The area is very tranquil and quiet, read what our visitors say.
The village consist of fishmonger, butcher, baker, restaurants, cafes, hairdressers, banks, supermarkets, newspapers, tobacco, hardware ... but also personal services including medical, post office, a veterinary clinic, a leisure center, a municipal police force, a gendarmerie!
La Croix Valmer has a market every Sunday morning on the Place des Palmiers. there is something for everyone! meat, Local produce, fruits and vegetables, smells and memories of Provence, crafts, jewellery and clothing, you will not leave empty handed.
History of the Village
According to legend, the name of La Croix Valmer comes from the Roman Emperor Constantine, on his way to Rome in 312 during a well deserved break in St-Tropez, might have appeared in the sky accompanied by a cross the words "In Hoc Signo Vinces" (By this sign you will conquer) This legendary event was immortalized in 1893 by building a cross-shaped monument, erected today near the roundabout opposite the tourist office, on the very spot where he had his vision . The reality is different. . The etymology of the name actually comes from its location, "The Crous" meaning the crossroads, "Vaumar" meaning "valley of the sea" since the village was located at the top of the hill.

Leave ReviewYet another wonderful holiday at the villa all enjoyed ourselves just having a good rest and taking in the beautiful views. So much so that we are reluctant to leave it all even to go shopping. We all got a bit sad when packing our bags to return home but there’s always the silver lining! Returning next year. Sadly we are now at the end of our two weeks (1st visit!) in Meliana. Had a lovely, relaxing stress free holiday made all the more pleasant with the help of Rene and Christine and Tony and Lindsay. Will never tire of that wonderful view! Hope to see you again next year
We are the first quests of the year and hope that all who follow have such a wonderful time as us. Blue sky all through our stay, who said you, cannot come to the South of France in January.
What luck to have had the opportunity to visit this beautiful villa at this most special time of the year. Thanks to Helen and her family we have all had a wonderful holiday-perfect weather-wonderful views and so idyllic!! We do hope that we shall have the chance to return. Many thanks to Rene for his welcome. Thank you very much
And after each “expedition” we come back to the lovely Villa Meliana – paradise found! We so enjoy the idyllic garden too, the hibisars in flower and the lovely caupsis, dropping the occasional petal on the terrace-such poetry. Thank you so much for everything.
After many years of renting here, this is the cherry on the cake. Thank you for the fantastic view. We’ll be back.
