Perfect family accommodation

By Georgina Threlfall on 05-Oct-2020

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. It was perfect for the children with the large well maintained (fully enclosed) garden and in such a scenic location. We all commented on how Jannette had thought of everything within the accommodation- which was beautifully furnished. A perfect family holiday destination.

Fantastic Week

By Mr D Doran on 02-Oct-2020

Just back from a fantastic week spent at Ysgubor Celyn Megan and can state that it won’t be long until we rebook (once the world reopens!).
Everyone loved every minute it was clean, functional and fantastic for kids and the dog.
The setting is brilliant with great views and peace and quiet! The grounds are pristine and spacious with fields all round.
The local next door was nice as was the Swan Inn a short walk away.
Thanks very much to all concerned for a fantastic week.
Thoughtful amenities -Historic building - Spacious rooms

Exceeded Expectations

By Maria Curtis on 21-Aug-2020

Comment: Just returned from a wonderful week at Meghan's. The property is spacious and welcoming, comfortable and extremely well kept. We had everything we needed for our holiday and definitely hope to have a return visit in the future, would highly recommend a stay here. The property was immaculately clean which was very comforting in the current climate. The views from the garden and windows are spectacular and there is so much to do in the local area. The owner Janette was lovely when we were in touch for key collection details and gave contact details for anything we might need during our stay

Wonderful Place

By Ate Of Stay: August 2020 on 11-Aug-2020

Though booked through Sykes our only contact was with Jannette the actual owner. With the Covid-19 situation it was impossible to get hold of Sykes. Jannette first made contact a few weeks prior to our arrival and kept in regular contact and was willing to offer a refund right up to the last minute if we had to cancel. Something Sykes weren’t prepared to offer.

Well, after much trepidation we decided to go ahead and we weren’t disappointed. Far from it, what a delightful place; the village, the area, the cottage, the gardens. Just what we all needed. Jannette has thought of everything and has a very capable housekeeper who we were also in contact with.

We loved every minute, the grandsons did, the dog did, in fact everyone had a wonderful time.
I’d also recommend the Mulberry Inn next door...lovely food and very accommodating.

We have just returned from an incredible few days at Megan’s cottage. The views were spectacular and the location was ideal for day trips into Llangollen and surrounding areas. The cottage and gardens are immaculately presented. There was a fully equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need. 9 of us stayed at the cottage and there were plenty of spaces to sit if you fancied five minutes to yourself. A truly special place. I can’t recommend this property highly enough.

“Stunning Cottage”
We have just returned from a wet but fabulous weekend in Llangollen staying at Ysgubor Celyn Megan's cottage. The cottage is immaculately clean and an absolute credit to the owners who have thought of every detail. There were three families (9 of us) and our dogs and there was more than enough room for us to enjoy the different aspects of the cottage and the stunning scenery that the cottage and village offers. Everything has been done to a high standard and our only wish was that we had stayed longer. The adjacent mulberry inn was an excellent recommendation for Sunday lunch and the landlord and the team really looked after us all, even the dogs were welcome. A truly wonderful break in a fabulous cottage and we’ve already booked our return trip.

The Best

By Mrs Anthisle on 06-Dec-2019

Mrs Anthistle
December 2019

“We have stayed in many self catering cottages in our time.”
This was definitely the best. Megan was immaculately clean, fantastically well equipped and with very flexible and practical accomdation. Our group of 8 adults, 2 children and an infant had lots of space. There was a toy box for the children, lots of DVD's, games and books. The kitchen had a wealth of equipment, loads of plates, glasses and cutlery. Views from the cottage were great, it was very quiet, yet close to the village of Chirk with a range of shops. We came for a family wedding so we didn't get a chance to explore much of the local area but other wedding attendees visited Chirk Castle, Llangollen and the aqueduct at Trevor.

The Pub Next Door

By Mr Allum on 09-Aug-2019

August 2019

“Wow what an incredible property, every home essential is in the property, everything about the house is first class.”
The views are to die for and loads of outside space for fun and games. Seven adults and two grandchildren ( 2+4) with room to spare. A large kitchen and a large dining room made eating at home really enjoyable. Plenty of room in all the bedrooms and a large lounge with patio doors made for some lively evenings, games for adults and children are in abundance in the property. The information and directions were spot on and the location enabled lazy days at home or easy drive days out as the coast ( Rhyll) is only 1.5 hours drive as is Snowdon. The pub next door is very friendly but try the Swan at Portfadog it is great for a night out. The owner is a true diamond and ensures that you want for nothing. Well done Sykes cottages for finding this Gem.

Beautifully Converted

By Mrs Morris on 26-Jul-2019

“Ysgubor Celyn Megan is a beautifully converted farm cottage and barn in the tiny village of Llwynmawr in the glorious Ceiriog valley.”
All the workmanship is of the highest standard and the kitchen is very well equipped. Cleanliness is outstanding. There is a large lawned area where our grandchildren play happily and round the back, bees hum in the lavender border. A fenced stream runs around the property. Chirk is not far away. The village boasts an excellent butcher and greengrocer, a really good fish and chip shop in Chirk Green opposite the Coop and a good Indian restaurant. Child-friendly attractions nearby include Plas Madoc swimming pool with waves and slides and Ty Mawr country park. The famous Pontcysyllte aqueduct is not to be missed.ed We have stayed in this cottage three years on the run.

Lovely Converted Barn

By Mr Yerburgh on 12-Jul-2019

“What a lovely converted barn.”
We had a great few days and will certainly be looking to book for some time next year!! The facilities were good. The only slight let-down was the fact there was only one shower, the other two were over the bath with no curtains/glass. The barn was really well stocked and well thought out. The location, even with the amazing pub next door was so quiet and peaceful.

Remote and Peaceful

By Mrs Alex Moore on 12-Jun-2019

First Class

By Mrs Harold on 24-May-2019

“First class accommodation in superb location, everything you could need.”
This immaculate, spacious, cozy, comfortable accommodation, in the heart of the beautiful Ceiriog Valley, could not have been better thought out. There is absolutely everything you could need for a family get together of 8 (takes 10) and everyone really appreciated the planning you have put into it. Delightfully furnished and comfy beds. We loved all the outside seating spots you have dotted around for a leisurely brunch or a few sherbets early evening and as the pub is just 55 seconds walk away that was a bonus! Situated for pleasant drives to Chirk Castle, Llangollen, Snowdonia or the Harlech coast. Davina, your Housekeeper, does an amazing job - it is spotless. We will be returning for sure. Jackie

Very Comfortable

By Mrs Joanna Jenkins on 12-Apr-2019

We had a wonderful week (with perfect weather) and Ysgubor Celyn Megan's was very comfortable, attractive and well equipped with a very helpful housekeeper. Our 4th cottage stay in Wales while we're walking Offa's Dyke, they've all been very good but this was the best.

Exceeded Expectations

By Mrs Kathy Clark on 04-Mar-2019

Comment: This was our second ‘book group on tour’ visit to the cottage and again we had a fantastic time. The cottage decor, the layout and the facilities are all excellent. The walks in the area are brilliant, whatever the weather...last year we braved the beast from the east, this year we had one fine day and one wet day, and walked over to Llangollen and back, and to Chirk Castle and back, from the cottage door. The local pubs in Pontfadog and next door at the Mulberry Inn were both welcome and welcoming. Thank you!
