Honeysuckle Cottage, dating back to the 1800s, has been converted from the original farm stables and barns, is the end terrace, set within a courtyard of nine cottages with far reaching views of the countryside and the North Devon coast.

Nestled on the outskirts of West Down village and just a few miles from the beach, is this delightful little two bedroom cottage set amongst large communal gardens with a BBQ area, a tennis court and games room. Sun loungers, patio furniture and a BBQ are provided to guests of Honeysuckle Cottage. There is a car parking space. The ground floor of the cottage includes a lounge , small kitchen complete with hob, combo cooker/microwave and a recently renovated shower room. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed/or two small singles and the other a double bed. The cottage has internet, smart TV (with streaming to Netflix, itv hub and iPlayer) a DVD player and a DVD library. Linen and bath towels are provided. A cot and Z bed can be provided upon request. There are laundry facilities within the cottage grounds at additional cost. It is the perfect base for exploring and enjoying the stunning North Devon coast and countryside, Exmoor or the many nearby attractions any time of year.

Whilst the property can accommodate four people, due to its unique cosiness, we recommend a maximum of three adults for comfort plus children up the occupancy of four. One dog accepted free of charge.

The cottage opens up onto a sunny grassed courtyard and stepping outside is a patio table and chairs for our guests to use. At the rear of the cottage is a walled BBQ area. Perfect place to catch the evening sun. To the right of the tennis court is a gate which leads to the old “croquet lawn” and “bowling green” now just a playing field!

The village of West Down can be easily reached by car or a 15 minute walk. The village has a convenience store, pub with restaurant and a church dating back to Norman times. Honeysuckle cottage is just a few miles from the dramatic North Devon coast which includes the best beaches and surf in the South West including Woolacombe, which is renowned for its 3 mile stretch of golden sand, Croyde and Saunton sands. Here you can find plenty of bars, restaurants and tourist information. The picturesque fishing villages of Lynton , Lynmouth and Clovelly are within easy reach as well as beautiful Exmoor. The Victorian town of Ilfracombe and its delightful harbour and cafes is close by. For walkers and cyclists the South West Coastal Path and Tarka Trail is easily accessible.

April 2021 Stay

By Mark, Heather, Laura on 19-Apr-2021

We have just had a fab week at the cottage. It was the first week it opened in 2021 after the Covid lockdown. The cottage was very clean, warm, comfortable and well kitted out. I have never slept so well. The location is superb with quick access to many attractions. We worked the kitchen facilities hard as you cant eat indoors at pubs and restaurants.
For walkers that can cope with gradients, do coastal path walks from Mortahoe around Mount Point and Combe Martin to Lower Hangman.
Woolacombe beach is worth the £8 parking. Village pub currently only open at weekends.
Use Hillsborough Car Park in Ilfracombe. to visit Verity and harbour. 40p/ hour ! Most car parks are around £1.10 per hour.
Croyde was a good day out. There is a coastal walk from the free National Trust car park at the West end of Ilfracombe. Only use it if you are ok driving on narrow steep roads with turns. I would go again to see what the inside of the pubs and restaurants look like. Dont hesitate to book this.
