Description

Ten minutes drive to the beach, surfing, coastal paths and Ilfracombe harbour. Exmoor within easy reach. Sunny garden.

Honeysuckle Cottage, dating back to the 1800s, has been converted from the original farm stables and barns, is set within a courtyard with far reaching views of the countryside and the North Devon coast.

Nestled on the outskirts of West Down village and just a few miles from the beach, is this delightful little two bedroom cottage set amongst large gardens with a BBQ area, a tennis court and games room. Patio furniture and a BBQ are provided to guests of Honeysuckle Cottage. There is a free car parking space. The ground floor of the cottage includes a lounge , small kitchen complete with hob, combo cooker/microwave and a recently renovated shower room. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed/or two small singles and the other a double bed. The cottage has internet, smart TV (with streaming to Netflix, itv hub and iPlayer) a DVD player and a DVD library. Linen and bath towels are provided. There are laundry facilities within the cottage grounds at additional cost. It is the perfect base for exploring and enjoying the stunning North Devon beaches, coastal paths and countryside, Exmoor or the many nearby attractions any time of year.

Whilst the property can accommodate four people, we recommend a maximum of three adults for comfort plus children up the occupancy of four. One dog accepted free of charge.

The cottage opens up onto a sunny grassed courtyard and stepping outside is a patio table and chairs for our guests to use. At the rear of the cottage is a walled BBQ area. Perfect place to catch the evening sun. To the right of the tennis court is a gate which leads to the old “croquet lawn” and “bowling green” now just a playing field! There is also a no frills games room for guests to use.

The village of West Down can be easily reached by car or a 15 minute walk. The village has a convenience store, pub with restaurant and a church dating back to Norman times. Honeysuckle cottage is just a few miles from the dramatic North Devon coast which includes the best beaches and surf in the South West including Woolacombe, which is renowned for its 3 mile stretch of golden sand, Croyde and Saunton sands. Here you can find plenty of bars, restaurants and tourist information. The picturesque fishing villages of Lynton , Lynmouth and Clovelly are within easy reach as well as beautiful Exmoor. The Victorian town of Ilfracombe and its delightful harbour and cafes is close by. For walkers and cyclists the South West Coastal Path and Tarka Trail is easily accessible.

Week with the girls and Mum

By Leanne Lanau on 12-Dec-2021

I had another lovely stay at the cottage this summer, with my Mum and the kids. We had a few beach days, a trip on the steam train at Woody Bay, visited the cinema in Ifracombe and had a trip to the farm https://www.woolleyanimals.co.uk (which we would definitely recommend). Thank you Lindsey and Mike X x

Me and my dog

By Linda Alexander on 12-Dec-2021

My second stay at the lovely Honeysuckle Cottage, with my dog. Charming and cosy, with a great new bathroom with walk in shower. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bedrooms inviting. I slept really well here. Plenty of places to exercise your dog with lots of fantastic walks. Would highly recommend and will return.
