Jurassica House is part of our Olympic legacy, home to the Swedish sailing team during the sailing events in 2012. A great location for water sports enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, rock climbing, bird watching and of course, perfect for simply for relaxing.
Internally, the spacious living areas are completed to a high standard with oak flooring, porcelain tiles and quality modern furnishings throughout. The sizeable master bedroom and living room offer beautiful views over Chesil Beach, extending out across the English Channel, The Fleet and Weymouth Bay. Externally, the enclosed private garden is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring and is great for children.
Jurassica House is within walking distance to the cafes, art houses, pubs and general shops of Portland. Also within a short walk is the truly magnificent Chesil Beach – an 18 mile long shingle beach of National Heritage importance. The new international Marina is a five minute walk from the house and diving trips operate from here. Kite-surfing, sailing and windsurfing are among the water sports available. At the end of the road is Osprey Leisure Centre, offering an indoor swimming pool, gym, squash courts and other leisure activities. The iconic Portland Bill lighthouse is a nearby visitors’ attraction.
The traditional Georgian seaside town of Weymouth can be reached within a 15 minute drive. The glorious stretch of golden sandy beach is complete with traditional Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides in the summer.
Weymouth offers an abundance of high street shops, with a large department store alongside small independent shops, boutiques and restaurants. Brimming with attractions for family fun, visit the Sea Life Park and Marine Sanctuary or take in a show at the Pavilion Theatre.
Super 8-bed 4-floor house with 4 car park slots
By Robert Dilworth on 23-Aug-2018
We LOVED this clean modern Jurassic Coast house, in this little 2012 Olympic village set around a central sports field. 8 of us and 4 cars found ample space. The house is just so very well-fitted out. There are a lot of stairs to climb, making it unsuitable for the infirm, but two septagenarians became very fit in that top master en-suite bedroom. Very sympathetic owner, friendly and helpful, has obviously taken great pride in the presentation of the house. The location has lots of good about it: a stunning vista up the length of Chesil Beach, and of some of the harbour with its frenetic sailing and windsurfing. Close by are the local Health Club with 25-metre swimming pool, a National Sailing Centre and multiple boatyards and chandleries, along with English Heritage's Henry VIII fort. Nice walks around the Portland isthmus, which echoes Table Mountain - a large plateau area up 100 metres in elevation, about 5km long, accessed by a challenging 1-in-1 footpath from just down the road from the house, or by the steep road up past the Co-op food store just 600 metres away. On top there is an amazing free Sculpture Park, plus lots of quarries of Portland Stone, as well as a big Tesco, the Portland Bill at the southern end with car park, lighthouse, visitor centre café, and pub. Coast paths serving this plateau give breath-taking views to the mainland West and East of Weymouth. Back at sea level, across the causeway towards Weymouth is a nice Olympic-modern café and harbour visitor centre, serving wonderful heart-attack breakfasts among other things, and then you have all of Dorset and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast in front of you, from Swanage to Seaton, so much to admire and visit and enjoy. We saw the Weymouth Carnival in mid-August, super fireworks visible from near the house. We slept so well here, because all is quiet at night. The adjacent former Naval airstrip was busy on a couple of our days with Helicopter pilot training, it did not reduce the enjoyment of the lovely private sunny patio with its fine outdoor furniture, which we utilised to the full. So - Fantastic Holiday. 5 Stars! Hugely expensive in mid-August, but we very much felt this lovely facility was worth it. Thank You!
Dearest Robert, I have read your beautifully written review over and over again, thank you ever so much. I love it when guests enjoy our holiday house and the beauty of Jurassic Coast. It was our absolute pleasure having you and your family to stay and we do hope you may return one day. Maxine, MAXICOAST

Wonderful Spacious House - excellently furnished & equipped.
By Heidi on 30-Dec-2017
Maxine went out of her way to make our family stay here special. House spacious with roomy communal spaces plenty big enough for 8 people. All the gear you would need to cater for and entertain the family. 5 min walk from portland harbour and chesil beach. House over 4 floors so layout takes a bit of getting used to.. and downstairs twin a touch chilly, overall a fantastic modern property.
Heidi, Thank you for your super review and it is so great to hear your stay was special at Jurassica House with your family for Christmas. We could have boosted the heating for the lower ground floor remotely, I wish you had got in touch, it would have been an easy fix. It would be our pleasure to have you come and stay again, as you were a delight to liaise with. Best wishes for the New Year
Beautiful property with fantastic view
By Ruth McStay on 26-Aug-2017
Spacious house spread over 4 floors with beautiful views to Chesil sands and Portland harbour. Well equipped kitchen, fantastic view from lounge, garden and master bedroom, plenty of room for 7adults and a baby. Clean and well presented throughout with comfortable beds. If you struggle with stairs not ideal but ideal for asthma sufferers as only carpet is on stairs.
Ruth, it was our pleasure to have you and your family to stay. Thank you for the review. I totally agree - watching the sunset from the huge picture window in the living room is spectacular
