Description

Double bed holiday cottage with open plan living room with beautiful views

The Nook at Postgate Farm is a one bedroomed holiday cottage within the beautiful, peaceful setting of Postgate Farm, set up by the owners to provide a luxurious, peaceful setting for a romantic break for couples. The Nook is full of character, featuring exposed beams, stonework and wood burning stove. Downstairs, the Nook has an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area with ample facilities for 2 persons. Upstairs there is a king sized double bed, en-suite toilet and luxurious free standing bath area, which has a shower attachment, but no stand up shower. Ample off-road parking is provided, and outside is a private sitting area with stunning views to the South over Glaisdale Dale. There is a TV with Freesat satellite TV, FREE superfast wi-fi broadband and a DVD player with a range of DVDs.

Note The Nook may also be suitable for parents with one young infant (plenty of space to set up a travel cot either upstairs or downstairs).

The Nook is set in a beautiful, peaceful location in Glaisdale Dale, within the fabulous North York Moors National Park, yet less than half an hour from Whitby and the beautiful Cleveland coastline. The cottage has stunning views to the South over the Dale to the forests and moorlands beyond. The Dale itself is served by just one road which means very little traffic, yet is only a mile from the thriving village community of Glaisdale and all its amenities including the village pub, award winning butchers, post office and general store, tennis court and the Robinson Institute, home of the renowned Esk Valley Theatre Company. The village has a railway station and is served by local bus routes. Glaisdale is an ideal holiday location, with stunning walks and cycling available without even getting in your car. A little further afield are other parts of the North York Moors, with pretty villages such as Goathland, Grosmont, Egton, Lealholm, Rosedale Abbey and Egton Bridge just a few minutes drive or a healthy hike away, or by using the picturesque Esk Valley Railway, which runs from Whitby to Middlesborough, and also connects to the famous North York Moors Railway, complete with steam trains, connecting to Pickering. The local bus service connects to Whitby, and the other villages of the North York Moors. The towns of Pickering in the heart of the North York Moors, and Whitby on the coast are less then half an hours drive away and can also be accessed by rail as mentioned above. York and Scarborough lie approximately 50 minutes drive from Glaisdale. Whether you want to see the beauty of the North York Moors with its expansive moorlands, hidden valleys, waterfalls and industrial heritage or the stunning Cleveland coastline, Glaisdale is an ideal base for your stay.

For food and drink lovers we are surrounded by great pubs and restaurants, and for those wanting to cook for themselves, great suppliers such as award winning butchers, fishmongers and smokehouses.

gorgeous rural retreat

By Julie e on 16-Jan-2021

Gorgeous rural retreat. Just back from 4 wonderfully relaxing nights in this delightful cottage. So warm and cosy with fabulous views over Glaisdale. Excellent facilities throughout and lots of thoughtful touches. Mark and Moya are very warm and friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome. Lots of interesting walks around the area - not enough time to see everything - will definitely return! 10/23/2020 at 1:59 PM You responded on 10/23/2020 at 10:21 PM thanks for the review Julie! so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Postgate Farm. turns out you were pretty accurate with your weather forecast; the week wasn't as bad as we'd expected. so pleased to see you both exploring the area on foot. we are so lucky to have so many lovely walks from our doorstep and pleased you enjoyed them too. Paradise’s garden This is a beautifully done, cosy cottage. You are surrounded by a valley of green which you can walk down and through in 1.5 hrs. The hosts were very welcoming and are so kind. We couldn't have asked for anything more! So many stylish and meaningful touches. We would love to return again.
