Skyber is a detached 2 bedroomed holiday self catering barn - all on one level - which has a large double bedroom and a second bedroom, containing a small double and a single bed - so can easily accommodate 5. Please note that we can also provide a cot on request when needed and a camp bed for an occasional extra guest. The second bedroom layout is very useful for families with 3 children or who are bringing along a grandparent or nanny for their holiday. The self catering barn has a large deck with table, chairs, deckchairs and barbecue, it's own off road car parking, plus garden and play equipment.

The two traditional barns Skyber and The Byre are situated together on what was once a working farm just North of Truro and within easy reach of either coast. The location seems peaceful and remote, but is just 3 miles from A30 at Carland Cross and 6 miles from Truro, so it is easy to reach all of Cornwall and especially the North Coast such as Perranporth, St Agnes and Newquay which are a short drive away. (c.20mins). The airport is also 13 miles and just over 20 mins from Tregear.

The barns were re-built and then re-furbished in 2012. They are decorated and equipped with virtually everything you would expect in a modern home, including underfloor heating, dishwashers, washer/driers, LED TVs and WiFi. The bedrooms are bright and welcoming, with hardwood furniture and sumptuous bedding; each master bedroom is a luxurious place for couples, whilst the second bedroom is cheerful and imaginative space for youngsters. The sitting rooms are contemporary and comfortable, with plenty of seating and soft cushions, along with HiFis for music lovers, which incorporate either bluetooth connectivity or an iphone docking station. The bathrooms have both a full size bath and power showers and the kitchens are modern, spacious and fully equipped. Outside, each property has its own private and gated deck area with a barbecue, plus hardwood table, parasol and seating. The surrounding lawned area, gardens and the fantastic views are for all guests to share.

Both barns are ideal for families with young children, offering safe enclosed grounds and a play area with climbing frame, slide and swings within view. Also, to save you loading the car to the gunnels, we have provided a comprehensive range of baby equipment including cot, highchair, stairgate (for The Byre) baby bath and changing station. Whilst both barns can easily accommodate 4 persons in their two bedrooms, there is also the option to make it 5 in each. The second bedroom of Skyber has a small double bed and a full size single (plus cots can be provided). The Byre also has a very comfortable fold out sofa bed, in addition to the second bedroom, with it's full size bunk beds, so if you need to accommodate some extra guests for a few days it won't be a problem.

Having said all of the above, the main attraction of Tregear Barns is their location. In the centre of Cornwall - but away from it all - it is an ideal base for touring and a wonderful retreat at the end of a hard day exploring all that Cornwall has to offer.

Thoughtful... Everything You Could Need And More

By Eleanor on 31-Dec-2017

Thoughtful... everything you could need and more, arrived after an awful experience with a previous Airbnb place booked; steve and Judith made so much effort making the place warm and welcoming for myself my partner and two babies. Even bringing a Christmas tree, two highchairs and extra baking tins so I could cook a Christmas dinner! Everything was well thought out and professionally carried out, anything we needed they was supportive and there. The property itself was safe (for the babies) and stunning, we will be recommending this place to everybody just so beautiful and thanks to you both! We will be looking forward to coming back here again...

We Absolutely Loved Staying At Skyber For The Half Term Break With Our Kids!

By Tim on 29-Oct-2016

We absolutely loved staying at Skyber for the half term break with our kids! The location is absolutely perfect - quiet, in the middle of beautiful countryside and the perfect spot for a relaxing break. You would think that you are in the middle of nowhere judging by the fact that all you can hear at night is the central heating turning on or off when, in actual fact, you are very close to the A30 and Truro itself. We were blown away by what a beautiful place Skyber is - its been renovated to a very high standard and has absolutely everything you could want or need. Everything is on one level and is perfect for children. We took our 3 children with us, aged 13, 7 and 11 months, and it was perfect for them. Judith made the effort to provide us with a cot, door gates and a high chair meaning we could travel alot lighter than we would normally have to. That was hugely appreciated and a lovely touch. We didnt need the door guards due to the fact that its all on one level and Poppy could crawl about quite happily without getting into too much trouble! There is a lovely play area and climbing frame with swings and a slide outside which the children thoroughly enjoyed using. There are televisions with freeview in each room and dvd's and games for the kids to watch/play. We were absolutely delighted with the quality of accommodation and will definitely come here again. Highly recommended for families with small children.

Lovely Break, Accommodation Was As Described, Set In A Lovely Location

By Suzanne on 30-Sep-2016

Lovely break, accommodation was as described, set in a lovely location and exactly what we were after. The host let us know that they were available if needed but otherwise left us to enjoy our holiday.

The only word of warning I would give are the lanes in and around are very narrow at points. However saying this, it would not put us off returning again.

Fantastic Location!

By Christopher on 30-Jul-2016

Fantastic location. Being central, there are simply loads of places you can access within 20-30 mins drive. The outdoor space was excellent, the kids spent loads of time on the play frame and the large garden allowed for lots of outdoor time playing games. The cottage itself was great, well equipped and well laid out. We received a very friendly welcome and then were left alone to enjoy our holiday, except when we had queries or requests, which Judith responded to helpfully and efficiently. Overall a fantastic holiday.

Excellent Property In Great Location

By Steve P on 23-Jul-2016

We were absolutely delighted with our stay and from the moment we arrived we received the warmest of welcomes. That friendly atmosphere continued for the whole week from our perfect hosts - the loan of a beach shelter tent to take on our travels was an added bonus as the weather was not overly kind to us! The property is exactly as advertised with furniture and fittings of a very high standard. The beds were extremely comfortable and our two young sons loved their spacious bedroom and the chance to play outside in the garden and on the wooden fort. This is an excellent location as it combines the peace of tranquility of the Cornish countryside with a central location and main routes just a few minutes away meaning we were able to tour the county with ease. We are already looking at options for a return visit and would happily recommend this property to friends and family.

What A Perfect Break

By Sarah on 30-Mar-2016

What a perfect break. Judith was a warm and welcoming host and the Barn was beautiful. It's the perfect place for a quiet getaway and ideally located as a jumping off point to have easy access to the best of Cornwall.
It was the little touches that made it special too - all of the necessary bits and pieces like soap, detergents, tissues etc were provided plus one totally unnecessary but extremely delicious extra - a homemade cake waiting for us on arrival. It was so delicious that we might have eaten it all on the first day! Lucky that there are so many beautiful walks around the area to burn it off.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this listing to anyone - go, relax and replenish. We're sure you'll love it too.

Semplicimente Perfetto

By Roberta R on 26-Jun-2014

Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Adventure Seekers, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway.
My Response

Many thanks for our first Italian review - and for our English readers - this is what Google translate thinks you said! This cottage was for us like being at home; with attention to even the smallest detail, great decor and equipped with everything you would need. Our children 4 and 6 years old especially loved it: as in the garden there was a castle built for them to play on, which they very much enjoyed. In the Barn there were also DVDs, games and books for the little ones. The Barn reflects perfectly the description that we found on the internet; it was just a little hard to find, completely surrounded by fields and woods, but it was worth it. The cleaning was excellent and Judith had even prepared a "cream tea" upon our arrival, with lots of cream, jam and home-made scones! The barns were perfectly located in the center of Cornwall; and we were able to visit many places I definitely recommend it, and if we return to this beautiful region of England, surely this would again be our starting point!

Fantastic Family Holiday

By Nick & Gemma B on 13-Apr-2014

Thank you Steve and Judith for a wonderful family holiday. Our two little girls loved their holiday home as that was exactly how it felt. A brilliant home from home, albeit with much better views. The barns are beautifully decorated and furnished with special little extras like books, games and DVDs for all the family to enjoy. Our Barn was well prepared and the Cornish Cream Tea on arrival, with baby scones for our girls was a really thoughtful touch. The location of the barns is perfect, just a short drive from a number of beautiful beaches, Crantock being our favourite, and numerous other attractions. The grounds are lovely and perfect for small people to run around in and the addition of a garden swing/adventure set was ideal. We were able to lock our bike in the shed overnight and used Steve and Judith's local knowledge to make the most of our week. A wonderful holiday and we hope to revisit the barns again soon. Out Of Season Break

By Nichola on 04-Feb-2014

We took a risk on the weather in the school Christmas holidays and it paid off! However, we would not have minded if it had not as we would have been happy to have spent our time relaxing in the comfort of the lovely Skyber Barn. Our two children loved it as much as we did. It is equipped with everything that you need, tastefully decorated and stocked with games, books and DVDs to entertain you on even the grey days. Fortunately for us, we only had blue skies and sunshine - the children even got to play on the lovely play equipment in the garden - and we were able to make the most of this great, central location which is ideal for exploring the varied and beautiful nearby coastline. We visited Mawgan Porth, Watergate Bay, Holywell Bay, Padstow and Falmouth to name but a few. We ate at some great local restaurants and enjoyed the stunning surrounding countryside too. Often we have found that it takes such a long time to visit anywhere in Cornwall but this location was fantastic for gettting out and about - better than staying right on the coast. Steve and Judith were fantastic hosts, catering for our every need, providing us with recommendations when we asked for them and generally making us feel very welcome and looked after. Judith had even checked that it was alright with us that there was a TV and DVD in the children's room - alright? They were delighted! It was the Christmas holidays after all! But it was very considerate that they checked. This was a truly memorable Twixtmas break and we cannot wait to return. Highly recommended.

First Class Customer Care

By Andrea on 18-Jan-2014

From the first email to Steve we were provided First Class Customer service with detailed information regarding every aspect of our stay at Tregear Barns. On arrival, we found that the Barn was clean, comfortable and homely with all of the home comforts installed. The location of the barns is perfect for exploring Cornwall as it is centrally located which made it perfect for our stay as we took time out between work to visit some of the beautiful places Cornwall has to offer. In all we would recommend Tregear Barns and that Steve and Judith for their hospitality and Communication. Wonderful Cottage In Great Location

By Dougie on 09-Nov-2013

Booked this cottage as me, my partner and two kids fancied a week in Cornwall to visit the Eden Project and a few of the counties great beaches. Skyber was ideally located and fitted the bill perfectly. The property was bigger than I was expecting, but it was the quality of the fittings that made this such a nice place to stay. The underfloor heating keeps the place really warm, the bed is lovely and the kitchen really well equipped. Added touches like WiFi, scones on arrival, children's play area and a pleasant owner just add to the enjoyment of staying here. Very highly recommended for either a couple or a family I'd also like to thank the owner Steve for making the whole booking process so easy. Other than the traffic on the way home, it was the perfect week away.

An Ideal Cornish Holiday Base

By Pianoman on 03-Nov-2013

Deep in the countryside, the location of Tregear Barns feels quiet and remote, as if it were part of the Cornwall of many years ago. Yet it is close to Truro, and well within reach of the north and south coasts. Skyber is a highly comfortable and well-equipped detached barn. While the owners, Judith and Steve, live elsewhere on site, and make themselves available should you have a problem (which I did not!), they are careful not to intrude on your privacy in any way. The comfort of scones, cream and jam on arrival was appreciated, as well as a variety of other supplies which would keep you going if you happened to forget some of your shopping. Skyber has plenty of room inside and out for a family, and has all the essentials for quiet relaxation, especially if you're returning at the end of the day from one of Cornwall's busier attractions. However, you could chose to spend some time with the beauty of the immediate landscape. The property is maintained to a high standard, has underfloor heating for colder times, and feels a true home from home. Recommended.
