Greenholme, CA10 3TA, England. Quiet, Rural.
Daw Bank Cottage is 16 miles south of Penrith, and 3 miles west of Orton and Tebay. Quiet Rural Location in the Westmorland Dales (the Lake District And Dales National Park) but easy to reach from the M6 via the northbound or southbound Westmorland Services.
This unspoilt area is part of the northern Lake District, with easy access to the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and the Eden Valley, and offers excellent touring, walking and cycling opportunities. A perfect holiday retreat. The house is of "upside down" design and the living room windows afford views of the Howgills, the Lune Valley and the famous Shap gradient of the West Coast railway line - close enough to be impressive, yet not so near as to be disruptive! Sleeps 5 in 2 bedrooms.
We are a working farm so we are happy to welcome well behaved pets as well as you and your family. Please keep your dog leashed when going for walks -- and if you haven't got a dog, Micky Wippitt will happily walk with you on his lead.
Non smoking policy. Good 4G mobile signal.
very satisfied
The photos show how lovely the building is, inside and out. But when you get there and look around you, smell the air, see the landscape and meet Graham and Sue that's when you realise the Hidden Gem you have booked.
Fantastic well-kept little rural house with plenty of space in the living room for the four of us and our three dogs and generously-sized bedrooms. The view is spectacular from every window and you can indeed barely hear the trains occasionally passing nearby(-ish).
I arrived very late and so didn't have a chance to meet the owners personally but the rest of the gang told me they were very pleasant. I did get a chance to meet their dog Sammy briefly on the final morning though, and he was extremely well-mannered and made my day :)
Its perfect place for families. Nice and quiet with lovely People around you. Very good conection to other routs so is very handy to travel around lake district. I would recomend the place to everyone
We have had a fab stay at Daw Bank cottage the house is so cozy and comfy with everything you need the owners were lovely and very helpful and it was nice to see the animals too x we would recommend this property as a base to tour the area especially if you like trains
Excellent stay here, had everything you needed and more, great location, amazing views, owner was very friendly and welcoming thank you for a great stay :-)
Had a lovely weekend at Dawbank cottage. Lovely hosts (especially mickey the dog). We had everything we needed and more and the weather was amazing! Thank you again Graham and Sue.
Perfect for oud needs
Stayed two nights as a base for a family event. Perfect for our time there. Loved staying in a less touristy area. Heard cuckoos and curlew on our morning dog walks. Thrown slightly getting there as the service station, on the route instructions, had changed it's name, so we missed the turning, but turned around at next junction and we found it fine.
Lovely quiet retreat in the heart of the countryside but only a mile off the M6. Ideal for ourselves and 3 grandchildren. Well equipped, everything clean and tidy. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
