A Little Bit About Oz, France Whilst Oz en Oisans is a purpose-built resort it still reflect a village feel with wood clad buildings. It is a pedestrianised ski resort, part of the Alpe d'Huez Grand Domain ski area. With most of the skiing above 2000m, Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine is one of the highest and most reliable snow-sure ski areas in France. Oz was built in the eighties and ski chalets and apartments have been added over the years. It is a family friendly resort with direct, fast lift access to all parts of Alpe d'Huez and the Oz-Vaujany ski areas. It is located south east of Grenoble with short airport transfers; about 75 minutes from Grenoble airport or 1 hour 45min from Chambery or Lyon. Oz en Oisans is the jewel in the crown of the villages in the area as it is quiet and safe but big enough for families, and those looking to get away from the party atmosphere of a larger resort. Visitors enjoy good food, relaxed après-ski style in a few bars and restaurants enjoy a superb ski area which offers 250 km of freshly groomed pistes. Oz offers something for everybody with the resort at a level of 1350m and skiing all the way from 1100m to 3330m. The Grand Domaine has slopes suitable for winter sports beginners through to the most demanding of enthusiasts. Oz has its own Ski schools and you can also choose to ski in just the Oz-Vaujany sector, about a third of the Grand Domaine of Alpe d'Huez, with a cheaper lift pass. In the summer Oz Village, which is lower down the mountain, attracts walkers, road cyclists, mountain bikers, hikers and is a great base for those looking to relax and enjoy the mountain scenery.
