Totally refurbished to high standard and situated within a garden of over an acre which has its own river frontage Ormrods faces south & looks out to the moor . The house provides comfortable accommodation for six people. There is adequate off road parking . The house is approached down a no-through lane giving it a tranquill setting within the village. Bi-fold doors lead from the sittng room and dining room onto a south facing balcony with a table and chairs for those long summer evenings .The Two Moors Way passes within 50 metres of the property as well as this footpath there are others leading in all directions out of Withypool besides the moor to explore where you may see some Exmoor ponies Birds of Prey or even Red Deer. The walk from Withypool along the River Barle to Tarr steps(a prehistoric clapper bridge) is very pretty. Exmoor recently gained the first European night sky award for the quality of its clear skies, something you can discover from the balcony of the house.

Excellent property in a lovely location

What a great house this is - and the large dog kennels made it a very user-friendly place for organising our days. Over the years we have stayed in many rental properties and this one is better provisioned than most we have stayed in. Unfortunately the village pub is still closed and will remain so until a new leaseholder is found (according to the locals with whom we spoke). Great walks in the vicinity - especially to Tarr Steps along the River Barle. We were blessed with weather that would have been good in May, let alone February. The village shop has a comprehensive range of goods at reasonable prices. Neighbours on both sides were charming and helpful. Note there is no mobile phone coverage for miles around - refreshing in it's own way - but there is internet at the property so you can make calls via wifi.

Great place, great views.

A clean and comfortable place to stay with great views of the river and hillside. Good village shop and tea rooms, delicious cream teas! Just a shame the local pub had closed. Fantastic area to stay especially with the autumn colours.

Perfect, tranquil holiday

What a lovely peaceful holiday home in a gorgeous spot, down narrow country lanes and overlooking the beautiful moors. With access to the river from the bottom of the garden, it was ideal on warm days to paddle and play in. We had a wonderful time and would love to return.

Perfect tranquil getaway

The house was clean and tidy, beds comfortable and linen of a high quality, we slept very well every night. The house is well equipped however the Rayburn oven took a little getting used to for a novice. Decor and furniture all in good condition. The outside decking area is absolutely gorgeous to unwind and relax after being out all day, the birdsong and views are amazing. Garden was great for the kids and the dogs, however the garden is not fully secure for the dogs but that was explained by the owner and wasn't an issue for us. Communication with the owner was responsive within a day or so, booking was easy. We loved the property and location so much we have booked again within days of returning as the spacious layout of the property, location to attractions and the feeling of truly being in the country was a real pleasure. The local shop is very well stocked and priced reasonably. The local pub, Royal Oak,served beautifully cooked tasty meals and the best roast dinners we have had in a long time, however it does get very busy and would recommend booking a table at least a week in advance as not to be disappointed. Tea room served light snacks, cakes and ice cream and a lovely cup of tea. Beautiful village, beautiful house, cant wait to return ! We have recommended this property to families and friends.

A week in wonderful Withypool

This is a beautiful property in the delightful Exmoor village of Withypool. The garden is lovely and has the added attraction of the river Bayle flowing through the bottom of the garden and a an area of special scientific interest.We and our dogs enjoyed the fantastic walks and once we arrived there was no need to travel anywhere else there was so much to do. The village shop and pub were excellent and the locals very friendly. It is a popular spot for walkers so the pub and tea rooms do get busy. There is no mobile phone signal so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you will need to use the public phone box. Thoroughly recommended.
