Seb's Sea House is a lovely old cottage which retains many of its original features such as stone fireplaces downstairs and beautifully decorated fireplaces upstairs. However, it has been refurbished to a high standard with new kitchen, bathroom and utility room. The quiet garden is full of birdlife, including ducks who waddle by. The cottage is ideal for use in the Summer months with facilities for alfresco dining, buckets and spades and an outdoor hose to wash down wet suits and dogs.
In the colder months you can enjoy cosy wood burning fires (wood provided), reading by the fire, use of our board games, well stocked library and DVD collection. Out of season the beaches are spectacular, wading birds, miles of empty beaches, St Cuthbert’s Way and an opportunity to see The Northern Lights.
Outdoors there is seating which has been placed to view the magnificent sunsets as well as an outdoor table and chairs for alfesco dining. The nigh skies are probably some of the darkest and clearest in the UK.
Why not make use of our membership at the Ocean Club? This is a privately run Spa, Swimming pool and Gym and available for use by our guests.
You can store bikes or diving equipment in our garage.
We chose this property because it is away from the hustle and bustle of Seahouses and has a good sized enclosed garden with private parking. However, a ten minute walk down a tree-lined path and you will be at the most magnificent beach which leads to Bamburgh Castle and Bamburgh Village.
Bamburgh Village has some excellent pubs and restaurants,a deli, award-winning butchers, the ancient church of St Aidan's and the Grace Darling Museum. A ten minute walk in the opposite direction takes you to Seahouses Village and Harbour from where you can take a boat out to The Farne Islands. Seahouses has more shops than the other villages in the area including a Co-op, bakers, fruit and veg shop, gift shops, a deli and numerous restaurants, pubs and cafes. Here you will also find the Ocean Club Spa, gym, swimming pool and restaurant. Pamper days, massages and a beautician are available.
You are within driving distance of Alnwick Gardens and Castle (where Harry Potter and Downton Abbey were filmed), Holy Island, Berwick, Dunstanburgh Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Warkworth Castle, Low Newton National Trust Village and Edinburgh. For fans of Vera you are within easy driving distance of many scenes. For fans of Transformers, much of this was recently filmed in the area.
There are numerous golf courses in the area, diving off The Farne Islands, bird watching, hiking, cycling routes straight from the house and horse riding, which is is a two minute walk away. Boat trips in the winter months will allow you to see seal pups on the nearby islands.
This house is suitable for couples and families. It can also be used for off peak weekends by groups of golfers. The local courses have weekend special packages available. There are links courses at Seahouses, Alnmouth and Newton.
The house is also available for acting and film crew. We are flexible as to dates taken out of the main Summer season.
We are a 7 minute drive from Newton Hall Wedding Venue and 15 minutes away from Doxford Hall Wedding Venue. Many of our guests stay with us when attending local weddings.
The area is a bird watchers paradise. There are puffins in Summer on the Farne Islands which are owned by The National Trust. In Winter you can take a boat out to tour the Islands where you can see large colonies of seals. We have negotiated a 10% discount for all of our guests on Billy Shields Farne Islands boats.
Holy Island, reached across a tidal road, is the seat of early Christianity in England. St Cuthbert was buried there until his remains had to be rescued from the Vikings. The Island also has huge expanses of beautiful, clean, empty beaches.
Should you require outside catering then please let us know in advance so that we can contact our caterers. They can provide dinners for two up to special anniversary celebration dinners for all guests. In further good news we understand that the local fish and chip shop has just won the best chippy award.
Lovely Cottage perfect location

The cottage was perfect for our needs. It was spacious and well-equipped, and was situated in an ideal spot to explore the beaches and castles
A well proportioned family holiday home
By Jennifer on 15-Jul-2016
The property is about a 10 minute brisk walk from the Seahouses port and shops and about the same to the beach. Most of the route to the beach was on footpaths no where near the roads, which was great with our three year old and his new bike. I am not sure if we were allowed to use it, but there was also a great playground in the campsite a short diversion from the beach footpath.
The house itself was clean, spacious and the large rooms made for a very comfortable stay. Next time, we would stay longer and make more use of the house and all it had to offer. We felt like we were still discovering things to do even when we were packing to leave.
We had a great trip to the Farne Islands, a 2.5 hour trip was perfect for us and our three year old, which even included a walk around Staple Island. Lots of puffins to see!
I would recommend Seahouses and this property is a good option as a holiday home. Thank you to Jacqueline for her honesty and helpfulness.
A perfect mini holiday
By Pierre And Claude on 07-Jul-2016
We just wanted to say thankyou for letting us stay at Sebs Beach House, it was a welcome relief to get away from it all, so quiet and peaceful. You had thought of everything right down to games for the kids and the welcome pack.
The short walk to the beach was great, even in February. We cant wait to come back in the summer,
thanks again David, Sarah, Ruby and Fred

Seb's Sea House is a lovely spacious cottage with everything you need to have a fabulous stay. We loved the little fenced garden for a chilled time either sunbathing or relaxing with a drink. The cottage is about half a mile to the beach if you turn left out of the drive and about 15 minutes walk or 2 minutes drive to the town of Seahouses. I spent a lot of time just walking down the beach with my dogs. Our stay was much too short so I will be back again.
We dined at the Old Ship one night but I would recommend booking anywhere in advance if you want to dine out as spaces are limited otherwise you will be on fish and chips.
Seb's Sea house was spotlessly clean . There is plenty of space for 6, the 2 double bedrooms are huge. My wife said she would live there in an instant.
Sally C. Spacious well appointed cottage
By Sally C on 30-Apr-2016
We enjoyed a wonderful short break in this spacious warm and well appointed cottage. Our first visit to this area and we were blessed with sunshine every day. When the sun shines here it's a little slice of heaven! Thank you for accepting our dogs, they enjoyed running on the miles of sandy beaches and many Pubs are dog friendly. Being a garden lover visits to Alnwick and Cragside were the icing on the cake of a wonderful trip!
Denise H. Seb's Seahouse Review April 2016
By Denise H on 08-Apr-2016
Owner was very helpful and friendly. Perfect to be able to park right at the back door because one of our party had restricted mobility. The cottage was cosy yet spacious. Beds extremely comfortable. High standard of cleanliness on our arrival. Bathroom facilities more than adequate. What was really nice was not being greeted with terrifyingly long list of do's and dont's which we have experienced on other holiday lets. Would definitely recommend this property and the owner.

Loved the cottage, spacious, and well equipped, Perfect place to unwind and relax after a long journey. The area is beautiful . It was amazing to see about 400 seals on the beach just off Lindisfarne. We hope to return to Seb's cottage in the near future.Every thing was perfect.

We really enjoyed our stay in Seb's Cottage. It was clean and comfortable with all the facilities we required including dishwasher, modern shower room (plus en-suite bathroom). The cottage was very warm with easy to use central heating as well as two log burners.
We used Seb's cottage to stay in whilst attending a local wedding but we definitely want to come back so we can explore more of Northumbria. I would highly recommend a stay at Seb's Cottage.
Cottage of distinction
By Alison M on 11-Mar-2016
The house is beautiful and very well equiped. A proper home from home. A short walk in either direction leads you to the beach which is magnificent. The town is about a mile away, quite easy to commute. Lovely place to stay. Thoroughly recommened. Alison, John and Flynn the dog.
