in 2 Acres of Land, with Stunning Mountain Views,

Idyllic Location, Close to Village and Restaurants. Sleeps 7 (3 Bedrooms & 2 Bathrooms) 4* French Tourist
Board Rating.

Spring, Summer, Winter or Autumn, there are always things to see and do. Ideal for families, couples, energetic
children, and anyone who enjoys the great outdoors!

With over 300 days of sunshine a year, usually long hot days in the summer and skiing only a 5 minute drive away
in the winter, you really can have the best of both worlds.

The village is a 2 minute drive or 10/15 minute (flat) walk from the house. There is a general store, butcher, bakery,
2 hotels/restaurants/bars and a local produce store. Generally you can get all you need in the village. however,
there are 2 good supermarkets in Veynes (Super U and Dia) which is only a 20 minute drive.

There are several good restaurants in the village, but, Les Pervenches is only a 5 minute walk from the chalet and Nadine
and Gilbert serve wonderful home cooked food, in a traditional French setting. If you have a moment, look on Trip Advisor
at the reviews.

Notes on bedrooms:
Bedroom 1, King size double bed.
Bedroom 2, 2 single beds and a captain's bed sleeps 1/2.
The captain's bed in bedroom 2 is a single mattress. If you need any advice on suitability, just ask.
This is a good sized room and there is plenty of space for an additional inflatable bed on the floor if needed (can be supplied).
Bedroom 3, King size bed and en suite bathroom.

En suite bathroom to bedroom 3 with WC, large shower cubicle and basin.

Large main bathroom with WC, separate shower cubicle, basin and a proper full size "soaking/relaxing" bath.

Utility Room
Washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board, vacuum cleaner.

Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service
Bed linen and towels are included. The house is very easy to keep clean, however, a cleaning service is available by arrangement.

The conservatory is great in the Spring, Summer and Autumn as the doors all slide open to allow uninterrupted views of the surrounding
scenery and provide access to a cooling breeze. It gets a bit chilly in the winter, but doubles up as a really useful storage area for ski's and
snowboards etc.

Underneath the lounge is a separate games room with a table tennis table, tennis and badminton rackets, boule, an archery set and a selection
of games and toys.

Recommended property

By James Tucker on 15-Oct-2018

A very comfortable, clean and well equipped chalet located in a picturesque setting. The description of the property given on both the holiday France Direct site and that of the owner is accurate and honest. We travelled between the summer and winter seasons therefore some of the restaurants in the village were only open on odd occasions, no problems, the chalet has a very well equipped kitchen enabling us to practice our French Cuisine from the produce purchased in the local market. The village is quite isolated so be prepared to travel a bit if supermarket shopping is your thing. The booking process was easy and the owner Duncan responded very quickly and provided extensive details of the property and things to do in the local area. I particularly enjoyed mountain biking near the property. A local bike shop was able to complete running repairs on a buckled wheel, some of the terrain is quite rough but easier tracks and quite roads are available. We will go back to the area and would have no hesitation in recommending this property to family and friends.

Fantastic Holiday

By Diane Henderson & Family on 06-Sep-2018

Fantastic holiday, which ticked all our boxes: Spacious, well maintained, good quality accommodation Beautiful mountain area with well marked footpaths Amazing mountain biking up to 5,000' from the doorstep (XC) Challenging road bike hill climbing area Convenient village shops Local outdoor swimming (both the heated village pool and the river) Local English speaking assistance available Well worth the drive. We only used the car for a supermarket shop and to swim in the lake at Veynes. (Don't miss the inflatable aqua obstacle course at Veynes - children and adults. Brilliant fun) We loved it - adults and teenage children

Amazing time

By James Cornah & Family on 28-Aug-2018

We've just had the most amazing time here. The house is splendid and fully lives up to the description, roomy and well laid out with just about everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Very relaxing and a real home-from-home when you add in the freesat capability for the TV and broadband that satisfied our teenager. Our boys also loved the table tennis table in the basement and the garden plenty big enough to play frisbee in. We found that the nearby river was a great source of fun, with lovely plunge pools that you can almost swim in, and plenty of places to sunbathe. Further up the valley, our youngest loved the high-ropes course at Accrobuech. We also had a couple of day trips out to the lakes at la Germanette. The spectacular mountain road to Die is worth the drive as is the walk to the suspension footbridge at Mayres-Savel. Our hidden gem of the holiday (not to be found online) was the pottery of Michel Cohen, about halfway between Aspremont and Serres. Only a small roadside sign to point the way off the main road, but a treasure trove of wood-fired pottery from a friendly and English speaking artisan. The owners are very helpful and responded quickly to our questions when we were booking, making the whole process very easy. There's no question that we will book again if we return to this area.

A wonderful weeks stay

By Matt Powell on 08-Jul-2018

We had a wonderful weeks stay here at the end of June. The weather was fantastic. The house has everything you need and more. Very spacious inside and lots of outdoor space too for relaxing, playing games or enjoying a BBQ. The kitchen is fully equipped. The location gave us easy access to local attractions as well other attractions a short drive away such as Grenoble which has a lake you can swim in. Remuzat, a great place to watch vultures from the top of the mountain, which you can drive most of the way up if you don’t fancy the walk. Visited The Citadel in Sisteron, lovely panoramic views from the top, the town is lovely too. From the house it’s a short walk into the village where there’s a local supermarket to buy your essentials. A butchers we used most days that also sells bread, cakes and wine. There are also some nice restaurants if you’re looking to dine out. Didn’t use the nearby outdoor swimming pool but it looked very inviting. Also nearby is a plunge pool which we visited a few times, once after climbing one of the mountains opposite. Very cold but great to dip your feet in after a long hike. If you like walking, nature, exploring or simply just relaxing then this is the place to stay. Booking was made very easy. The owners provided lots of info on the local area and places to see and things to do. We will definitely be booking again. Highly Recommend!

10 out of 10

By David & Kim Edwards on 31-Oct-2017

We spent three weeks at Maison La Clairette in September with two other couples and cannot recommend it highly enough.
The house is situated on the outskirts of a small village, which is surrounded by mountains. It has all the necessary shops and a few lovely restaurants within walking distance.
The accommodation is very spacious and immaculate, with fantastic views from every window. The kitchen is very well equipped and we ate at the dining table in the conservatory most days. We were lucky to have lovely sunny weather a lot of the time.
We love the outdoors so enjoyed many walks, one in the village, through woods to a waterfall and another up one of the mountains visible from the conservatory.
We drove up to a nearby damn and reservoir (cant remember name). Sailing boats and lovely walks, very picturesque.
Local markets are always worth a visit too in the nearby villages and towns.
We tried two of the village restaurants and would recommend both, but you might need to book. They are both very friendly and offer local wine, which was excellent and cheap!
Pin D'epices is situated in the little village square and the lunch menu du jour was stunning. The other, Les Pervenches, is a 5 minute walk from the house and is very quirky, run by a French couple in a vaulted room. Again the food was amazing and great value with a set menu each day.
We will definitely return and may do so when there is a chance of snow to try out the village ski runs.
A memorable holiday!

An enjoyable family stay at Maison La Clairette

By Simone Dodgson on 13-Mar-2017

We had a fantastic half-term stay at Maison La Claret. The house was very comfortable and plenty of space for our family of five. The kitchen was well equipped. The open plan living dinning area worked very well for our family. The family enjoyed use of the table tennis table and archery set in the games room. The location of the house was perfect :- a short walk to the village shops and a family friendly ski resort only minutes away by car. Communication was excellent with the owner who could not be more helpful and informative. It was a great family holiday and hope to visit soon. The Dodgson Family

Wonderful chalet, great location!

By Stuart Irwin on 13-Jan-2017

Cracking chalet in a great location. Well equipped and very comfortable. Nice and clean with everything we needed to make the stay pleasurable. No snow at Jarejarette, but good skiing on Super Devoluy which was less than an hours drive away with some breathtaking scenery. The chalet was always nice to come back to, especially with the fire and the logs which are provided. Some lovely walks around, and a wonderful restaurant in the village where we went twice because it was so good and Marie looked after both of our familes so well. Many thanks to Duncan and Sarah and Louise for making our stay so enjoyable...we have already booked again for next year!

Wonderful mountain chalet

By Richard Field on 17-Oct-2016

The property is a modern chalet which is well appointed with comfortable bedrooms, wood burner (with dry logs provided) and everything you need including a games room, wifi and even 2 barbecues. Location is stunning with easy access for walks or skiing. Less than 2 hours from Lyon airport. We had a lovely holiday, going for long walks, road trips in the mountains and visits to nearby towns. Excellent local restaurants. Excellent service with all our queries answered immediately.

Review of Maison La Clairette. Lus La Haute

By Philip Burbidge on 08-Sep-2016

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks in a gorgeous setting. The chalet is well appointed, equipped, comfortable and with plenty of room for our family of four plus pooch to escape each other if needed. The balcony/conservatory is ideal for meals and playing games as the sun sets. The views are stunning and the chalet is within easy access of the myriad of walks, climbs, tree wire walking, down hill biking and other activities which are on offer. The village pool was clean spacious and pretty much empty even on the weekends. There can't be many pools which allow you to scull about lazily whilst looking up at the mountain backdrop. The village is a short walk and quiet with a fun market twice a week and some nice bars and restaurants. A quiet location which is still within easy reach of transport networks to visit other parts of the region. Would definitely return.

Fantastic retreat in beautiful surroundings

By Jo Carney on 17-Aug-2016

We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday in the chalet. The area surrounding Lus la Croix Haute is truly breathtaking. The chalet itself has everything you need for a relaxing holiday and was very clean when we arrived. The beds are very comfortable and though on several days the temperature reached 30 degrees we were never too hot in the evenings as the chalet (as long as the shutter are shut in the day when we were out) keeps nice and cool, though fans are available if needed. We especially enjoyed walking up to Les Pervanches restaurant in the evening and sampling local produce cooked to perfection, and with a four course meal for 18 euros we could not have asked for more. We visited Gap and Die and especially loved the lake at Veynes and the natural plunge pool just a ten minute walk away. There is more than enough to keep you occupied in the area but if you are just feeling lazy then the chalet has 2 acres of grounds, a table tennis table and sunbeds. The chalet was everything we were hoping for and Duncan could not have been more helpful, always replying to queries however trivial within just a few hours in many cases. We will certainly be recommending the chalet to family and friends.

Beautiful location, clean, comfortable house.

By Fiona Elborne on 16-Aug-2016

From the moment we first enquired about this property, Duncan was v helpful, welcoming of questions and quick to respond. The house itself was v comfortable and clean and it was lovely to walk the 10 minutes to the village to go to the bakery or eat in one of the local restaurants. Would definitely recommend staying here if you simply want time and space to relax and get away from it all.

Stunning property in beautiful surroundings

By Julia Bevan on 11-Jul-2016

We stayed for a month in this wonderful place - the description and photos are accurate and the owners answered our queries promptly and fully. The facilities were the best we've encountered in 30 years of holidaying in France. The local village has good bars, places to eat and shop and we found people very friendly. There is help on hand if required from the owners' manager, who is English and speaks French. There are beautiful walks all around, way-marked and of varying lengths and levels of difficulty - details and maps available from the tourist office in the village. The birdlife, flowers and other wildlife are superb. There is plenty to see and do, and bigger towns are within easy reach. The owners provided information about family activities as well as shopping, eating out, etc. The conservatory is one of the best things about this property, enabling you to be "outside but inside" if the weather turns on you! The kitchen is particularly well equipped. And the beds are comfortable! We would recommend this unreservedly and we hope to stay there again.

Lovely Stay

By Pam Goldthorpe on 20-Jun-2016

This property matched our expectations. It is set in lovely countryside with a massive garden area for exploring, fun and games. The surrounding area is beautiful. The house was clean and well maintained. We had lots of very useful contact from both the owner Duncan and the property manager Louise before and while we were staying. The kitchen was well equipped and the log fire was very useful on wintery nights. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives. We hope to return soon.

Relaxing, Comfortable Chalet in beautiful area

By June Stedman on 14-Jun-2016

Enjoyed our stay in the Chalet. We loved the conservatory with a view of the mountains while eating our meal. We found the Chalet well equipped, clean and comfortable with everything needed for a trouble free holiday. The owners very helpful and approachable and Louise who lives nearby available for any advice if needed. We would not hesitate to recommend the Chalet to friends or relatives and hope to return ourselves in the future.

Perfect Relaxation.

By Gary Jasper on 06-Apr-2016

After visiting various regions of France over the years, we decided it was time to visit the Alps. We were looking for a relaxing stress free holiday with plenty of walks to take our dog on. We couldn't of found a better place, the Chalet is situated close enough to a small village for those essential items but also far enough away to make you feel that you have it all to yourself. As for the Chalet, it was very well equipped, very comfortable & extremely clean. I would fully recommend it to anyone looking for a get away holiday. Thank you to Duncan & Sarah the Owners for being very easy to deal with, Mr G Jasper

Unknown, Unspoilt, Paradise

By Alan K on 30-Dec-2015

Fortunately this beautiful well appointed chalet is located in the mountain region of the Drome .I say 'fortunately' because if this chalet was located in Provence or in the isere it would be impossible to rent due to demand as this charming chalet is set in the most beautful mountain region of France & because it is in the Drome nobody knows about it !!!!! But now I I have let the cat out of the bag I imagine & hope more & more people will visit this undiscovered region & stay in this peaceful relaxing chalet ..open the windows & listen to the silence !! The chalet itself offers everything a couple a family or two families would need to enjoy the region at anytime of the year : there are sun loungers , a brand new table tennis for the large garden in summer & as the chalet is on different levels , everyone can find some private space. It is beautifully clean well appointed & even the most blasé visitor can chill out on the veranda looking out at the ever changing light on the mountains opposite & plan beautiful walks or cycle trips which can be tailored to suit all levels from kids to dri-fit- lycra-polar dressed pros !! What more can I add ? The owners could not be more helpful ..in fact I would just add this : take your slippers with you to wear indoors..in order to treat this holiday home the way you would treat your own home ..the owners deserve it !!

Mountain Chalet

By Simon H on 14-Oct-2015

A great house, with plenty of living space, log fires and great views of the mountains. For walkers there is a lot of stuff to do, either from the house or with short drives into the surrounding area. Getting into those high places was great for scenery and spotting eagles. The village is a short walk away with a boulangerie, a shop and a couple of bars. Nearby restaurant served great mountain food. We don't often go back to a place, but this will be an exception.
