L'Etoile du Sud is in a tranquil setting of two acres of olive and fruit trees, with stunning views of the village and Maures hills, minutes from the village. If you're looking for somewhere special for family or friends then this is it. Beautiful Provencal villages, St Tropez and beaches 40-45min, vineyards, golf, watersports, horse-riding, family entertainment - all nearby. 1 hour Nice and Toulon airports, Marseille 1hr 20min. HEATED 10 X 5 M Saline pool+electric security cover June-Sept. The villa is furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard for easy home from home type living. It's light and spacious and sleeps 6 people comfortably. Child's z-bed and/or cot also available. Central Heating and duvets for cooler months. SKY TV, DVD Film Library. Stereo system with CD/Cassette (I-pod compatible). Wall safe. Phone for incoming/outgoing calls + FREE WIFI
Sports: The famous Gorge du Verdon offers Canyoning, Rafting Kayaking, sailing and swimming and beautiful sightseeing. The close lake of St Cassien also offers watersports. Bicycles, tennis courts and crazy golf available at Figanieres (5km) and we believe there's a new riding establishment about 1km out of the village. There are at least 8 golf courses within an hours drive. The nearest is the beautiful 18 hole course at St Endreol, La Motte (10-15mins). St Endreol also has a Day Spa with various treatment packages from €80. The Terre Blanche at the Four Seasons Hotel at Fayence (approx 25 mins) is stunning and now reportedly one of the best in the Provence/Cote d'Azur area. A keen golfing client recommended Taulane as one of the most beautiful he's ever played and with wonderful restaurant. In winter Downhill Skiing available at Praloup, Isola 2000 and Auron (2hrs drive) or more locally at Greolieres (45mins). Ever been gliding? Try it at Fayence. Callas has it's own Tourist Office.
Medical: Callas has a medical centre and dentist. The doctor speaks some English. A general hospital with Emergency department is at nearby Draguignan (15-20 minutes). Nearest Pharmacies are at Bargemon (5mins drive) and Figanieres (10 mins drive).
Wine: There are hundreds of wine Domaines in the region. You'll pass 6 or 7 just driving from the motorway to the house. In the villa is a book 'The Top 100 Vineyards in Provence' which is just a tiny fraction of what's available or read what other guests have enjoyed in our visitors wine book. Dame Jeanne in the village has an enviable selection. Plenty of sampling on offer. Try the Maison des Vins at Les Arcs which is laid out like a library of wine from only the Provence region. They have at least a dozen wines on tasting.

Gorgeous, beautifully appointed house with superb views. Every room has all the right, lovely things in it, the pool sparkles with perfection, and all in all you couldn't ask for more in a French home!

Although it was our second visit and we knew what to expect it was still very difficult after 3 weeks to leave this Little Paradise. The quietness, sublime views and wonderful property layout, along with the weather, food and many nearby attractions simply made us relax, forget the outside world and live the dream. Hope to be back again!
Fantastic Week In France
By Agnieska J on 10-Jun-2016
We just returned from a week holiday in beautiful villa situated in French hills. The villa was clean and well maintained, and description of the place was accurate. The villa manager was very helpful. The property is located near a small village Callas, within relatively short distance from Saint-Tropez (we recommend taking boat from Sainte-Maxime to reach Saint-Tropez), Cannes and Monaco. The drive along the coast in between Cannes and Saint-Tropez was wonderful. There are a few restaurants in Callas serving a local food and some more in the villages situated about 2 miles away. If you fancy a bit of fine dinning we recommend Les Gorges de Pennafort. There were only four of us staying in the villa, hence we have used only two bedrooms, but there is much more space to accommodate more people comfortably. We would definitely recommend this property and would like thank the owners.
Wonderful 10th Anniversary Trip To Provence
By William S on 13-May-2016
My wife and I stayed at L'Etoile du Sud in Callas for a week in late April 2016. Let me first say that we had an amazing trip and the villa exceeded our expectations. I'll break my review into three parts. First-the villa itself. Etoile du Sud is a really charming property! It's an old stone cottage that's been updated and modernized with very nice finishes and furnishings, while maintaining the character of a old Provincial villa. It was just the two of us, and the villa was extremely spacious and comfortable. I would think that a larger family or up to three couples would be very comfortable and not feel cramped at all. The furnishings and beds were very comfortable. We found the kitchen to be much better equipped than most vacation rentals we've stayed at. The outdoor living spaces were very spacious, with a large, pretty pool area and an elegant outdoor dining area. While close to town, the villa feels very private-really can't see any neighbors at all from the property. I think we were the first guests of the season, and everything was in perfect working order and ready for the summer. In my opinion, the pictures in the listing don't do the villa justice-it's roomier and more beautiful than depicted inside and out. Second-the region. Callas is a very small village about an hour north of the Mediterranean coastal towns of Cannes and Saint-Tropez. Its just over an hour from the Nice airport. We found Callas to be really quaint. In April, it seemed pretty quiet (which we love), but it appears that things get pretty busy in July and August! We enjoyed coffee and croissants every morning in town, and ate at most of the restaurants in the village and had some nice meals. Jeanne at the wine shop was great helping us select some nice wines of the area. During the week we visited many small villages around Callas as well as Monaco, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, and the Gorges du Verdon. The area is just so pretty, with landscape that reminds me of a lot of California. We found the locals everywhere to be super helpful and language was not an issue at all for us with little French skills. Finally-the transaction. Debbie and David were great to work with. The contract and information was very complete and professional, and Debbie was quick to answer any questions we had. Gill the local caretaker gave a great orientation and was available for anything we needed. Overall, we were extremely impressed with the entire rental experience!
Can We Book Again For Next Year
By Howse L. on 05-Nov-2015
Thank you so much Debs and David for making such a wonderful place for other people like us to experience the joys of Callas and surrounding area. We had a fantastic 2 weeks in L'Etoile du Sud and were very reluctant to leave when our time ran out. To be honest we hardly moved from the villa, except for food shopping and the local markets, as the house and pool offered everything we needed. The boys were so happy to spend all day in the wonderful heated saline pool and we were equally happy to sit by either reading or soaking up the spectacular views. Our only lengthy time away from the villa was a day trip to Gorges du Verdon which was a huge hit with the boys especially when we took out a pedalo and swum under the waterfalls. We cannot recommend L'Etoile du Sud more highly. A well appointed villa with excellent facilities, perfectly equipped and maintained and well serviced by the very charming and helpful Gill. We will be back!
Wonderful Relaxing 10 Days
By Deborah Sherrington on 19-Aug-2015
We had such a relaxing stay. The house is so well equipped and comfortable. Gill was very helpful and it was good to know she would be there to help if we had questions. We did the walk into town most mornings to collect baguettes and croissants but spent most days by the pool or under the mulberry trees reading. Our son really wanted to visit Monaco so we did a day trip - he was very happy to add another country to his list but I wouldn't recommend it! We went to the Gorge du Verdon twice - it is stunning. The first day we drove around it and the second day we returned to do 'Aqua Randon' ( I think it's called? ) - it was fantastic fun floating down the rapids in wet suits - just the right level of action to thrill all of us from 13 years old to me. That was a day my mum stayed back at the house under the trees! This trip was her first holiday to France - and she was enchanted. She even swam in the pool. There is so much more to see in the area and we would love to return one day. Thank you , Deb, Tom, Daisy, Sam and Marie
Fantastic, Wonderful, Brilliant Etoile Du Sud
By John S on 06-Sep-2014
The villa is very well appointed with 3 good double bedrooms and has fantastic views down towards Callas and across the hills towards the coast. The pool is lovely, and the mulberry tree shaded dining table/BBQ enables full enjoyment of the weather/food/wine of the region. There are good restaurants in Callas, and a Boulangerie for the daily croissant/baguette purchases. The region is growing in reputation for its wines so there are plenty of good wines to taste and drink. We have been back many times and will do again.
5 Magnificent Weeks
By Rowe. I on 30-Aug-2014
We had in previous years spent much of our time in Europe travelling from place to place to catch up with friends and families. This year we decided to stay in one place and invite them to join us for periods of a few days or a week. So we sought a villa which was big enough to accommodate up to three couples, each with their own bedroom and bathroom. L’Etoile du Sud met our requirements perfectly. Not only was it ideally located close to the village of Callas yet very accessible to Nice airport, but the quality of the villa's facilities and equipment were far superior to anything we had previously encountered. L’Etoile du Sud truly is a home from home and not a holiday let. It is often the little things that make a big difference to the pleasure of a holiday and L'Etoile excelled in this area. Not only was there constant hot water for showers and the plumbing gave us no concerns over the whole of the five weeks that we were there, but even the smallest of items like an adequate supply of hangers made us feel that someone had thought about the things we might need. And if we did need any assistance, Gill was always on hand to help. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring all the small villages close to Callas, and we also made excursions to the gorges at Verdon and to St Tropez. But on many days we chose to stay around the villa and the magnificent pool just chatting with friends and relaxing over a glass of local Rosé. In short, L’Etoile more than lived up to all our expectations and gave us by far the most enjoyable and relaxing holiday we have spent so far in France.

What a lovely week. The villa has an elegant but homely feel to it, with everything you could ask for, inside and out. The listing description is very accurate - eg, the mattresses are indeed good quality and very comfortable (something often overlooked in rental properties). The manager, Gill, greeted us on arrival, helpfully popping back a couple of days later with a new bottle of gas for the BBQ. The views from the property are gorgeous, especially down to Callas in the evening when the lights come on in the church bell-tower. There are several outdoor seating areas, including a lovely spot for the dining table, beneath two intertwined mulberry trees, which create both shade and atmosphere. Although we were just two over-worked and over-tired adults (now blissfully relaxed!), we could see that 'Etoile' would work very well for families too. We enjoyed trips to St Tropez, Seillans, Bargemon, Tourtours (especially) and the glorious 'Grand Canyon of Europe', the Gorges du Verdon (if you keep to the Corniche Sublime route, the driving is not nearly as death-defying as we had feared!). Dinner at La Grupie in Callas was excellent, and we also enjoyed La Campana in Bargemon and Les Deux Rocs in Seillans. If you're sufficiently organised to book a good week or so in advance (we weren't!), La Pescalune in Bargemon is said to be excellent (owned by the winner of the French equivalent of Masterchef). All in all, a wonderful, chill-out stay. Highly recommended.
Beautiful French Villa
By Stephen C on 08-Sep-2012
A beautiful well equipped villa with a delightful pool located in a lovely spot with wonderful views. The description given was met in full by the experience and was in excellent condition. We would have no hesitation in recommending this to friends and family as it would be perfect for families with children or couples. Trips to local villages including Bargemon and Bargeme are a must whilst Sunday lunch at Les Deux Rocs is well worth the trip to Seillans. From Callas it was easy to go north to the Gorges du Verdon and south to the coast and St Tropez.
Beautiful Villa With Pool In The Var
By Mark D on 07-Sep-2012
We took our two Mums and two kids (9 & 6) for a wonderful holiday in the South France. Brilliant location if you want to go and get away from it all and discover some authentic french village life. The house and pool were superb and we wished for nothing in terms of equipment. Views and setting simply delightful.
