By Keri-Louise M on 10-Jun-2017

Myself and my partner Nicol stayed here with our 2 dogs in May 2017 and it was an absolutely amazing holiday. The house is very clean, modern but still keeps the cosy traditional ceiling beams etc. It's a great size and the garden is perfect for dogs as it was huge! Nice patio area and the bbq was a bonus but a massive luxury to have the hot tub... It's surrounding and fairy lights were beautiful. Well equipped kitchen and bedrooms are beautiful and airy!. My partner and I travel a few times a year with our dogs and this is by far the best place we have been. Hope to be back :-) Thanks again, Keri, Nicol, Rocco and Bella x

Beautiful cottage in idillic surroundings

By Catherine B on 05-Jun-2017

This is the second stay at Ty'n Y Clawdd in Dyffryn Ardudwy. Gill the owner is very helpful in suggesting local places to eat that are child and dog friendly. The cottage is spacious with everything you could want plus a huge rear garden. The bonus is it's also a dog friendly cottage but also has the added amenity of kennels if you want to keep them outside with their own garden area (ours is a homely dog so stayed with us inside) The cottage is located within walking distance of 2 pubs (the furthest being the best about a 15 min walk). The village is very close on foot (10 mins) but no paths for half the journey on a busy road. I'd suggest buggies are in order if taker younger ones. This part of Wales is glorious especially this time of the year and we did a lot of walking, cycling, visiting local sites as well as nearby places such as Zip Worlds Bounce Below. There are castles in abundance and brilliant beaches which have sand for miles when the tide is out. So much to do here and sorry to be home, We didn't pay extra for the hot tub on this occasion as we didn't use it last time, so can't comment on quality. Thanks for another great week.

Superb cottage in a stunning location

By Heather G on 05-Jan-2017

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location situated near wonderful beaches and other points of interest. Hot tub and log fire were amazing on a cold Winters day. Very clean and spacious interior with superbly maintained outdoor space. Plenty of puzzles, games and videos to keep everyone occupied in the evenings, when not in the hot tub.

Perfect holiday cottage

By Colin A on 19-Sep-2016

This was our third stay at this truly home from home cottage. We were pleased to see that it was as usual spotlessly clean, both inside and out, with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We were able to use the hot tub this visit which was a great addition to the cottage. As usual we ran out of time to do all we had planned for our week, so we have booked two weeks next year! If you are considering staying here, then book it, as you will not be disappointed.

Perfect retreat for the family

By Johnnyheb on 03-May-2016

We had an amazing stay. Cottage was perfect for our kids with football goal and hot tub. My daughter was fascinated with the extensive collection of retro videos. Great location for activities, we managed to visit Zip World, mountain bike, fly a kite on the local beach and relax in the hot tub. A wonderful long weekend for all the family.
