Beautiful little Nook in a stunning location with lovely owners!

By Lesley K on 27-Dec-2018

A magical place to stay especially at Christmas! From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed & comfortable. The owner was helpful with directions & purchasing pork pies for us from the local butcher. The Nook is small but absolutely perfectly formed, just brilliant for 2 of us. A lovely deep bath with added bath bombs was a real treat. The bed was so comfortable with really good quality bed linen, duvet & pillows, a good nights sleep is essential when staying away from home & we definitely had that. Very pretty festive decorations made us feel really at home & with the log burner on it was almost magical over the Christmas period. The views are stunning, nothing else could describe it! You could sit for hours just relaxing & looking. A tin of fat balls for the birds is a nice touch, we thoroughly enjoyed watching the little Robins. Everything you need is there, no need to worry about a thing. Nice cosy rugs to wrap up in, plenty of good quality pans, baking tins, plates, glasses etc, tea, coffee etc it’s all there. The dishwasher a bonus at Christmas, love it. We really can’t thank the owners enough. We had a lovely Christmas, we had a lovely stay. We will definitely return. We highly recommend this little slice of paradise.
My Response
thanks so much for your kind words! we're so pleased you had a relaxing stay here at Postgate Farm. we agree those pork pies are something special! it was a pleasure meeting you both and we hope to see you back again sometime!!

Lovely stay in a cosy cottage in a beautiful valley

By Julie Hollett on 21-Oct-2018

We had a wonderful break at Postgate Nook. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Loved the character of the place, the wood burning stove and beautiful views across the valley. Lovely to see so many stars in the dark skies and watch the livestock being taken out to the fields as well as the birds singing away in the morning. Highly recommended for a peaceful break. We spent most days walking in the beautiful countryside. The cottage has lots of small touches that really make a difference. Thanks Moyà & Mark. All in all a restorative break.

Thanks Julie for your kind words! we're glad you enjoyed your stay with us at Postgate Farm, even though the weather wasn't always so good!

A home away from home

By Veronica Ris-Lunter on 22-Aug-2018

We spent a few wonderful weeks at the Postgate Nook. The property is very comfortable and decorated in a quintessential cottage style with all modern amenities, exactly as we had hoped from the photos. The location is outstanding. Such lovely views to wake up to and enjoy the rest of the day! We hiked almost every day; the possibilities in the area are endless and Mark and Moya had some very good suggestions. They are the perfect hosts: there when you want some advice or something needs sorting out, but otherwise living their own life so their guests can have privacy. We truly felt at home, and if we choose to holiday in the same area again there is no other place we would want to stay.
My Response
Thanks Veronica for your very kind words! It was so nice to have you staying here at Postgate Farm and we're glad you enjoyed it!

Postgate Nook.what a delight!

By Sue S on 22-Jul-2018

Characterful cottage, tastefully refurbished in a fabulous, picturesque setting with amazing views. We were privileged to also have glorious weather whilst staying in this gem of a cottage! Moya and Mark are excellent hosts without being overbearing. They are happy to provide a wealth of local, insiders knowledge in order for you to have a wonderful holiday. Cottage located only about 15-20 mins from Whitby, providing easy access to coastal locations. Scenic coastal walks nearby, many walks also directly from cottage without having to access via car. Hope to return to the area to witness the lovely moors in full heather glory, wouldn't hesitate to rebook at Postgate Nook. We wish you continued success Moya and Mark with your lovely cottage and any future accommodation. Sue and Mick.
My Response
thanks for your very kind words, so glad you enjoyed your stay with us here at Postgate Farm! heather is just coming out now, a bit early due to the dry weather. would be great to see you back here sometime and catch up again!

Perfect for Two!

By Belinda C on 18-Feb-2018

Echoing previous reviews, a big thank you to Mark and Moya for being such wonderful hosts of a little gem of a place. We loved everything about Postgate Nook and stayed warm and cosy throughout our blustery February week: log burner, blankets, cosy bedding and warm baths were all a treat to come back to after a day of exploring. The wine and bath bombs were also appreciated! What a beautiful place the north York Moors is - wow; we truly relaxed and enjoyed all the scenery, towns and villages, along with meeting so many friendly people. The cottage is really well placed within the area and we'd recommend it in a heartbeat for a real break from the hustle and bustle of life. Thanks again - all was perfect.
My Response
Thanks so much for your lovely words! You certainly experienced some of the North York Moors' worst weather, but glad you enjoyed yourselves anyway! Lovely to meet you both and hope we might see you back at Postgate Farm one day.

Spectacular cottage with wonderful views

By Janinewd on 25-Jan-2018

This cottage is beautiful- a real home away from home! The cottage has everything you could possibly need- the kitchen is well stocked with all the crockery and utensils you could possibly need, extra treats in the cupboard and a bottle of red upon arrival! The lounge area is cosy, with a log-burning fire, blankets to cosy under and plenty of DVD’s if you fancy a cosy night in. The bedroom is very comfortable; a cosy bed and an array of candles if you fancy a romantic evening! The deep free-standing bath even comes with bath-bombs! We would highly recommend Postgate Farm, the cottage is lovely and the hosts super friendly and helpful. It is the best home away from home we have stayed in by far! We will definitely return.

A Real ‘Nook’ Hideaway

By on 28-Dec-2017

What an ideal place to spend Christmas together, just the two of us. Postgate Nook had everything we required, and Mark and Moyà had even decorated the cottage with seasonal trimmings. We were ideally place: away from it all, but close to attractions such as Whitby (fish and chips at The Magpie ..mmm), Sandsend and Runswick, and a delicious traditional lunch at The Board, Lealholm. When we returned we could relax, warm and comfortable with books or TV, and that essential requisite a wood burning stove. A memorable Christmas, in a beautiful location; thank you Mark and Moyà.
My Response
Many thanks for your very kind words! Sorry we were away, but we're so pleased your stay at Postgate Farm was good. Hope to see you again sometime!

We could not have found a better place to stay in North Yorkshire. Glaisdale on the edge of the moors is a beautiful place. The Nook is cosy and comfortable with wonderful views from the terrace. The countryside is beautiful with a circular walk and paths up to the moors. The owners, Mark and Moya could not have been more helpful and there were nice touches like a welcoming bottle of wine and biscuits.

Absolutely wonderful.

By John P on 04-Jul-2017

Lovely little cottage, ideal for two. Stunning scenery from the main living area. Everything exceptionally clean and tidy. Kitchen/dining area well equipped with just about everything you need. Upstairs, the large double bed is extremely comfortable, with the bath shower unit in the room. The toilet and wash basin are in a separate little room off to the side, and all towels and linen supplied. One small criticism, which could be easily rectified, is the lack of 'vanity' space. A couple of corner shelves by the wash basin for soap, tooth brushes deodorant, etc. A shelf under the bedroom mirror for make up and one behind the bath would make this delightful cottage perfect. Mark and Moya made us feel most welcome, and I would recommend their cottage to any couple. Many thanks, John and Christine.
My Response
Many thanks for your kind words, we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Postgate Farm even though the weather wasn't always too kind! thanks also for your suggestions, we will certainly look at what we can do to add some shelf space.

A Hidden Gem in The Moors

By Dave I on 23-Jun-2017

After a long car journey, one could not wish for a more relaxing accommodation with stunning views over the Glaisdale Dale, as we chilled out on our private terrace drinking a well above average complimentary bottle of wine. Mark and Moya have obviously given a lot of thought to ensure comfort and good taste with all those nice touches that make all the difference. Soaking in the free standing bath was a joy after many of our brilliant walks, where you are spoilt for choice. We enjoyed our stay so much, as others will and can't wait to return. Many thanks to you both

A perfect long weekend

By Emma G on 17-Feb-2017

When we reviewed the description of Mark and Moya's cottage on Owners Direct it sounded perfect - and it was! Everything about the cottage has been lovingly well thought out, from the complimentary bubbly and bath bombs, to the cosy log burning fire and blankets. The free standing bath in the bedroom was such a treat and the kitchen well stocked if you want to eat in instead of out. There are some lovely walks around the area, and the cottage is only 20 minutes or so from Whitby. All in all, we had a fantastic weekend (assisted with Mark and Moya's recommendations for places to eat and visit) and we can't wait to return next year! Emma and Liam
My Response

Just perfect everything & the views are stunning, it made us both feel very relaxed

By Karen N on 12-Feb-2017

Dear Mark & Moyà, we both feel there is nothing to improve in your cottage we absolutely loved staying there, everything about it was just perfect and we would like to return again one day but maybe when the weather is better. There is only a couple of things that could improve is having an extractor fan above the hob as we set the fire alarms off when frying our steaks on Friday night lol and a splash back behind the hob too would be good, apart from that all was beautiful and thank you for letting us stay. Hope to see you both again one day and don't go too hard on the plastering, Steve says give us a ring if you get stuck or find it a bit too much. Thanks again Karen & Steve
My Response
thanks for the review and a couple of ideas we can improve on in the future. plastering still going well (2 bags on Saturday!). hope to see you back at Postgate Farm soon!

Perfect, peaceful, relaxing retreat!

By Jack B on 07-Sep-2016

We had a great time at Postgate Nook in Glaisdale, it surpassed our expectations. Mark and Moya were really helpful with the few questions we had before arrival and during our stay were there if we needed them. The cottage itself is really well furnished, with everything you need for a self-catering. We had all we needed for cooking and even baking. We were really luck with weather but the surrounding area and view from the front porch was so beautiful. Couldn't recommend it enough for a person or couple looking for a relaxing, peaceful retreat.

Absolutely Wonderful!

By Kay B on 20-Aug-2016

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Postgate Nook and have had one of the best breaks ever ! The cottage itself is beautifully finished with a well equipped kitchen, super comfy bed and everything you could need for a comfortable stay (including excellent internet connection). The cottage is in the most beautiful rural location which was easy to find and the views are breathtaking making it feel like proper 'get away from it all' holiday. The owners were lovely, friendly and helpful. We have thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely return.
My Response
thanks for your lovely words! we are glad you enjoyed the stay and hope we might see you back at postgate farm some time in the future! mark and moya

Absolutely beautiful and comfortable place to stay! The week passed so quickly,

By Susan A on 05-Aug-2016

The cottage was so pretty and had everything you could need. Although we didn't cook all utensils were there. Also there were candles everywhere which we was told to use. Also a supply of bath bombs to put in the very comfortable bath! Outside the garden was outstandingly gorgeous and so quiet except for the sound of sheep and cows in the distance. We are defiantly going back to this cottage.
My Response
thanks for the kind words and nice review. it was lovely to meet you and glad you had a great time. also congratulations on catching all the fish! we will recommend this for any future anglers!

Perfect family holiday

By Benjamin357 on 01-Jul-2016

We stayed here for a week in June with our 9 month old baby and had the most fantastic holiday. The nook is perfect in every way, beautiful decor, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, huge freestanding bath, comfy bed and best of all, breathtaking views. Lots of lovely little touches like bath bombs (from Honeyz in Whitby which are lush!!), fresh flowers, candles, wine, biscuits, tea, coffee and milk. Mark
& Moya were the perfect hosts; nothing was too much trouble. They even brought our washing in when it rained!
The nook is ideally located for exploring all the moors has to offer. Would highly recommend Falling Foss and the steam train from Grosmont.
We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend the nook without hesitation

Amazing views & total relaxation

By Debbie S on 04-Jun-2016

We had a lovely relaxing few days at Postgate Nook. The cottage looks out onto miles of beautiful farmland, and there's a view from every window! Inside its comfortable, cosy & warm, with loads of attention to detail like bath bombs, candles, & a huge selection of DVDs. The weather wasn't the best while we were there so we made the most of the cottage. We did manage a walk to Beggars Bridge and had a few drinks in the local pub. Also it's only 20 mins from the coast so ideally located. Highly recommended!
My Response
thanks for the review! the weather has been pretty bad this year so far, but glad it didn't spoil your stay and you had a relaxing time anyway, that's what we aim for. let's hope summer will start sometime soon! hope you might get a chance to come back sometime when the weather is better. thanks, Mark and Moya

wonderful holiday home

By Paul F on 17-May-2016

Postgate Nook is a fabulous holiday home tucked away in Glaisdale. The position is excellent with easy access to both the North York Moors with wonderful walks, and the coast with Whitby and Staithes. The house is very well equipped for two and is tastefully renovated. The views are wonderful as it looks out right across Glaisdale. Mark & Moya were also lovely hosts and happy to help with advice whenever required.
My Response
many thanks for your kind words, and glad you had a nice stay!!

Just perfect

By Ethel H on 19-Apr-2016

A wonderful warm welcome from Mark and Moyà to a beautiful cottage. A luxury few days away for us. Beautiful bath bombs and a lovely bottle of wine, everything we needed and bed was so comfy we had great sleep. Loved waking up to the sheep and lambs. Had beautiful walk up along the moor, and a short drive to Whitby with its quaint shops led us to marvellous fresh fish n chips. Butcher in Ruswarp sold great well priced gourmet meat and the little butcher in the Glaidesdale village along with the post office / shop was superb too. Hope to return next year, it was very hard to leave such a wonderful place / people.

Stunningly beautiful and cozy.

By Vicky C on 10-Apr-2016

From the moment I arrived to the moment I left things were just perfect...... Easy to find, with lovely scenery throughout the whole drive. I was welcomed by Mark on my arrival, who showed me into the cottage and made me aware of everything it offered ( even offered to carry my bags but I was too embarrassed to say yes as I unfortunately don't know the meaning of travelling light, he would have thought I was staying for a month ). I came armed with everything I thought I would need for a self catering break only to find Moyà had got milk in for me, tea & coffee already there, biscuits in the cupboard and a bottle of wine, all very much appreciated. The cottage was spotless, had everything you would need. Bed extremely comfy. The views from the cottage were breathtaking, had my breakfast outside on the table and chairs on 2 occasions so I could take full advantage, the big glass door and window also from the inside gave you a full view of scenery 24/7. I wish I could add some photos I took so you can all see what I had the pleasure of over the Easter weekend....lovely local walks.....lovely local pubs It was lovely Mark & Moyà being close by, they didn't intrude in the slightest, very much left me to my little cottage but they were so welcoming, I knew I could have knocked on their door at anytime. Both lovely welcoming people who I enjoyed having chats with when I saw them out in the garden or the yard. Would I visit again..........totally..........I enjoyed a very, quiet, chilled, relaxing break.....came back fully refreshed...... Thank you Mark & Moyà x

Fabulous find

By Abigail H on 06-Apr-2016

A cosy and welcoming cottage where the owners have clearly put a lot of thought and effort in. Lots of great finishing touches - candles to make the nights extra cosy and handmade bath bombs mean that a soak in the free standing bath has a sense of luxury. Kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and pots and pans. Welcome bottle of wine, cookies, milk, tea, coffee and hot chocolate mean that you can start to unwind straight away. Much recommended country break.

so glad you appreciated those small touches and that they helped you enjoy your stay!
