Casa Aurelio is located in the beautiful hillside area of Le Marche with wonderful views all around. The hilltop town of Montegiorgio is seven minutes drive away providing all the basic amenities you will need. The house is ideally placed for exploring the Adriatic coast, the many hilltop towns and the mountains of the Sibillini National Park. Casa Aurelio has been a farm house for most of its life built in the traditional style, with high ceilings, exposed beams and tiled floors. The house has been lovingly restored retaining many of the original features whilst providing all the modern facilities necessary for an enjoyable holiday including WiFi. Central heating is available in the winter months and logs for the fire. The house has been planned as two completely self- contained units. Only the larger part is rented out; the smaller part is used by the owners from time to time. The privacy of guests is not affected by this and the owners only use the pool when guests are not in or around it. The house is ideal for family holidays or for anyone wanting comfort, tranquillity and glorious views - see the uTube link in "web address" The house is not suitable, however, for children under 6 or adults with mobility problems.
On the ground floor the lounge/dining room (26 sq. metres) is comfortably furnished , cool in summer, snug in winter with its open fireplace. French doors open on to the west facing terrace – a lovely spot on a summer’s evening. A hatch links the kitchen to the dining area which has a large table and six chairs. The cloakroom contains a toilet and wash basin and mirror.
On the first floor there are two bedrooms – one with a double bed and the other with two single beds (a folding bed is also available). Each bedroom has a wardrobe and chest of drawers and a ceiling fan. Insect screens are fitted to all the windows of the house to ensure your nights are mozzie free! The bathroom comprises shower, washbasin and toilet. A hair drier is provided.
Outside Leading from the kitchen is a spacious covered portico for al fresco eating - with a large table, six chairs and barbecue. This sheltered area provides welcome shade from the midday sun whilst affording unbroken views to the west and the distant montains. The sun setting behind Monte S Vicino is a memorable sight . From the terrace you can take a gentle path or the steps down to the pool which is on the lower level of the garden; the landscaped slopes are covered in lavender, roses, oleander and other shrubs providing privacy for both swimmers and sunbathers. The swimming pool is 10 x 5 metres with a depth of 1.5 metres and surrounded by cotto tiles. The pool is open mid May to mid September. At one end is the sunbathing terrace with six sun loungers. The views across the rolling hills with their olive groves and open fields are stunning. The garden is about 1,500 square metres with a variety of scrubs, flowers, olive and fruit trees.
The area Le Marche is known as “Italy in one region” and compared to other better known regions remains relatively unspoilt by mass tourism offering visitors a chance to taste the real Italy. With a stunning 180 kilometer coastline and magnificent mountain scenery; its rich history and culture le Marche really does have something for everyone. Everywhere there are historic hilltop towns many of which hold festivals and pageants throughout the year but particularly in the summer and autumn.
Things to do This part of le Marche offers a wide variety of places to visit and things to do. Located midway between the coast and the mountains Casa Aurelio is just a short drive from so many lovely places. Whatever your interest you will find plenty to do when you’re not lazing by the pool!
If you like the seaside you will find the Adriatic irresistible. Porto San Giorgio is just 25 minutes away with beautiful sand, safe bathing and good eating. Grottammare and San Benedetto del Tronto are further south with palm tree lined esplanades and gorgeous fish restaurants whilst to the north you can enjoy the Conero peninsular with its rocky cliffs and sheltered beaches. The area is rich in culture with roman archaeological sites ,castles, churches and abbeys, medieval hilltop towns, concerts and opera (the arena in Macerata is second only to Verona ), and further afield the world famous towns of Assisi and Urbino make a worthwhile day trip. For wine lovers there are a wide variety of local wines of all qualities and prices. If you love the mountains the Sibillini National Park offers something for the least to the most energetic. The limestone caves at Frasassi are truly breathtaking and nice and cool in summer! If you like to include some shopping as part of your holiday there are plenty of factory outlets in the area with nearby Montegranaro the centre of Italian shoe making and we provide some suggestions on places to try at the house. The new shopping centre at Civitanove Marche, near to the autostrada is well worth a visit.
Eating out is one of the joys of holidaying in Italy. The local restaurants offer excellent quality at very reasonable prices .On the coast you can eat seafood and fish and further inland meat cooked al brache (grilled on an open fire) or wild boar and truffles as well as local pasta and of course pizza.
When to go Spring - is a lovely time of the year with spring flowers and trees in blossom and the mountain peaks still covered in snow .The weather is often warm and sunny. It’s an ideal time to explore the countryside and the near deserted beaches. In May the pool is opened as temperatures continue to rise and can reach the upper 20s.Wild flowers are in abundance in the mountains as spring reaches the high plains whilst back in the garden the fireflies are coming out in the evenings.
Summer - June is a lovely month with comfortably warm temperatures that encourage both al fresco eating and swimming in the pool. The temperatures in high summer are often over 30 degrees making eating out at all times of the day a joy. Long warm evenings, glorious sunsets and clear skies for star gazing live on in the memory long after the holiday is over.
Autumn - Daytime temperatures in September are still delightful – often in the high 20s.Evenings are starting to get cooler so that by the middle of the month the pool is closed. October and November are cooler months but in the sunshine it’s still warm. Early snowfalls cover the high mountains. Throughout the autumn the local towns hold festivals in celebration of their local produce such as truffles, chestnuts and pasta.
Perfect Getaway Holiday Home
By Marco H on 15-Jul-2017
We are a family of 4, with two young boys (9 and 5) and looked for a holiday house away from the hustle and bustle, with a pool, secluded but mainly, allowed us full privacy. Well, all our wishes were perfectly granted here. The hosts (and owners) of the house are a lovely couple, very friendly, helpful and live as stated in the description, in a separate unit of the house. They are very strict regarding the privacy of the guests staying in the house as we have experienced. It felt we were all alone there but if at any time we had questions or needed tips for trips or restaurants etc., Richard and Gaby where there to assist and advise. Having traveled many times to Italy and stayed in many different houses over the years, Casa Aurelio is by far for us the best one ever. The views from hilltop are breathtaking, the sunsets even more and we loved the secluded area where it is located. But at the same time, big supermarkets and shopping not too far away (15 minutes by car). And if you want to go to the beach, Porto San Giorgio is only half an hour away by car. The house has also all the amenities you need for a pleasant holiday. There is a BBQ (which we used on several occasions, it has WiFi, TV (which we did not use at all) and is very clean. The rooms have plenty of storage for clothes etc. As for Le Marche, it is a beautiful region and we found that people all over here are very friendly and helpful. And at least when we were there, it was very quiet everywhere, just the way we like it on vacation. And if you like to to restaurants, there is an abundance of opportunities to go to, from simple pizzeria’s all the way to top of the bill restaurants. And of course, our boys and we enjoyed the well maintained private pool very much. It was a perfect refresher before and after some excursions in the area. We will definitely come back here.

Casa Aurelio is a very beautiful house for the owners to live in and for the guests to stay and enjoy their holidays. We loved the lovely house, the perfect patio, the amazing swimmingpool, it is a great size and also very well kept, the breathtaking views, the superb sunsets. This is a place where we completely relax and recharge. This region is stunning and it is worth exploring the mountains, the beaches, the market towns and the local restaurants amongst others. We thank Richard and Gaby for the pleasant stay we had at their fantastic place. Your house is amazing and wonderful and we will have many happy memories of our holiday 2017 in it. We can recommend this for anyone who wants to relax without getting interrupted! Well done Richard and Gaby!
