The village of Najac is one of the’ plus beau villages de France'
The house stands on the south side of a fine medieval street (mostly pedestrian) that leads to the Chateau.
Owned and completely restored and furnished by a potter/furniture maker to the highest standards. Inspired by the traditional inns of Japan [ryokan). It offers a calm environment created with natural materials; local woods (wild cherry, elm, oak, ash), for the furniture, raw silk, hand made ceramics and celadon tableware, original paintings. We are proud of the result and much complimented by our guests. Please note, there are no ornaments or fragile furnishings to interfere with your relaxation!
Walking:: The area around Najac is one of the finest in France for walking. The landscape is deeply cut by the winding gorges of the two rivers Viaur and Aveyron. The valleys are forested & quite wild, but easily accessible by clearly marked walks. Fine and varied domestic architecture abounds; beautiful clusters of houses in hamlets & villages often perched, like the medieval château, on prominent strategic points above the rivers. Within a few kilometres of Najac, one finds great variety of interest, Roman bridges, abandoned copper mines, & bastide towns like Villefranche-de-Rouergue, & Cordes. After eighteen years here in the Najac area, we still have much to discover and will be pleased to help our guests see some of it. We recommend April, May, June, Sept and Oct for walking. Bird watching here is excellent. Canoeing, rock climbing, & other sports are available. River swimming is first-rate and safe for all ages.
Village: In the village there are café-bars, a baker, grocery shop, newsagent and a Doctor. Good restaurants of all price ranges and in the summer months, a Sunday market. The municipal swimming pool and tennis courts are open in the summer.
Najac is well served by rail. Daily services to and from Toulouse, Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Figeac, Rodez and Paris. Toulouse airport is 1 ½ hours from Najac and Rodez 1 hour.
Pottery: We are 10 minutes from the village and offer the chance to take pottery lessons. From beginner to more advanced level, all ages are welcome, please contact us for more details.

Well equipped ,furnished,clean

The property is very central, clean, well equipped and perfect for exploring Najac and the surrounding area. Lots of towels , bedlinen, a well equipped kitchen and good internet connection makes it a perfect base. Maureen's response time was fast as we were already in France. The terrace at the back gets the sun all day and has great views. Would definitely recommend it and stay again. Many thanks.

Thank you, Maureen, for your warm welcome and charming property in Najac, a magical town in France. Wonderful terrace overlooking gardens and expansive tree-covered hills, comfortable bed and two toilets. Strong, effective wi-fi and landline phone. Glad to have GPS to get around on country roads. Local grocer and baker very friendly and helpful too. So much character: we highly recommend.

By People Say That You Shouldn’t Go Back To A Place Y on 26-Sep-2015
People say that you shouldn’t go back to a place you really enjoyed. But there ARE exceptions! We revisited Maureen and Peter’s Najac townhouse in September, and were once again enthralled with the location and presentation of this atmospheric gite. Maureen was once again, very hospitable and accommodating. Everything we said in our posting of two ago, stands. The hosts have thought of everything, which is so rare when you rent as a stranger from overseas. Proper cooking facilities, comfortable furniture (including a lovely bed) and lots of information on the local area (and wifi to help you obtain more information or catch up on emails etc) Please visit the beautiful village, stay in this wonderful little townhouse with the BEST views from the rear deck, and understand why there are some places in France that are truly magical. Thanks once again, Maureen and Peter, for a wonderful stay.
Beautiful house in a beautiful village
By Carel Jan H. on 05-Sep-2015
We - a family with 2 growing up children- had a beautiful vacation in the gîte le Bourguet. The house is very comfortable, clean and well equipped with a very good kitchen and special furniture and beautiful art. Maureen and her husband Peter were very kind, gave a lot of information from the aria. A visit of their pottery is a must. Najac and his surrounding is beautiful and this is the perfect house to explore it.
