Description

Cherry Tree Cottage is a charming cobb cottage in a village setting, in the heart of the Kenn Valley, and only 5 miles from the city of Exeter. The convenient location, just off the A38/A380 "Crossroads to Devon", gives easy access in any direction - the coast within (15 minutes) inc Torquay, the Exe Estuary Cycling and Walking trails (which runs from Dawlish up to Exeter and Topsham and onto Exmouth), the East for the Jurassic Coast (15 minutes), the stunning Dartmoor National Park (20 minutes), the stunning Teign Valley (15 minutes), The English Riviera, Torquay and Paignton (25 minutes), Plymouth (25 Minutes) and North Devon (1 hour), etc.

The property has 2 bedrooms - 1 double and 1 single (sleeps 3). It has an Inglenook fireplace and Woodburning stove , a Rangemaster cooker to complete the beautiful homely country kitchen/diner, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is underfloor heating in the stylish travertine wet room. The hand-made oak staircase is a particular feature of the property. There is a peaceful and pretty cottage garden where you can sit out and enjoy a glass of wine!

The village boasts a friendly and well stocked shop and a village bar and cafe (both 100 metres from the door), and just a mile away is the Ley Arms, a 12th Century thatched pub. Kennford is a friendly rural village, with a shop and a couple of cracking pubs within walking distance. There are plenty of walks from the doorstep if you want to give your car a rest too!

Paul and I live just 10 doors up so are always on hand if you need anything. You’ll see from the sample reviews that feedback from our guests has been fabulous. It has been so rewarding to see that all the personal touches and homemade cakes and scones go down well.

We love the area and have so many recommendations for your stay: walks, cycle rides, beaches, cafes, National Trust properties. The challenge is always fitting everything in!

We look forward to welcoming you.

By Anna on 13-Aug-2022

We were on our way to Cornwall and stopped over in this cosy cottage for one night! It exceeded our expectations. The cottage was very well equipped. A lovely touch of milk in the fridge - thank you! The beds were so comfy and smelt beautiful! I must ask you where you buy your duvets and pillows!!! Highly recommend- x

Cream tea on arrival

By Julia on 26-Jul-2022

Cottage and garden were lovely and had everything we needed. Cream tea on arrival was a lovely gesture and the people we meet in the village were very friendly. There is lots to do in the area and the hosts provide a wealth of information and are on hand if you have any questions. We have no hesitation in recommending this cottage and hope to return in the future.
