200 year old stone built cottage in the oldest part of Kingsbridge. Right in the centre of the town. There is Parking in Devon Square for 1 car right outside house. The cottage is a short stroll from the estuary for the ferry to Salcombe and beaches, Creeks End for a drink and all local shops, pubs and restaurants are very close. Cottage has recently been completely refurbished throughout (due to burst pipe in loft which flooded house) all rooms re-carpeted, new bathroom, and many new pieces of furniture and new beds. All Bedrooms have TV and DVD players. This is the owners much loved second home and we have extensive family connections in town. This really is a comfortable cottage to stay in with friendly neighbours, many games, films and books for the odd rainy stay at home day.
Loads of great restaurants serving local produce within a few minutes walk of the front door. The best steaks we have ever had in the steakhouse 2 minutes away (great cocktails too). Many interesting places to visit such as Dartmoor, Dartmouth, Totnes, and the English Riviera are within easy reach of Kingsbridge. There are a great number of good safe beaches within a 10 to 15 drive from Kingsbridge. North and South sands in Salcombe. Thurlestone and South Milton are close and Torcross and Slapton Sands are where the Normandy landing were practised 70 years ago. (operation Tiger) Bantham and the walk or sea tractor to Burgh Island are well worth a visit. The South Devon Coastal path is easily reached from Kingsbridge. As we are right in the centre of Kingsbridge we are not a quiet cottage in the middle of nowhere and it can sometimes be a little noisy in the evening. whilst this isn't ideal and has worsened over the years with pubs opening later. we feel that it doesn't bother us to much and is vastly outweighed by the convenience of being able to go out in the evening into town without worrying about parking and never being more than a few minutes walk from home and a nice cup of tea and a comfortable sofa to relax in.
