Description

Llan is a perfect retreat, set in a tranquil setting within a short drive of beautiful Lake Vyrnwy. A fabulous place to relax and unwind from the stresses and pressures of daily life. Lovingly and tastefully restored by its current owners, it has a wealth of traditional features including wooden beams, oak and slate floors, a large inglenook with wood burner, a well equipped kitchen, modern conveniences and oil fired central heating. There is Wi-Fi, TV and a DVD player but for those preferring to make their own entertainment, a wide selection of books and board games.

The property has a large enclosed garden at the rear with a wild life pond and views of the surrounding fields and hills. There are wonderful hillside walks directly from the cottage and plenty of places to visit in the local area including Lake Vyrnwy and the Vyrnwy Falls, the RSPB Bird Reserve, Snowdonia National Park, the renowned Llanrhaeadr Falls, Bala Lake and the Berwyn Mountains.

For the adventurous there are numerous outdoor pursuits available nearby and further afield, including mountain biking, cycling, sailing, kayaking, horse riding, quad biking and white water rafting. Not for the faint-hearted there is the Revolution Bike Park on the door step at Llangynog (10 minute drive ) and Zip World Velocity, Zip World Titan, Bounce Below and Zip World Caverns at Blaenau Ffestiniog and Zip World Fforest at Betws-y-Coed (all within an hour away).

For those in search of history, within an hour's drive there are four National Trust properties, Chirk Castle, Erddig, Powis Castle and Attingham Park, and the Roman City of Chester and medieval town of Shrewsbury. For those wanting to spend a day by the sea, the beaches and seaside town of Barmouth can be reached in just over an hour and beyond that you have the lovely seaside resorts of Aberdovey and the Lleyn Peninsula. Port Meirion, an Italianate village, is well worth a visit.

There is a well stocked village shop within 3 miles of the cottage and larger shops and butchers in Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochant (5 miles) and Llanfyllin (9 miles). Large mainstream supermarkets can be found in Oswestry and Welshpool (both approximately 20 miles).

The Lake Vyrnwy Hotel (a 10 minute drive) has a spa, restaurant, bistro and dog friendly pub, as well as spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding countryside. There are a number of pubs serving food within 5 miles of the cottage.

Fabulous character property in a wonderful location

By Jan & Derek Lovell on 11-Sep-2021

Thank you Christine for making Llan Farmhouse such a lovely inviting home from home. It is a beautifully restored and renovated property, bursting with character yet fully up to date with comfort and appliances. The superb garden is dog friendly and secure, containing a wildlife pond, extensive lawn and many fruit and mature trees. It is not far from Lake Vyrnwy and surrounded by lovely country and hillside views and walks. Llan Farmhouse is a great place to unwind and enjoy a great part of the country. We look forward to staying here again next year.

Best holiday cottage

By Julia Duncan on 17-Jul-2021

We had a super time staying at Llan. It is 18th century and has an amazing feel to the place. Loved the wooden beams, staircase and slate floor. The property has been looked after well and is very comfortable. The garden is beautiful with great views. It was so peaceful, with nearest other properties a good distance away. We have stayed in many holiday cottages in Wales over the years but this has been the best so far. The only negative I can think of is the tiny freezer, but there is space for a bigger one! It is a great area to visit, lots of wonderful walks, we did Surf Snowdonia, kayaking, and galloping on the beach near Barmouth. We will definitely visit again!
