Serenity - a beautiful apartment with stunning views

By Maria on 21-Oct-2017

My spouse, son and I spent a week in Serenity in Oct 2017. The apartment is spotless and the views over Poole harbour are outstanding. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. This is now one of my favourite places and we have booked another week for July 2018.

Lovely flat with wonderful views across the harbour
Peaceful & quiet location with stunning views looking across Poole Harbour to Brownsea Island. The beds were very comfortable. It was a very relaxing holiday. There was safe and secure parking behind electric gates. Close by there was Hamworthy Park which offered a great walking location.
There was a great selection of bars and restaurants in close vicinity. We would very much recommend this property!!!

Management Response:
We are pleased you found our nice little local beach that you can see just below and to the right. Our guests find it's good to be so near the water's edge. It's great to have Hamworthy Park next to the beach. Thank you for pointing out the lovely cafe in the park. We have been told about their good coffee and food. We must try it ourselves!

Perfect stay.
We were in Poole on business (and as much leisure time as we could fit in!) and Serenity was the absolute perfect luxe place to stay. We initially were booked for 2 weeks, but extended a third as it was just ideal. The apartment itself is absolutely immaculate and well maintained...perfectly outfitted and has all the amenities one could possibly require. And the view (so lovely!) and layout and location made it even more superb. Our hosts, Ruth & John were incredibly accommodating and helpful, and went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect. The building is very secure and is in a great location to wander into Poole and enjoy the restaurants and shops without having to drive, but there is parking onsite and the apartment is in a central location to take all sorts of side trips to surrounding areas. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Serenity to others and would love to stay there again!! Thank you so very much for a wonderful stay at your gorgeous penthouse!!

We loved the apartment.
This is a modern apartment - equipped and furnished to a very high standard - and having convenient parking for 2 cars. Serenity is light and airy with good views over a yachting marina and towards Brownsea Island. Poole harbour is a short walk away and offers a lively atmosphere in the summer with organised events and numerous restaurants. A short walk in the opposite direction is a park with a paddling pool and play equipment, as well as a small beach with beach huts and water sports facilities. A drive away are the beautiful beaches of Sandbanks, and Alum / Branksome Chines. Other nearby outings are Poole Park, Brownsea Island, Compton Acres Garden and Upton Country Park. We had a great family holiday here and would like to return. Hosts, Ruth and John, are eager to make Serenity a wonderful holiday apartment, and attention to detail cannot be faulted.

Serenity is the perfect name for this gem!
Ruth was so helpful with all the detailed information she provided for us before and during our stay, including a comprehensive handover process. The apartment enjoys the most fabulous views all around the bay and it was delightful at early evening time to watch from the large balcony the activities of the sailing club nearby. The interior is modern and beautifully co ordinated and its very well equipped to a very high standard. There were plenty of towels, including beach/patio ones, and extra blankets and bed linen too. We arrived from Singapore with our 2 young children, ages 3 yrs and 4 yrs and we immediately felt the calm and the tranquility of Serenity. A perfect little playground for young children are within10 minutes walking distance and its about the same distance to Poole Quay. (The ad says it takes me 5 mins to the start of Poole Quay, which it does - I suppose it's slower with toddlers).Thank you for allowing us to rent your apartment, it truly was a fabulous experience, an immensely peaceful and relaxing place to stay.

A superb location that makes you feel as good as it looks
If you want luxury accommodation in an excellent location, then the Serenity Penthouse in Poole is the place to be. The owner (Ruth) could not have been more friendly and offered loads of advice via e-mail, phone and text before we arrived in Poole, where she personally greeted us.

The Penthouse is immaculate and the views from the living room (and extensive balcony) of the yacht club, bay and surrounding countryside is breath taking. You are even within walking distance of the ferries to France and the Channel Islands if you want to extend your adventure beyond Dorset. However, Poole provides an excellent coastal base to explore Dorset and would strongly recommend that you visit Sandbanks just a few miles up the coast for its wonderful beaches and to ogle the multi-million pound properties.

The accommodation is equipped to the highest standard and is very quiet, despite being less than 10 minutes walk from Poole town centre, which is well served with a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. You also have access to secure covered car parking and it is worth noting that our £150 deposit was returned upon our day of departure.

You are encouraged to remove your shoes to protect the cream carpets, so if you have children this may worry you. However, its a routine that you soon get into and its worth it given the standard of the property and what if offers.

All in all it was a 5 star experience and I doubt that you will find anything that beats it.

We were lucky with the weather so topped up our tans on the sun terrace. Fantastic views of the harbour, boat yards and park. Always something to see. Serene indeed !

"Serenity" certainly lives up to it's name - totally serene while we were there for a one week stay in May this year. Totally quiet and peaceful with a breathtaking outlook over the waters of Poole Harbour from sunrise to sunset. If the weather is kind there is a lovely sun-deck to enjoy, or a romantic balcony on which to enjoy an evening glass of wine (as we did).

When we first booked this apartment I had it in my mind that it was actually in a modern block on Poole Quay, where all the restaurants, bars and entertainments are. So, when I found out nearer the date that it wasn't just there, but in fact over the lift bridge and on the other side of the waters in Hamworthy, I was rather concerned as to what and where it would be.

In fact it all worked out perfectly because we came to realise that the apartment block I had thought it was in (Dolphin Quay) was really too close to all the night time and weekend noise for our tastes and we really would not have liked it there ! As it was, we could walk or drive from the apartment down to the Quayside any night we wanted to eat there - and then come back to our own piece of paradise at Serenity !

The only worrying factor right from the start was Ruth's 'invitation' to remove our shoes BEFORE entering the apartment on account of her scarily white carpets throughout. Having expressed this wish we felt honour bound to abide by it - but there is no provision for persons who are less agile to actually remove their shoes (especially if lace-ups) in the entrance to the apartment. There is no chair there to sit on - though there is a heavy duty door-mat which seems to be totally pointless in the circumstance.

So we were often to be seen imitating a flamingo, balancing on one leg whilst trying to remove our shoes. By the end of the week, however, I had devised a cunning plan. Have two supermarket bags ready in the bedroom or hallway for when you put your street shoes on. Slip them over your shoes before you stand up and then shuffle out of the apartment, shedding the bags outside the door until you return and reverse the process !

The white leather sofas are also scary - white leather is NOT a good idea if you are wearing denims which will shed their dye into the leather and it cannot be removed (as one person has already shown). Fortunately, we don't wear jeans. But the sofas are NOT great for sitting on - just lounging on. Every attempt to sit led to a quick slide down to a recumbent position - so it was impossible to sit - just lay - on the sofas. Anyone with knee or back problems may have difficulty in getting down to them and even more getting up again !

But we had a good week of variable but mainly pleasant weather and used this location to tour around the area seeing Sandbanks, Corfe Castle, Wareham, Wimborne Minster, Abbotsbury, Kings Lacey and Poole Town itself. The traffic system in Poole is crazy - meaning that you have to go around the town twice on gyratory systems to get anywhere, and their parking does not appear to have special evening rates to encourage the night time economy.

At the end of each day (or afternoon) of touring it was great to get back to the serenity of Serenity and just put our feet up !

Someone earlier mentioned the 'industrial outlook' of this location. Well, Poole is a working port ! But this apartment only sees that if you are looking hard to your left. Directly in front is all the hustle and bustle (but quietly) of the Poole Yacht Club and to the right as you look out is a small quiet beach and the distant views across the waters to the Dorset downs. In fact we quite enjoyed watching the 'boaty people' doing what 'boaties' do and their yachts on the water made for some attractive pictures. It was also interesting to see the Brittany Ferry to Cherbourg leave every morning at 8.30am and arrive back every evening at about 10.30pm. Again, all very quietly at the distance we were from it !

Ruth gave us a very comprehensive 'induction course' on our arrival so we were fully au fait with all the appliances in the apartment even though we had no intention of using the cooker, the dish-washer or the micro-wave. But they were there if we wanted to !

Even the week stay didn't give us the chance to explore all of beautiful Dorset that we wanted to - so we may return again to catch up with the rest of the very attractive county on some other occasion.

And we may even stay at Serenity again !

Loved the apartment, wish I lived there...
I stayed there with my husband and eight your old son. I've never stayed in a better contained place, you had everything needed in the cupboards etc. Home from home. We loved the view, the decor, and everything about the place. Owners were brilliant to deal with and made us very welcome. The only downside was that we didn't get enough time in the apartment due to commitments we had there. Highly recommend this place and would definitely book it again.

Luxuriously appointed with a great view
There is a huge choice of apartments in Poole , and many are cheaper but if you are looking for something a little special then the extra is well worth paying! The apartment is very well appointed and the owners have put in Quality items throughout from the furniture to the soft furnishings to the TV and appliances. It is a real pleasure to come home too after a day out sightseeing. But you must remember to take off your shoes ! The white carpets are nice but a brave move! There is secure parking with access to the lift and flat. The internet work well with WiFi and free landline calls to the UK in a nice touch. It is less than minutes walk into Poole Harbour where there are plenty of shops and restaurants.

What an apartment! what a view! What a location!

The whole experience was excellent. Having been to Poole previously we knew what to expect of the area, and although we had seen pictures of the apartment on the web and thought we knew what to expect we were still wowed by it when we walked through the door. The standard within was excellent and the views were magnificent.
The owner (Ruth) was great throughout as was her partner who met us there to let us in. This was our first holiday with our 10 month old daughter and I must say that it really wasn’t an issue as long as you treat the apartment as you would your own property.
We had already recommended this apartment to family prior to our arrival (they’re booked to go in September), we won’t and haven’t hesitated to recommend Serenity to other family and friends since returning.
Without a shadow of a doubt we will return to Serenity again!

When you first arrive at the property the thing that really hits you is the amazing views from the stunning picture windows on all sides. The property itself is true luxury and really well equipped. Location is great with easy access and great parking. This really is a stunning property and comes highly recommended. Ruth provides a great welcome and also a welcoming and easy booking process.
