Gospenheale is Cornish for “the settlement in the nook at the edge of the moor”. This perfectly describes the beautiful setting for this barn conversion, providing award winning 4 star self catering holiday accommodation for up to 6 people. The holiday let has been inspected by Quality in Tourism and has been awarded 4 star GOLD status for the past 8 years. In 2017 we were delighted to receive a (ROSE) Recognition Of Service Excellence Award from Visit England.

The property is ideal for holidays and also perfect for people visiting family and friends in the Launceston area. We offer a £100 discount for couples sharing one bedroom and also £100 off for fortnight bookings. Please check our website for details of any other current offers and for short break availability. We may also be able to accommodate you for longer stays when moving house or needing furnished accommodation for a few weeks.

Set alongside our farm in a quiet hamlet the cottage enjoys wonderful views of the North Cornwall countryside. Gospenheale Barn near Launceston, has been carefully converted by an excellent local builder giving a unique feel to the property with many character features. Both the North and South Cornish coasts are easily accessible with sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and quiet coves. For those who like walking there are miles of country footpaths to explore. The historic market town of Launceston is just 5 miles away, offering a range of shops and services.

The open plan first floor living area has exposed oak A-frames, wooden floors and beautiful views across the patchwork of local farmland with Dartmoor in the distance. The lounge has a Smart TV, DVD player, comfy Laura Ashley leather sofas (new in 2018) and a selection of books, games, toys and DVD’s for guests to use. Free Broadband is provided. A large kitchen area has been fitted with electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer dryer. The French windows open onto the original granite steps which lead down to a large garden, patio and parking area.

The location is a perfect 'jumping off' point

By Jane on 17-Jun-2018

A wonderful week. The Barn really is a very special place and we would be hard pushed to think of a better equipped or stocked house in our 30+ years of self catering - and the scones were delicious! The location is a perfect 'jumping off' point for not only most of Cornwall - coasts and inland - but also North Devon and Plymouth. Perfect for people like us who want to explore and experience everything Cornwall has to offer and then come back to a warm welcoming environment, comfy beds and plenty of hot water! And its so close to the A30 with very easy access and so near to shops etc in Launceston and some good pubs for suppers. We will, as the saying goes, be back!

A fantastic venue a real gem. You couldn’t fail to enjoy the barn. Everything has been thought about. Bridget and David are extremely thoughtful hosts. They provided lots of useful information about places to eat. The Eliot Arms and Thd Rising Sun were excellent. Cannot wait to go back,

The epitome of 'getting away from it all'.

By LJMFD on 30-Apr-2018

Despite being conveniently tucked away off of the A30 Gospenheale Barn is very well located for exploring both locally and regionally. The barn itself has wonderful views and just the right balance of privacy for relaxation as well a sense of security from the very friendly surrounding community. Given our unfortunately late arrival we were very surprised and grateful for the amount of items that Bridget and David had provided in the accommodation from bread, scones, juice and milk to games, Netflix and postcards it really was all there. That also highlights the nature of the hosts who it is clear have paid great attention to the needs of guests in order to ensure that this is a truly hospitable and comfortable environment where one can really relax. We enjoyed a wonderful walk around the farm on our last day courtesy of David and I sincerely say that as a city dweller this is the epitome of 'getting away from it all'.

The listing for the Barn only gives you a hint at how pleasant it really

By Stephen P on 25-Apr-2018

The listing for the Barn only gives you a hint at how pleasant it really is and how wonderful the hosts are (that includes their friendly dog Bob). Receiving a warm welcome along with a tin of tasty homemade scones was a lovely touch!! The location was perfect for our visit and allowed us to see quite a lot in just a few days. Coming back at the end of a fun-filled day was like coming home with all the amenities you could want (very clean, beds comfy, water pressure fabulous, modern conveniences...you can tell David/Bridget put a great deal of planning and care into the Barn's conversion). Our only regret was not planning our trip to stay a little longer as we felt like we didn't have enough time to see everything the area has to offer; will just have to plan another visit. And course we highly recommend visiting Pipers Pool and staying at David and Bridget's Barn. P.S. When you visit, be sure to watch the DVD of the conversion. You'll realize how much work really went into making this such a lovely place to stay.

Gospenheale is a real gem of a place to stay.

By David G on 28-Feb-2018

Gospenheale is a real gem of a place to stay. The quality of accommodation was spectacular throughout and additional thoughtful touches really made the trip. The location is ideal for exploring Cornwall, being close to the A30, but also with that nice remote feel. Your hosts will do a fantastic job of welcoming you and explaining the property and surroundings, whilst Bob the Dog will keep you entertained with his frisbee. Pros.. Great facilities (kitchen and bathrooms) Comfortable and cosy (great beds!) Smart TV (evening Netflix) Good Wifi Clotted Cream and Scones Cons.. Not enough time to play with Bob Dog

“Ultimate Cornish Get-Away”

By David G on 20-Feb-2018

Gospenheale Barn is ideally situated as a jumping off point to explore Cornwall.

Conveniently but not intrusively(!) situated close to the A30, it was easy day tripping from here, and we explored far and wide!

I am lucky enough to have travelled extensively on business and developed somewhat of a critical eye for rooms, bathrooms, living areas and so on. Therefore, its easy for me to confidently say that Gospenheale provides an extremely high level of accommodation and facilities. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, nice little touches... it has it all.

The owners are also very friendly, welcoming and happy to help enhance your stay in any way.

Finally, Bob the Dog was always on hand for a play if needed. ;)

Love it !

By Sieske Valk on 21-Aug-2017

We've stayed in the barn twice now and absolutely love it!
The living area is spacious, warm and beautifully decorated, the kitchen has everything you need and more and is very clean. As are the bathrooms (way better quality than at home!). The beds are very comfi and I always sleep very good. I don't know whether it's the beds, the fresh, clean Cornish air or the silence, but I am hooked. Certainly a recommendation if you would like a week (or more) of peace, quiet and Cornish pasties/scones. Then there are the hosts (very welcoming, bearing scones), their dog Bob (always in for a play/walk), and the vicinity of great activities (check out Hidden Valley - A hidden gem for small and the erm.. bigger kids).

Return again and again.

By Mike And Patsy on 26-Jul-2017

We have just booked into the Barn for a late summer holiday, after already spending a week there in April of this year 2017.
It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy all of the comforts that the Barn has to offer.
Located in beautiful countryside with far reaching views to Dartmoor and within easy reach of the beaches and places of interest of both north and south Cornwall.
David and Bridget are perfect hosts, and welcomed us with a super Cornish cream tea
which included Bridget's delicious home made scones.
The Barn is beautiful conversion with a warm and homely feel. We are really looking forward to our stay in September.

Stunning property in a great location!

By The Property Is Exactly As Per The Photos And You on 08-Jun-2016

The property is exactly as per the photos and you will not be disappointed. We arrived after a very long journey to be met by Dave and Bridget and Bob the dog and a home made cream tea, which was most appreciated. A quick tour of the property revealed a very clean accomodation with everything you need for a home away from home. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms are clean and modern. The kitchen has all you want and more with everything we have at home plus a few things we dont! The lounge/dining area is spacious and there is a wide selection of dvds, books and games if you want them.

David and Bridget are perfect hosts and are on hand for any questions or advice on the local area. We took them up on their offer of a walk round the farm lands which is a nice way to spend an hour in the evening. The area truly is peaceful with great views. Bob the dog likes a game of frisbee but does not jump up or bother you if you decide you dont want to play. In fact my 12 year old son has always been wary of dogs but left at the end of the week thoroughly missing his new best friend.

The location is very peaceful with David on one side and his parents next door over the wall and no noise from the surrounding working farms. Launceston itself is 10 minutes away and has a 24 hour Tesco if needed as well as a good selection of local shops in the town square. Tintagel, Boscastle about 20 minutes away, Padstow and Bude about 30 minutes with St. Michaels Mount the furthest we travelled but still only about an hour and a half away. We had great weather so were able to enjoy all the sights and return in the evening to a true home from home.

In short if you are looking for a clean, well equipped holiday home in a great location in Cornwall then look no further, book it and you wont be disappointed.
