Spes Bona is a lovely 4 bedroom detached property located in the village of Noss Mayo in the beautiful South Hams in Devon.
Occupying an elevated position close to the Church, Spes Bona enjoys fabulous 180 degree views of the Yealm Estuary. It is a spacious and comfortable holiday retreat for large groups or extended families who are looking for something that is a little bit special. Spread over two floors, Spes Bona comprises 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 living areas, a spacious kitchen/dining space, a laundry/boot room and stunning decking area perfect for enjoying long summer days.
The first floor has a large welcoming entry hallway.The snug room has a Smart TV on which you can enjoy terrestrial TV as well as access your Netflix account and BBC iPlayer, and provides an intimate sanctuary to curl up on the L shape lounge sofa for a relaxing night in.Take the corridor down the hallway to the open plan living space complete with sofa, armchairs and gas fireplacekitchen and dining area which offers plenty of space to relax and enjoy the stunning views through the large picture windows.
The newly refurbished kitchen is complete with all the amenities you would expect for entertaining including a large fridge freezer; range cooker with 5 hobs and 3 ovens; wine fridge; Nespresso machine; integrated microwave and breakfast barStrategically placed in front of the picture window to absorb the fantastic views is a large wooden table that comfortably seats 10.
2 king-size bedrooms both with ensuite bathrooms are accessed on the top floor.
The ground floor comprises a utility room, complete with washing machine, that is accessed via a partly glazed back door. From here you can easily access the shower room which is great if you are just returning from the nearby beach covered in sand.
There is also a bunkroom with a double bed on the bottom with single bed on the top bunk. The fourth with inbuilt wardrobe. There is also a children’s library and a small play area with a select number of toys available for your child’s use. A travel cot and highchair is also available upon request.Step outside to the large decked area with a gas barbecue, with stunning views up and down the river. An ideal place for a spot of al fresco dining. Spes Bona has Wi-Fi and a telephone for incoming calls only.
Our stay at SPES BONA, has been really fantastic. The house is excellently decorated. It has everything you need. Upon arrival, the whole house was very clean. The views are fantastic and the peace and tranquility of the surroundings make it a fantastic experience. It is a pity that I haven’t been able to enjoy fully of it.
Noss Mayo is lovely and unspoilt with great pubs and friendly people. There are wonderful beaches to discover in the local area and great walks for dogs. We enjoyed day trips to Plymouth and Salcombe too. The house is very spacious and amazingly well equipped, the Aga is a great bonus. Our dog Ivy really enjoyed exploring the garden and river and was happy to sleep here. The upstairs feels almost like a separate apartment. We all loved it. Highly recommended.
We stayed here with our two toddlers and a set of grandparents and we all had a really lovely time. The toys and books for kids in this house surpasses anywhere else I've stayed, and the rest of our party was delighted with the gorgeous views, outdoor dining space, separate TV room and spacious open plan kitchen / indoor bench table that comfortably sat all 6 of us, and could easily accommodate 8. There are plenty of kids' dishes and cups, as well as cutlery, so you really can just move a young family straight in! There's also a good washing machine and a washing line which came in handy after our days at the pretty nearby beaches. And the village itself is great for a short stay - there are a few friendly pubs just a short stroll away, a wee shop and a post office. All in all this was a super place for our week in Devon. Highly recommended.
Absolutely lovely! Spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. Stunning views... probably the best you could get along that estuary. Noss Mayo and Newton Ferris is a must visit for a relaxing and peaceful break away. Within walking distance to the co-op, post office, butchers and chemist as well as three waterside pubs. Plenty of space, even for 8 guests. Fabulous master bedroom with view of the water. Will certainly be returning.
Had the perfect break at this wonderful house. The little ones enjoyed their first 'Swallows and Amazons' holiday and are now hooked. The house itself is ideal: well designed spaces and sublime views of the village, river and valley. Really cant wait to return. Great pubs, great food, and the perfect base for an awesome Devonshire holiday.
I have had two visits to this beautiful property. It really is a home from home. Nothing is spared. Every attention to detail was given to provide us with everything we needed. It is clean, bright, spacious and super comfortable. Fabulous views and a beautiful ambience. The ideal place to relax and recharge.
House has amazing outside space walks all around with children's playground and two great pubs in the village. At low tide it is possible to walk over the estuary to next village to shops etc Good sailing and rowing in estuary and wonderful beaches Close by. House is modern elegant,fantastic views with good sized bedrooms and lovely family area and outside area with barbecue. I hope to come again soon.
