Fully restored, this 19th century former sea captains residence enjoys stunning south-westerly facing sea views and beyond to the island of Korcula.

The villa is located in the historic seaside village of Viganj (pronounced vee-gan), north of Dubrovnik on the Dalmatian mainland. Being on the mainland, there is no need to catch a ferry to island destinations, saving hours of travel time, especially in peak season. Viganj is opposite the famed island of Korcula, where you can enjoy experiencing the old 12th century walled city - accessible via the little foot ferry that leaves just 100m from the villa.

Viganj has many excellent family run restaurants, serving seafood caught in the bay. The village is also Croatia's premium windsurfing and kiteboarding capital, with great facilities, tuition for beginners and quite a spectical for those on shore to enjoy (the villa's seafront terraces overlook the main areas).

For those wishing to stay closer to shore, the village has delightful little beaches, with boutique bars dotted along the sea edge through the village and beyond.

It's a perfect safe, seaside escape for groups & families.

Just a little about myself and my villa home...I am Richard, the British owner. After buying the property, we spent 3 years of painstaking and dedicated restoration using local craftsmen.

If you choose to come and stay, I can arrange low cost airport (Dubrovnik) transfers to and from the the villa, far cheaper than those offered on line through a general search. Cars can be hired locally for days out. I also offer a free pre-arrival shopping service - just send me a list for provisions you will require for your first evening/breakfast and all will be awaiting you upon your arrival. Groceries simply charged as detailed on the receipt. Complimentary vineyard tour also included, including food!

My sea edge villa home has exposed original stone blending with stylish, contemporary finishings, hi-end sanitary ware & furnishings. Footprints is fully air-conditioned, and heated if you come in the cooler months. The villa actually dates back 2 centuries and its original features have been carefully retained, yet it offers modern elegance in one the most amazing location one would wish to find in Croatia.

You'd fly to Dubrovnik (I can advise about flights and book luxury transfers for you.

My home is right on the sea front, near the 18th century church in the middle of the village so no car is needed, as every facility one requires (beaches, bars, restaurant, shop, water taxi) is no more than 100 metres in either direction.

As well as an IPod Dock, my TV system runs UKTV2GO - a new Internet system provide top UK and International channels.

Of course, there is free wireless Internet all through the villa.

You may be interested to read in the publication - 'The Croatian Adriatic', published by N&N, available on line and a definitive guide to Croatia, that it states in this region's section - 'the houses & bay of Viganj form what is the most beautiful location on the Adriatic'.

The lovely pool is private and is in the rear courtyard, and a good size of 8.3mx 6m. It's surrounded by sun beds & has a locally made stone dining table for all. The villa is fully gated to secure little wandering guests from escaping.

The front of the villa, overlooking the clear and inviting Adriatic is the real unique feature of my villa. A huge terrace, west facing with comfy settee for lounging, and a further stone table and chairs for sunset dining is such a special place to just take in the beauty with your family and friends.

It's worth noting that Viganj hosts the national, and every few words the World windsurfing championships, so from the terrace you can watch the pro's doing there stuff as well as have a go yourself. Tuition is offered on our beach to beginners. If teenagers are in your party, they will love to 'hang out' with the surfers (one of my first photos shows the beach, (with bars for a beer) from where this exhilarating sport can be enjoyed...or just watched!).

I have a wonderful local manager who speaks several languages, and she will assist with any thing you may need during your holiday. She is also responsible for oversees the cleaning, servicing, pool care etc.

Our First Visit...

Our first visit to Croatia and it didn''t disappoint! Viganj is a charming little village with a laid back pace of life! It has lovely bars and restaurants on top of the beach, a bakery, mini market, church and even has a water taxi to take you over to Korcula which is definitely worth a visit! Footprints is a beautiful, spacious villa and its beachfront location gives you the most stunning views of the Adriatic from the kitchen, terrace , master bedroom and roof terrace. Access to the sea is great and we spent several hours sitting on the jetty facing the villa taking in the breathtaking views and watching the windsurfers, yachts and other boats come and go. The villa is modern, stylish, very well equipped and has a beautiful pool area with barbecue, comfortable seating/dining area to enjoy in the evening after a day of paddle boarding or kayaking (hired from Water donkey which is only 7 min stroll from villa) in the crystal clear water in the bay. The large complimentary welcome pack was a nice surprise, especially as our flight arrived late so we had snacks/drinks provided on arrival at the villa. The climate here is great as there is a constant breeze making it feel cooler than it actually was and Fani (housekeeper) was very helpful with local information and responded to texts very quickly. All in all an amazing week at this lovely villa in a beautiful part of Croatia and we hope to return soon.

We are beyond pleased to have picked Footprints for this holiday. Nestled right in front of the water, we could not have asked for a better villa. It was an absolute delight the entire time we were there. With plenty of room, the villa was spacious with 5 bedrooms+5bathrooms, pool, AC rooms, large kitchen for cooking and entertaining, outdoor chill areas and indoor/outdoor formal dining table with ocean view. It always has a free car park on the side, which comes handy if you drive to the villa yourself. The cute little village, Viganj, is filled with charm. Cute little restaurants on the water, a beach bar, roadside fruit-vendors, and a great bakery nearby. We did some water activities (windsurfing, kite surfing, kayaking) but if you are a beach guy like myself, you can soak all day in your private pool or the beach, just outside your front door. The attentive host added an extra layer of warmth to our experience, making us feel truly welcome. Their thoughtful recommendations enriched our trip, leading us to discover hidden gems and exciting activities we might have otherwise missed (Be sure to book a water taxi to Korcula, for a day. It is a must.) Our time at this villa was nothing short of extraordinary, and we left with cherished memories of an unforgettable stay. Thank you for having us. Highly recommended!!!

Richard has designed a wonderful space perfect for two families or a group. We loved the different terraces and areas to eat and relax, the pool was great fun and the proximity to the sea and the local shops and restaurants second to none. Viganj is a very special place with the perfect mix of activities as well as a really laid back vibe, access to Korcula was easy and we loved the town. Fani helped to make the trip and was on hand with any queries, a highlight was the excellent boat trip she organised with Goran. We all had such a great time swimming from the boat and a delicious BBQ meal onboard with lots of homemade wine! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Villa to friends and really hope we can return one day.
