Penlowen (run by myself, a marine biologist and my musician husband) provides affordable eco-friendly holiday accommodation for people who wish to enjoy Cornwall's coastline and gorgeous oldy-worldy village of Polperro. We value hospitality and personal touches are important to us.
The boutique style living accommodation is light airy with organic bed sheets, fresh flowers and a locally sourced cream tea on arrival. As we are at the top of the hill, we have wonderful views of the coastline. The accommodation is upside down with the kitchen diner, living room, master bedroom with king sized bed, twin bedroom and upstairs loo on the first floor. Through the large patio door in the upstairs living room you can enjoy watching the changes and moods of the water all day long. Downstairs is the shower room. Penlowen is easily accessible by car with space in our gated courtyard a car. This is a rarity in Polperro as many holiday cottages in the village can only offer parking in the car park and not immediately outside the property. The lounge has a wall hanging wood burner for that extra cosy feel. The TV has SKY and connects to a DVD. WiFi is also available. The accommodation has the advantage of an upstairs loo as well as a downstairs shower room. There is access to a large garden with a dining area and firepit. If you wish, it is just 5 mins walk to the cliff path where you can sit on the bench to enjoy the view before walking another 10 minutes down into Polperro or Talland.
Why not indulge in the culinary treats of coastal restaurants such as The View at Whitsand Bay, Fifteen at Watergate Bay or Rick Stein's seafood restaurant in Padstow? or order a selection of local organic produce to be delivered before you arrive? If you fancy indulging yourself, why not book an aromatherapy massage or a facial in advance? We can also offer guided rocky shore activities as well as access to the music room. If you fancy getting out on the water then there are boat trips from Polperro and watersports in Talland and Looe.

Please deduct 10% if you wish to stay for a week.

We loved staying at Penlowen. Great view in a peaceful setting. Marvelous hosts made us feel at home. The nearby coastal walks had jaw dropping views and Polperro is fabulous.

fabulous few days

By on 04-Nov-2016

Wish we could have stayed longer. Location was fantastic, with easy reach of lots of pretty fishing towns. A few minutes walk to the coastal path which was stunning. We were very lucky with the weather. The House is beautifully clean and extremely well appointed, with a beautiful log burner for chilly evenings. A very comfy bed in the double room, but the icing on the cake was the fabulous view. Sue and Colin were extremely accommodating and all in all we had a lovely family break.

Would I recommend this holiday rental to my best friend? Yes.

Lovely warm welcome

By on 10-Aug-2016

Had a lovely stay at Penlowen. Sue and Colin were very welcoming and friendly. Sue gave us loads of info and help, very generously lending my children wet suits and boogy boards for the beach! House was great, just what we needed. Kids were happy with the wifi and we were very comfortable. Although the house is right next to the owners house, we were left to enjoy our stay, they were not at all intrusive. Will definitely be back!

Relaxing break

By on 13-May-2016

Visited for a short break and re charge of batteries. The accommodation well exceeded what we had expected, and had all the facilities we needed and more. The owners Sue and Colin were very helpful and friendly and gave us plenty of advice of the best places to visit and to eat around the local area.
it is a lovely walk down into Polperro and if you fancy a longer walk try the coastal path into Looe where you can find a variety of bars, cafes and restaurants.
We will certainly be returning again

Comfortable relaxing setting, perfect

By on 10-May-2016

Had to find accommodation last minute and the owner couldn't have been more helpful. Organised in less than 24 hours but looked as if there had been days of preparation. Lovely, short coastal walks to both Looe and Polperro but far enough from the midst of the towns to feel tranquil. Great stay- thanks!

perfect getaway

By on 06-May-2016

I recently stayed in Penlowen to celebrate my friend’s birthday and was utterly shocked that anywhere could be so blooming beautiful!! It was the perfect location for all of us! Not only are the views amazing from the house but they get even better when walking along the coastal path to the village or the beach. The walk is really short (we were a bit worried from other reviews on here saying that it is steep and long) it only took us about 10 minutes! The village is super cute too; it has lovely little individual shops, restaurants and pubs. We even found a harbour cafe that sells gluten free sandwiches and cakes which was perfect for my friend who is intolerant! We especially enjoyed having a spa and pool only 5 minutes drive away. Penlowen is very clean, well equipped and has lovely quality bed linen. We very much loved being able to tuck up in front of the wood burner in the evening. Would recommend to anyone!

Had a wonderful weekend at Penlowen. Sue and Colin are exceptional hosts, very welcoming and friendly and provided us with lots of information about the area. Penlowen is a beautiful , modern, characterful holiday home. The furniture and decor is very tastefully done and the place was immaculately clean. The wall mounted log burner creates a warm cosy ambience and the sea views are a delight. Highly recommended

Absolutely fabulous

By on 25-Nov-2015

Visited Penlowen with a friend for a nice restful late Autumn break, and it certainly did not disappoint. We were met on arrival by the owners Sue and Colin, and shown where everything was and how everything worked, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything we could possibly need.

The Lounge has a beautiful sea view and a fabulous log burner. It was very cosy in the evenings and most relaxing. Highly recommended for a winter break. It is a short drive into Looe which has lovely little shops, restaurants and quaint tea rooms, and a short walk into Polperro Harbour (quite a steep hill to climb on the way back).

I will definitely be returning to this fabulous place, fully rejuvenated once we had left.

Great base for coastal walks

By on 09-Oct-2015

This apartment is located near the coastal path above Polperro. It is easy to find and has parking. It is well appointed and is clean and tidy. There are lovely views from the living room which is on the first floor. There is a bus stop very close - handy for starting or ending walks by bus. It is a steep walk down and uphill to Polperro but well worth the effort. Although it would be easy to drive to other places of interest this apartment is best suited to active people. The coastal walks from here are magnificent. Having wifi was a bonus.

We had a lovely stay at Penlowen. The owners were very helpful and the welcoming cream tea was yum! The accommodation was perfect for 4 of us and the use of the garden was a bonus for my daughter. The master bed was so comfy it was hard to get up! The views were beautiful as was the weather. Would definitely return

delightful views and lots of fun for little ones

By on 22-Aug-2013

We had the most brilliant stay here. Scones on arrival and a sea view to drink in with a cold glass of wine.

It was wonderfully quiet, this was peak summer holiday time and the accessibility to beaches and Polperro were great if not a little steep!

We would stay here again for sure.

Quality accommodation at a great price

By on 10-Jan-2013

Returned from Penlowen house after a fantastic Christmas break in the charming area of Polperro in Cornwall.
The accommodation lived up to everything we read on there website and more. The property is situated on the hill top above the coastal path to Polperro so the sea views we had from our top floor living room was magical. The house is well placed for walking and the walk to Talland bay is breath taking. The pretty town of looe is just 4 miles away and has everything you need for your stay. Eden project is only about a 30 minute drive so there is plenty to do even in winter.
The owners are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble they had decorated the house and put up a tree before our arrival and left a complimentary cream tea for us to enjoy. Yum! I have a young daughter and they offered a baby sitting service on Christmas eve so me and my husband could celebrate a little in one of the charming fishing pubs in the village, The house is very clean and has everything you need for a short or long stay.
All in all I would whole heartedly recommend Penlowen house as a place to stay for your summer or winter holidays. Thanks Sue and Colin for a making our Christmas so special.
