Le Cafe Ancien , Collonge, commune of La CHAPELLE sous Brancion.
Southern Burgundy.

The old Cafe, dating back to 1783, is an historic former 'Resistance cafe', used during the second WW, as a centre for many a meeting of the local 'Marquis' who were very active in the region, and many lost their lives in doing so defending their counry as best that they could.
Le café is set at the base of a high local beauty spot, called the Col de Chevre. At the summit of the Col, there is a pathway, Chemin des Moines which leads into the forest where a memorial is situated to commemorate these fallen heroes.
The area surrounding is one of oustanding natural beauty.
The village of Collonge is set with in the 'Golden triangle', with its rolling hills, panoramic views, and abundant vineyards. Chateaux abound, in the romantic surrounding villages, with ancient stone buildings, untouched by the modern age, full of charm.
The property has been adapted to offer holiday accommodation, in Southern Burgundy. This area of Burgundy is famous for its unique gastronomy, and first class wines, and romanesque architecture, plenty to see and places to visit.
The property itself is steeped in atmosphere, and the surrounding land, offers panoramic and sunset views. On the edge of a pretty village, complete with bar, Collonge is a tranquil place to stay.
Situated just ten minutes from the autoroute at Tournus, where there are many great shops, restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets.

The river Saone flows through the town, where there are many other historic attractions, and pretty picnic spots as well as cafes and restaurants along the treelined riverside.
Cluny, Tiaze, Cormatin, St Gengoux Le national , Chalon sur Saone and Macon are all close by.
Position
Situated mid way between Dijon to the North, and Lyon to the South , both one hours drive away. Geneva and Annecy are one and a half hours drive due East.

The units are all self contained, with own shower room , kitchen, and lounge areas in addition to bedrooms.

Lavender Cottage is currently being advertised.

There are outside BBQ facilities near the pool area. Sun loungers are situated around the pool, as are outside tables and chairs to eat outside in the evenings.
Children are welcome, as is everybody else!

Ten summers.

We've stayed with Lesley at Le Cafe almost every summer for the past ten years, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for somewhere to relax surrounded by the beautiful countryside, - and vineyards- of Southern Burgundy. The accommodation is comfortable and quirky( think furnitue that ranges from a traditional French Farmhouse through to confession box and glitterball!) and there's plenty of outdoor space, with sunloungers etc, around a lovely swiming pool- all surrounded by peaceful open countryside and the most beautiful sunsets.
Lesley is a wonderfully sociable host, and theres always an opportunity to meet other guests over a glass of the local cremant or around the BBQ.
The cafe is located in a very sleepy hamlet; there is a good bakery a short drive away in the next village, and Tournus and St Gngouux are about ten minutesc away for supermarkets , cafes, and resaurants. Wine lovers will be in their element, with innumerable caves and degustations in the local area. If you want to unwind in a beautiful tranquil location, and a friendly welcoming atmoshere, then Lesley has exactly what you are loking for at 'Le Cafe Ancien'.

A quaint and typically French property comprising of several lovely holiday residences, centred on a well kept swimming pool with charming terrace. The gites are well equipped and family friendly.
The property is situated in a beautiful region of Burgundy, surrounded b charming villages with lots of places to visit; chateaux, museums and opportunities for outdoor pursuits.
Lesley is a perfect host, and makes her guests feel very welcome. Our family have enjoyed many wonderful holidays here and love the interaction with the other guests at the friendly barbecues and suppers on the terrace.
