Long Cove is a lovely detached family house with wonderful sea views over Porthcothan Bay. There is direct access to the beach from the spacious rear garden via the coastal footpath (not suited to guests with limited mobility). The beach can also be accessed from the road.

The house was built in the late 1930's and has been in the ownership of the current owners' family since 1953. It is comfortably and traditionally furnished and still has the feeling of a happy family home. The views from the house are glorious, whatever the weather. Stunning sunsets in June, waves crashing over the cliffs in winter storms, turquoise seas and wonderful surfing in the summer.

During the season, Porthcothan Bay Stores at the top of the beach stock all basic requirements as well as local bread and pasties, ice cream, newspapers, cakes, takeaway coffee and weekly themed takeaway meals. They also hire out surfboards and wetsuits.

The closest village of St Merryn, approximately 3 miles away, has a grocery shop, bakery, newsagent, pubs, restaurants and a post office. The fishing village of Padstow is within a 15 minute drive and offers lots of interesting shops and a wide selection of places to eat including Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant . Bicycles can be hired to explore The Camel Trail which runs from Padstow to Wadebridge, and there are boat trips running from the harbour as well as a ferry across to Rock.
