We aim to exceed your expectations in offering a holiday cottage that provides a very memorable and relaxing environment from day one. If you are looking for a tranquil, restful and stress free stay, a warm welcome awaits you in this traditional Berry cottage. The cottage is situated just south of Chatillon sur Indre in the quiet hamlet of Le Breuil aux Gittons but only a few minutes drive to local shops and supermarket. Located on the south side of the Loire area of central France (some say the sun shines once you are south of the Loire) all the famous chateaux, vineyards etc are very easily accessible.
The cottage has been fully renovated but retains many of the features seen in the original building. There are 2 large, charming bedrooms, one with additional direct access to the south facing terrace (blue room). We can also provide facilities for a baby. The main door leads to the comfortable and relaxing salon. Although there is no wheelchair access from the outside the cottage is all on one level and more than suitable for anyone with reduced mobility. There are an excellent range of books, regional guides and games available. The cottage has a lovely patio terrace for relaxing at any time. The award winning beautiful enclosed garden is a real 'sun trap', and the 2 mature plane trees provide wonderful shade and are ideal for relaxing under with your favourite book and perhaps a glass of wine in the evening.
Traditional thick walls keep the cottage cool even on the hottest of days and all windows are fitted with pull down screens plus shutters allowing cool air especially in the evening when you may wish to leave windows open. Fully equipped laundry, garden recliners, sunbeds, barbecue with all tools and equipment. 2 good, hybrid cycles available at no charge. Excellent range of books, regional guides and other information. 100 DVD library. Good selection of outdoor and indoor games. Meals & breakfast available for additional charge – full menu and details on owner’s website.
Outside: The cottage is located in a very small hamlet with very little traffic. It has its own gated entrance, gravelled parking, large lawn. The large cottage garden won 2nd prize in the regional flower garden competition in 2016 and is packed with beautiful flowers, climbers and hanging baskets plus two magnificent plane trees providing shade on the hottest of days. The cottage garden is a real sun trap so the reclining sun beds are sure to be used. The cottage has a south facing terrace at the front with small table and chairs plus a separate terrace which is also available for your exclusive use further down the garden. A large external table with chairs can be used for eating outdoors. The garden around the cottage is planted with shrubs and flowers and there are herbs for you to use in the vegetable garden. Unlike many gite complexes these facilities are exclusively yours as this is an independent self-contained gite. Utility Room: Separate laundry room in barn with freezer and washing machine etc. If you are bringing your own washing powder/liquid please note to bring only non-bio as there are septic tanks Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen, towels, disposable slippers and two cosy bath robes are provided. "After 30 years of gite holidays this place gets our vote as the cleanest and with the most helpful and kind owners. John & Maureen could not have been more helpful - unobtrusive, but there when needed. We used it as a base to 'chill out' and the well kept garden was perfect for what we required."

"The cottage proved to be ideal for our family holiday with four adults and a small baby. The cottage was cosy on the chilly days and cool on the very hot days, (thanks to traditional construction, John). The pretty garden was much enjoyed on lazy days and the surrounding countryside and villages had some interesting history. Thank you to Maureen and John for help and advice on all aspects of our holiday. The European festival weekend was a pleasant surprise and we much enjoyed the village and the meal with the locals."

Maureen's note: We were pleased you found the garden ideal for the baby with lots of shade under the two large trees especially welcome on very hot days. Alan managed to enjoy some painting but as always with holidays time passes quickly.
"We have enjoyed our week here in mainly sunny and hot weather. very comfortable accommodation in a traditional cottage sited in a pleasant rural hamlet. Surrounding area "rolling" countryside very suitable for us aged cyclists. We also had a lovely meal (via Maureen) and not forgetting the taxi service."
