This is one of the sunniest areas of France, one where you can remember the rainy days because there are so few. A perfect climate to explore or just enjoy the sunshine. It would be a shame, though, not to do some exploring of this area steeped in history. You are after all in the heart of the Cathar country where you can relive the epic 13th century crusades against the heretics , visit the numerous Chateaux of the area and no visit to the area would be complete without a visit to “La Cite” , the fortified Medieval town of Carcassonne. Limoux has a wide variety of bars, restaurants and good shopping facilities. Nearby sports include kayaking, horse riding, cycling, hiking and tennis. Easy access to the fortified city of Carcassonne (airport & golf 25 mins.). The Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees are only an hour's drive. Budget flights are available from Stansted, Liverpool, Manchester, East Mids. and Dublin to Carcassonne (Ryan air). Other nearby airports include Toulouse, Beziers, Perpignan & Montpellier.

A personal note from the owners:
We are a family of 4. Alison is a retired primary school teacher and Kevin a retired firefighter. fell in love with this area when on holiday and settled out here with our family in 2005. The magic of Limoux and the surrounding area has not waned and we always take a breath as we drive over the brow of the hill into Limoux no matter what time of day or year, hence the naming of our house Quatre Saisons, (4 Seasons).
We feel our house has a warm, welcoming feel, which we felt from the moment we purchased it. We have found much happiness here surrounded by family and friends.
The open plan layout and easy access to the outside areas lend themselves to spending quality time together eating, swimming, playing, sunbathing or indulging in the fine wines of the Languedoc!
Within walking distance of Limoux, (15 mins.), you can enjoy the restaurants and bars of the town centre and the Tuesday evening market, July/August.
On balmy evenings what could be more wonderful to finish the day than with a final dip in the warm, softly lit pool.....

Lovely Villa And Countryside

By Carol G. on 25-Jun-2018

We were made most welcome by the owners, who are on hand to help if required. On arrival there was a very nicely stocked fridge with starter food provisions and a lovely vase of flowers, these are thoughtful touches. The villa is beautifully clean and well maintained, very quiet and peaceful in an area with lots of places to visit. Lovely pool to cool off in and a nice shady terrace and gazebo area for relaxing in well tended grounds. We were just a couple but ideal too for families. A lovely enjoyable week. Thank you and hope to return when next in the area. Highly recommend to all.

A Great Family Week In Limoux In A Wonderful Villa

By Matthew F on 21-May-2018

This is a great 4 bedroomed villa on the edge of Limoux amidst vineyards. It is very well maintained and equipped. The pool is excellent with a number of relaxing places to seek both sun and shade. The BBQ is great. Alison and Kevin live on site in an adjoining house but they are very discreet and made excellent hosts.

Perfect Villa For Us!

By Michael B on 21-May-2018

We left booking a villa a little late and we were very lucky that Kevin and Alison's villa came available. My wife and I stayed here for 2 weeks and my son and his partner joined us for a week. The villa was absolutely perfect for the four of us and Kevin and Alison were excellent hosts and they were always on hand to help if needed, the villa itself is not overlooked by them and the pool and garden are very secluded. The pool is just the right size and temperature t,here were plenty of sun loungers and a variety of shaded outdoor spaces for cooling down a little and enjoying all your meals al fresco. It was really nice to go to a villa which is well equipped as all too often they are not. The villa is very comfortable and the bedrooms are of a good size and even on warm evening with the doors open and the fans on it was very pleasant we enjoyed using the fantastic barbecue area most evenings. The Wi-Fi was a little patchy outside but ok inside the villa. The general area is lovely and Limoux and Mirepoix and Carcassonne are really worth a visit.

My Response

Following this lovely review and in our policy of listening to our clients we have addressed the issue of the WiFi by installing an extra booster and this has solved the problem.

Great All Round Villa - We Didn't Want To Leave!

By Laurence M. on 21-May-2018

Just back from a 10-day stay in June/July 2016. We selected this villa from a different website where it had been listed for a number of years and had lots of good reviews. Kevin and Alison are excellent hosts - their house is next door, so they were always on hand to help, but the villa itself is not overlooked by them and the pool and garden are very secluded with nice open outlook to the neighbouring vineyard and surrounding hills. The pool is fabulous, an even depth of about 1.5m and kept at a nice and warm 28 degrees and very clean. Plenty of sun loungers and a variety of shaded outdoor spaces for cooling down a little and enjoying all your meals al fresco. Indoors, the kitchen is very well equipped, plenty of lounge/dining space and 4 good sized bedrooms. In a quiet location. Excellent for a morning run through the vineyards. But also only 10 minutes walk from a few small shops; Limoux centre is about 20 minutes walk and, in the other direction, its about 15 minutes walk to a fabulous boulangerie, which itself is close to a huge hypermarket where you can stock up on everything you are likely to need. The villa is so comfortable that you may well not want to leave it very much - we didn't and enjoyed a barbecue most evenings. However, there is quite a range of restaurants in Limoux which is a lovely town. Carcassonne is well worth a trip and is about 30 minutes drive. Highly recommended.

Home From Home

By Michelle C on 24-Aug-2016

We had a wonderful 2 weeks in this beautiful villa. The villa was spacious and homely. The pool was clean and warm (28') all day and night. The grounds have plenty of space for playing with the kids or sunbathing. A perfect sun trap and excellent base for exploring Languedoc. The owners were kind and helpful but left us to our own devices. We would love to stay in the villa again if we return to Limoux.
