How to put into words the many delightful towns and villages that you can find both here along the French Riviera and throughout Provence? Seeing is certainly believing and hopefully for many people, visiting the French Riviera and Provence is a "once in a lifetime" event.

The French Riviera :

World-renowned as a tourism hotspot, the Côte d’Azur also attracts visitors from Europe and beyond, drawing them in with its quality of life and exceptional location in the heart of Europe coupled with incredibly easy access to the Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport makes this area an open gateway to the rest of the world.

13 km from Antibes, 11 km from Cannes and 26 km from Nice airport, lies Valbonne; a rather charming, pretty and sought-after Provençal village. The village is surrounded by woodlands made up of pines, holm oaks and olive trees.

In summer Valbonne is alive with the hustle and bustle of locals and tourists alike in search of culinary delights, local produce and regional specialities and during the Chrismas festivities -- totally irrisistable.

Many also come just for the busy and really well stocked market that's held every Friday morning while events such as brocantes, agricultural markets, art and pottery conventions, St. Roch Festival, concerts and antique shows make Valbonne a very lively village.

Less than 2kl from the medieval villages of Valbonne/Plascassier/Mougins is this spacious modern villa with panoramic views of the countryside. It has 5 bedrooms and 4 terraces facing east and south. The kitchen/lounge/dining areas have direct access to terraces/pool which have wonderful views of the countryside. The summer kitchen has a pizza oven, sink, fridge and dishwasher as well as a covered area with solid teak dining for 12 and teak couches for relaxing. The gardens are landscaped with many trees offering shade and fruit. South/East/West facing the terraces have spectacular open views of dawn and sunset. Air-conditioned throughout, the kitchen is fully fitted and the pool terrace is private and secure. You will be less than a 2min drive from the local village of Valbonne which has

many wonderful restaurants and shops to suit everyone's taste And pocket. Afterwards, relax in the village square with a chilled glas of wine, a light lunch and space for kids to play.

Long before it became the mecca of the sun-worshipping 21st Century tourist, the Riviera was popular among foreigners as a winter resort.

Lord Brougham, the Lord Chancellor of England, was accustomed to the winter in Nice but in 1834 was forced by an outbreak of cholera in Provence to stay in Cannes. He liked it so much he built a house where he stayed until his death in 1868.

Other famous Englishmen who made their home on the Riviera, were the writers Somerset Maugham in Cap Ferrat, Graham Greene in Antibes, and the film actor/writer, Sir Dirk Bogarde, who was President of the Cannes Film Festival in 1984, when he lived near Grasse.

Another foreign colony was the Russian nobility, who until the Revolution in 1917, were regularly joined by the Imperial Court. Their legacy is a number of beautiful Russian Orthodox churches in Cannes, Nice and Menton.

The Americans began to make there mark in the 1920s - Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford from the film world, Ernest Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald, the writers, and the young Americans with Money. They introduced jazz, the music of Cole Porter and sunbathing. There was more jazz at the end of the second world war stimulated by the US Naval base: the Juan-les-Pins Jazz Festival dates from this period.

In the 1930s many German artists in exile settled in Sanary-sur-Mer. Other communities of artists have been established in Vallauris, where Picasso revived the traditional craft of pottery and which now hosts a bi-annual International Festival of Ceramic Art (July to mid October), and in St-Paul-de-Vence, where James Baldwin, the American author lived for many years.

Monaco, where fortunes have been lost and won on the gaming tables, still attracts a significant number of wealthy tax exiles

You will be less than a 2min drive from the local village of Valbonne which has many wonderful restaurants and shops to suit everyone's taste And pocket.
