Scenic and peaceful, the tiny village of Rockcliffe has a tranquility that visitors remember long after they leave.

If you want to centre your holiday in this beautiful seaside location in a quiet and comfortable home from home, then we believe that Drumbeg holiday cottage has much to offer you.

We think you’ll be impressed by the attractively appointed and well equipped cottage which is only a short walk from Rockcliffe’s sandy beach.

Delightfully decorated and furnished, Drumbeg can sleep six guests in two double rooms, and one twin.

The compact kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, microwave and dishwasher. A washing machine and fridge/freezer are also on site.

In the lounge is a woodburning stove making it a cosy place to relax at the end of your busy day.
Play games, read a book, watch Sky television or unwind with your favourite DVD.

The bright dining room has patio doors to a paved area with garden furniture and a large enclosed garden where children and pets can play safely. Take advantage of the disposable BBQs which are supplied, to dine al fresco.

Additionally, on the ground floor, there are a utility porch, bathroom with an overhead shower and separate WC.

A maximum of 2 well behaved and house trained pets can be accommodated for an additional fee per animal.

Coal and logs for the solid fuel stove are included as are disposable BBQ’s for outdoor cooking.

There is a garage for storing bikes etc. and off street parking for up to 3 cars.

Young children are welcome and available on site are a travel cot, highchair and safety gate. It should be noted, however, that due to the open plan staircase toddlers should be constantly supervised.

Drumbeg has a no smoking policy.

Blankets and quilts are provided and bed linen can be supplied for a supplement per bed. Please note that towels are not supplied.

Electricity and heating are by a meter which accepts £1 coins.

The area is known as the Scottish Riviera due to its kindly climate, influenced as it is by the Gulf Stream.

The Jubilee Path, a one mile walk from Rockcliffe takes you to the sailing centre of Kippford passing the Mote of Mark, an important Celtic settlement with panoramic views of the estuary. The area is one of the few red squirrel habitats remaining in Britain.

The local hotel, The Barons Craig is only a short walk from the cottage and has a good restaurant with an excellent wine list as well as an art gallery.

There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the surrounding area and there is so much to do and see on the beautiful Solway Coast. For example Mountain biking at the well known 7 Stanes; pony trekking; golfing on a championship course at nearby Southerness; bird and wildlife watching at Mersehead RSPB nature reserve or simply relaxing and enjoying the stunning beauty of the surroundings.

The area is one of the most picturesque in Scotland and enjoys protection from the National Trust.

DIRECTIONS:

Directions from the M6 and A74. Follow signs to Dumfries. Head for Dalbeattie and from there take the A710 to Colvend. Look out for a right turn which will take you to Rockcliffe.

Beautiful but cold

It's a beautiful place and in the summer it will be amazing. However, during the winter it really does need central heating and may be a bigger water tank. I would rather pay more for it with central heating. Kitchen well supplied and everything needed. Sky was a pleasant surprise. Electric heaters are costly but needed without CH. However, the house is perfect in every other way.

Had such a lovely week at Rockcliffe, the was cosy and comfy. The views from the upstairs bedroom was amazing, it made getting up in the morning rather difficult. The living room sofas were comfy and the wood burner made it a cosy place to spend time in the evening and when it was raining.

Enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing week in this lovely property. Facilities are good, the cottage is clean and comfortable and the views, particularly from the main bedroom, are superb. Wonderful coastal walks at hand on well managed Scottish National Trust land.
