Very comfortable and perfect for our family visit

By Afmmbob on 08-Jan-2018

Farm cottage is a great place to stay near Bodmin. Superbly well equipped, we couldn't fault it on anything. The welcome hamper was an especially nice touch. We would definitely stay again.RThis

A luxurious tastefully appointed lodge in a lush green peaceful valley

By Annielaurie35 on 01-Aug-2017

As this was our second visit to Rivermead we knew we were going to a super location in the heart of Cornwall,a half hour at most from both coastlines. Our hosts did not disappoint with their welcome basket(we knew they would n't)no cheapos from Marjorie and Kevin, cornish butter ,large local eggs, clotted cream, scones I could go on it was a delight. We stayed in one of the new lodges this time and the furnishings and facilities were first class from the Portmeirion china to Viners cutlery plus the spectacular views across the valley and evening walks along the river.Absolutely everything has been thought of we hope to return

A lovely cottage

By Hollie-I10qskkuo2hdce on 16-Apr-2017

We had a wonderful stay at your Cottage. The cottage was perfect for us for our short break. The cottage was well equipped with everything you would need for a short break and the welcome package was a lovely touch. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The cottage was located perfectly with easy access to some local days out. We would definitely consider coming to stay again and will recommend your cottage to our friends and family. 5.0 / 5.0

A cornish Idyll.

By Scarface347 on 19-Nov-2016

After a very friendly exchange of emails to confirm booking details, we arrived to find a welcome 'hamper' of milk, butter, scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam. We had not travelled far to get to Rivermead, but that welcoming gesture, and the personalised welcome on the chalk-board above it, set the tone for the whole week. Really well appointed and comfortably furnished, with all mod cons in the kitchen (even the mugs are Dunoon ceramics!) we wanted for nothing in Rivermead Cottage. A family group of four, with a 93 year old lady who used the downstairs bedroom and bathroom (a REALLY useful feature of this cottage) we immediately felt right at home. With an 8 month old puppy (we had notified the owners of this and they agreed we could take Lotti, our German Wirehaired Pointer) the estate was a dream come true; straight out of the door and a short walk down to the river bank (of the River Fowey) then a half mile walk along it to the trout pond (stocked with brown trout, and a birdwatchers haven), before going up hill onto the wide manicured lawns and back through little spinneys with wild undergrowth in the bottom. Fantastic for a young dog, who really developed confidence in water and learned to swim properly. As a touring base it is excellent; we did not venture out every day (it was a wettish November and some attractions were closed or on limited hours) but went to Lanhydrock House, the Eden Project and the town of Fowey on 3 of our 6 days there. With a beautiful golden autumn this year, the remaining days were spent in the delightful, tranquil, grounds of Rivermead. Marjorie and Kevin, the owners, have thought of everything - even down to providing raised chairs, binoculars and bird species charts in the wooden 'birding' hut overlooking the pond! That level of forethought and 'customer care' is a rare find these days. In addition, Kevin is an ever-present smiling and friendly face for whom no problem is insuperable; what he cannot find or fix then, he will sort out ASAP. We were delighted with our stay, and have vowed to return again in 2017 to this realy charming, relaxing, hospitable and beautiful little Cornish idyll - and it's caring and consciencious owners. Only down-side (if it IS a down-side!) was that the wifi signal was a bit hit-and-miss and fairly weak; once we knew that, the iPads were abandoned - which probably added to the 'get away from it all' feel of our holiday there!

Relaxing family stay - with a few pleasant surprises

By Vale Golf on 08-Aug-2016

We stayed for a week at Rivermead cottage which was spacious and well equipped. The property is beautifully situated for touring Cornwall and was not too far from destinations on both coasts. The hosts were friendly and helpful and wed were treated to a lovely welcome pack containing a few essentials - eggs, butter, milk etc and ingredients for an arrival cream tea. We knew the grounds were extensive and offered fishing walks. But the garden games were a welcome treat for our teenage lads and the fire pit was well used by us for bbqs and toasting marshmallows. Gorgeous, Amazing, Wonderful.

By Funkyfin2000 on 04-Jun-2016

Well, what can we say, both my family and our friends family have literally arrived back from Rivermead this afternoon and we are SO sad to go. The place is gorgeous, it's set in acres of it's own land with walks, games and fun to be had before you even get into the property or into other things in Cornwall to do! Marjorie & Kevin were just amazing hosts, a lovely hamper full of freshly prepared scones and jam and clotted cream with other goodies was left and everything was just amazing. We talked with Kevin lots during our stay and you can tell the business is so well looked after and cherished. They were both so friendly, not intrusive in anyway and they have a beautiful Old English dog who was lovely. The property itself was the large cottage - very old - 17th century I think, creaks and low ceilings, just wonderful. Wifi was poor, but not to be unexpected and just sat outside if we needed it more :) Our one regret was not doing a BBQ but we cooked in every night and the kitchen was VERY well equipped, you had everything you could ever want! All in all, we would love to come back, very reasonably priced, not far from the sea at all (about 10-15miles each way (North and South) and was a great location for anything you could ever way being in Cornwall! Thanks again - what a perfect week for us all!

A perfect mid-week break for the whole family

By M W Clarke on 25-May-2015

We stayed in the Rivermead cottages in May 2015 for a mid-week wedding 4 miles away. It was a beautiful cottage, that suited all our party (Grandparents, my wife and I and our two young children). The cottage was spotlessly clean and tidy. The showers were also very powerful and hot! On arrival, there was a beautiful hamper with provisions to get us started (including milk, bread, home-made scones, jam, apple juice and wine!) - it was a lovely surprise. A nice touch to have a welcome message also written on the blackboard. The setting is beautiful - the river nearby has crystal clear waters and is a nice, safe, walk for us and our 6 year old and 2 year old. There are ample games stored in the outside cupboard which kept our children entertained away from their home comforts. Although there is freeview on hand when they inevitably want to watch Cbeebies! Our hosts were very welcoming, but not intrusive. They were on hand if anything went wrong. Overall, I would highly recommend a stay here - and we shall have no hesitation in re-booking for another visit, 5.0 / 5.0

Rivermead Cottage

By Mark Jeffery on 28-Aug-2014

Rivermead Cottage was perfect for our stay. The house itself is really nice with a very traditional feel but very well equipped and appointed. Having a bedroom and second bathroom on the ground floor worked out really well for my Mum who is less able to get upstairs nowadays. The chip and putt, boules, croquet, circuit training, and the river and lake in the extensive grounds were a real bonus for us all. We had the run of the place pretty much to ourselves even in mid-August. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the very generous welcome hamper was much appreciated. Thanks too for the special flowers for my Mum's birthday. 5.0 / 5.0 28/08/2014 10:14:48

Quality throughout

By Kencat1966 on 26-Jul-2014

Everyone of our extended family with ages ranging from 64 to 11 greatly enjoyed the magic experience of this quality cottage set in idyllic surroundings that resulted in a memorable holiday experience for all concerned. The cottage is well equipped with quality fixture and fittings in every room but the real bonus was the extensive grounds where our grandchildren could play virtually every sport possible including a 4 hole golf course that was certainly challenging. None of our party are keen on fishing as that it was one of the big attractions but it did not detract at all from the enjoyment of our holiday and I would recommend this cottage to all

Fantastic holiday base

By Cheryl H on 08-Jun-2014

I stayed at Rivermead again with my daughter who took full advantage of the beautiful grounds, seeing many birds (including the kingfisher). The cottage is very well equipped, comfortable and a fantastic base for touring both north and South Cornwall. Marjorie and Kevin really understand their guests needs and nothing is too much trouble. The hamper is great too. We explored more this visit particularly the coast from Padstow down to Gwithian which is amazing. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be back.

Fantastic holiday, cant wait to go back

By Andienich on 28-Apr-2014

Six adults and two teenagers stayed at farm cottage which had all the comforts of home, everything was of high quality and the layout of the cottage meant we were all very comfortable. The cottages are in a great location for touring Cornwall and if you want to relax the grounds and the river are amasing. Kevin and Marjorie are a mind of information and great hosts, the luxury welcome hamper was a lovely touch.

Relaxing break.

By Pezler on 22-Oct-2013

Our stay at Rivermead was outstanding. The location of the cottage was down a quiet lane, a short distance from a main road, but was quiet & secluded.. The grounds had a lake & a stream both good for fishing & the woods & greens were in immaculate condition. The cottage was warm & cozy & very comfortable. The "Welcome Hamper" was jam-packed full of "goodies" ( & im not talking Bill Oddie ), the like of which anybody in my party had never had before. Would stay there again when down that way again, plus very good location for lots of short journeys to places of interest. 5.0 / 5.0

excellence in cornwall

By Zippy Bakst on 18-Sep-2013

Rivermead Cottage is in the most beautiful location and set in the most magnificent grounds. The owners were charming, kind and helpful. The cottage itself was exquisite, comfortable, charming and spotlessly clean. We don't have enough superlatives to express our feelings about this amazing place. The property itself is hidden from the main road, accessible through a gorgeous winding country road at the end of which one comes to a clearing and one sees the breathtaking setting. I would recommend Rivermead Cottage to anyone looking for a special holiday, with ultimate facilities for a quiet or busy time, whether never leaving the grounds or doing daily outings all over Cornwall. 5.0 / 5.0

Fabulous - can't wait to return.

By FrankT on 11-Sep-2013

Accomodation excellent, all the comforts of home in idyllic surroundings. When staying in hotels, holiday cottages, We like to feel we are the only people to sleep in the bed and use the facilities. The cleaniness of Rivermead achieved this. It is conveniently located for touring cornwall. Hosts geninuely friendly and welcoming. River on the doorstep. This will always be our preferred venue when holidaying in cornwall.

The best holiday cottage we've rented, and we've rented a lot!

By Brownies_wife on 23-May-2013

It really was fantastic. From the very warm, personal welcome, to the hamper of wonderful goodies, home-made scones and dairy products to the most comfortable, well equipped and immaculately presented cottage. Could not fault one thing AT ALL. We holidayed with both our sets of parents and our children and quite literally there was nothing more we could have asked for. The house was so wonderful, the grounds and fishing, made all the better by 2 fish caught. We will, without doubt, all be back. Thanks must go to the wonderful hosts who were there when needed but not in the way at all. They made us feel so welcome and the grounds and house immaculate. Thank you and see you soon. Lisa and all the family xxx

Lovely relaxing holiday in beautiful location

By Susan S on 17-May-2013

Enjoyed our week long break immensely. Kingfisher Cottage was fully equipped(home from home). it was comfortable and immaculate. furnishings all good quality. Marjorie and Kevin will make you very welcome starting with a lovely hamper full of local goodies. They will always be on hand with advice if needed or for a friendly chat, but in an unobtrusive way. Surroundings absolutely beautiful, was fab to open bedroom curtains in morning to amazing views. Handy to A road so near to lots of other beautiful areas of Cornwall. Hopefully can go back soon

A stunning cottage and location. Peace and tranquility in abundance.

By Julie D on 11-Apr-2013

We stayed at the cottage with our 9 year twins and grandparent and we all had a special holiday.A great place for our family that has left us with lovely memories. We were greeted by Kevin and Marjorie's warm welcome which continued throughout the stay. The welcome basket was full of tempting Cornish produce and Easter eggs. Our hosts could not do enough for us ( including rescuing a rogue ball that found its way into the river - thank you Kevin, you saved the day! The cottage is beautiful with everything you could want for. The beds are comfortable, the lounge perfect for relaxing ( especially on April evenings with the the log burner) and it all so tastefully put together. We thought we had booked a lovely cottage by looking at the website but we were taken away by the reality of it.It exceeded all our expectations by far, this including the grounds which are just magical. There are lots of lovely places to visit nearby and further afield but our children were always itching to come back to play in their own 'country park.' We would recommend this cottage without hesitation. We booked this break with the intention of leaving behind busy family and working lives for a while. We were delighted that this cottage in this location delivered, we left relaxed and recharged. Thank you Kevin and Marjorie.

Magical ;Darling buds of May; Rivermead Farm Cottage surpassed our expectations.

By Gaynor Jane Turner on 05-Oct-2012

We loved Rivermead Farm Cottage. We travelled there in September 2012 with extended family which can be trying at the best of times but the minute we were welcomed by the wonderful owners into Rivermead Farm Cottage all the cares of the world melted away. From the photographs you can see the pretty cottage style decor but what you cant see is the extremely high quality of the decor and the furnishings. Rivermead Farm cottage is sparkling clean and oh so cosy with a well equipped kitchen and some of the most gorgeous views that i have ever seen. Mr and Mrs Creek obviously love their beautiful cottages (yes there are more on the same property and we are planning a trip with friends in the new year as between them they sleep 20!) and the care and attention to detail that they have lavished on them are obvious from the start. We had all sorts of extra goodies that we really didnt expect but that made us feel so special and welcome. Bodmin Moor is a beautiful part of the country and I absolutely recommend Rivermead Farm Cottage.

An excellent detached holiday cottage furnished and equipped to a high standard

By Robert K on 04-Oct-2012

My wife and I, and friends, were delighted with this cottage which we had booked for a week's fishing holiday at the end of September. We were made very welcome upon arrival by the owners, Kevin and Marjorie, who showed us around the cottage and provided us with a generous welcome hamper. The cottage is situated in a superb location, surrounded by woodland, and within 100 yards of the River Fowey, one of the country's foremost game-fishing rivers. There are extensive lawns, woods, and riverside walks within the owner's grounds which guests are free to enjoy. A large trout lake is situated in the grounds, and the owners have created various interesting distractions such as climbing frames and parallel bars etc as you wander around the grounds. The cottage itself is charming, clean, warm and cosy, and is well-furnished and fully equipped, with very good quality fixtures and fittings, and there was nothing that we needed that wasn't provided. The layout is ideal for two or more families holidaying together, as sleeping and bath/shower arrangements are ideally separated to accommodate each family having their own private facilities, but sharing the large kitchen and comfortable lounge. There is a large inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove in the lounge, and although it was not cold enough for us to use this, I can imagine that it would be magical on a cold autumn or winter night, with a glass of whisky.... The location is ideal for easy drives to Looe, Polperro, Fowey etc.

A fantastic cottage in a beautiful location.

By Hils775 on 13-Sep-2012

Marjorie and Kevin made us very welcome with the gorgeous welcome hamper being a wonderful touch. Who wouldn't want to be welcomed by scones, jam and clotted cream?! The cottage was beautifully decorated with extremely comfortable beds. The cottage has everything you need, from wifi, DVD player to board games for the children and gas BBQ. As we were the only ones with children that week, the children were delighted when Kevin moved the seesaw to outside our cottage. The location is beautiful, close to the river and a lake. Perfect for fishing or just enjoying the peace and quiet. We saw kingfishers and also a mother and baby deer in the next field every afternoon. We used the cottage as a great central base to explore all of Cornwall. I can't recommend Rivermead Farm highly enough and can't wait to return.

A very relaxing, welcoming and home from home holiday

By Cheryl H on 31-May-2012

The cottage is very well equiped, paticularly the kitchen and the cottage has lovely period features. The beds were very comfy too! The welcome hamper was great and the grounds are 'to-die-for'! The welcome from our hosts was cheerful, positive and nothing was too much trouble, including great suggestions for days out and places to eat and shop (check out Trago Mills)! There is great birdwatching and the hosts were very enthusiastic about the home and their future plans for it! Definitly one to revisit soon!!
