Once we got used to having no WiFi or even phone signal we managed to relax and enjoy the house and the location. The house is well equipped, great for large groups (with dogs) and well located. Some aspects are a little dated but that does not detract from the overall comfort and convenience. The location is great for exploring Cornwall. The dogs and kids loved the local bays. It is also handy for going further afield (Newquay, St Ives, St Austell etc).

We had a wonderful time at Penwhine. This being our first trip to the area we didn't know what to expect but we found the village great, beach outstanding and the property perfect for our needs. There were 2 families of 4, 4 adults and 4 children and we had the perfect amount of room. Spacious bedrooms, a lovely big kitchen and even a wishing well to keep the children enthralled. An extra special touch was a bottle of champagne and card from the owners wishing us a Happy New Year. I would recommend this property to families looking to escape to the coast and would love to return in the Summer.

We stayed at Penwhine for Christmas week and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The property is very well equipped with everything you might possibly need, and is spacious and clean. The biggest plus with this house is the location. We'd never really explored this part of the coast and was amazed at the huge number of beautiful beaches and coves just a stones throw away. There are two nice pubs within walking distance and good amenities in the village. I'd definitely recommend this holiday home for a relaxing Cornish get away.

We have stayed at penwhine on two occasions and currently planning our third visit later in the year. Fantastic location and property, very relaxed which makes it feel like home from home, dogs are very welcome which makes it particularly attractive as most properties restrict you to one or two at the most, I highly recommend the property to anyone looking for a totally chilled and relaxing break,Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Pet-friendly, Families with Teenagers.

We have stayed in this property for 6 consecutive summers because we love the area and the house suits us brilliantly. It is comfortable but we have been able to relax completely as it is also a family holiday home and not so smart that we were worried about coming in with sandy feet! It has a small enclosed garden that is completely secure so great for dogs or young children. The bedrooms are all comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped. There are lots of toys and games if the weather is wet. St Merryn is perfectly located for visiting lots of different beaches (within walking distance, but not if you have lots of gear to carry) and the village has some well equipped shops, a couple of pubs and some good restaurants. The property is also within easy reach of places like the Eden Project, Llanhydrock House and Padstow. I have given this property 5 stars because it is very good value and if you are looking for a fun family holiday, it is perfect. If you want wifi, electronic games, satellite tv or designer décor, it is probably not for you. We will be back!
