Apartment in Pestana, Alto Golf, Alvor, Western Algarve - In A Peaceful Location With Minimal Traffic (No Through Public Road), No Smoking

This apartment which was constructed by Mowlem in 2002 is furnished to a high specification as a second home and it is centrally located on the completed Pestana Alto Golf Complex. It is within 200 meters of the Golf Club House and it offers a peaceful front line golf location which is ideal as a holiday location close to Alvor and all the amenities of the area.
It is one of 4 such apartments contained in a detached building and the adjoining ground floor apartment is also owned by the same family for guests requring additional accomodation for friends or family. The buiding is surrounded by landscaped gardens togeher with a private swimming pool (for use by 4 such blocks). The location is approximately a 10 minute walk from the coast, and a stunning sandy beach, and is only 2km away from both Alvor and the town of Portimao. Guests have a 40% reduction in Green Fees at the Pestana run Alto Golf Course, and there is a Health Club with all facilities located within 1km. The apartment has the mandatory Portuguese Health & Safety Rental Certificate (3207/AL) and there is no gas in the building. Coast/Beach: The apartment is located close to what is widely considered as the most beautiful beaches and coastline of the Algarve. The nearest stunning sandy beach (called the Presidents beach since a the Portuguese President's Summer residence is located there), is only 10 minutes walk away and this links via a coastal or shoreline walk (at low tide) into the extensive Vau and Praia da Rocha beaches which eventually end at the Marina and breakwater which forms the entrance to the river Arade.

Travel: Faro airport is linked to the Western Algarve via a motorway (which extends up to Lisbon and also into the eastern Algarve and hence Spain/Gibraltar) and the apartment is approximately a 45 minute drive away. A taxi from the airport will cost approximately €60 each way. It is recommended that a car is hired (either at the airport or locally after arrival) especially if the area is to be properly explored and advice on this can be provided.

Distances: There is a good bus service available and a train service from Portimao (which extends from Lagos in the west along to the eastern Algarve close to Spain and also up to Lisbon). Car hire does of course give much more flexible access with both Alvor village and Portimao town being about 5 minutes drive away. These locations provide access to a wide range of shops and hypermarkets and Retail outlets. The picturesque sea front town of Lagos, the Monchique mountains, and the ancient town of Silves involve a 20 minute drive.

Further Details: Alvor is an atmospheric and much loved fishing village located on an extensive estuary which provides a fantastic vista and includes a wild life sanctuary. This aspect can be viewed from a long waterside promenade. The region also has an extensive sandy beach. A maze of cobbled and narrow streets contain houses which are largely occupied by local inhabitants together with many restaurants some of whom barbecue fish on the pavements. In the surrounding area from the apartment numerous other restaurants can be visited to suit all tastes and budgets. For example Portimao is principally a Portuguese working town and it is an easy matter to eat where the locals do at much less cost.

Details are provided in the apartment (and on the disc supplied by post) of restaurants and the many leisure activities in the area which are kept updated. It is also possible to book many organised excursions (Seville, Lisbon, Gibraltar etc) from travel shops in Alvor.

Metered Taxis are easy to acquire and fares are reasonable (€5 from the apartment into Alvor for example) and the Golf Club reception, just a very short walk away, will call one if required.

Cash Machines are readily available outside banks and inside the majority of both small and large supermarkets. English is widely spoken in shops, bars and restaurants in the area. Contact for free disc of pictures of both the area and the apartment.

The apartment is offered as strictly non smoking. Full air temperature heating and cooling by separate remote controlled units located in each bedroom and the lounge/diner. Cavity wall insulation and 2 self draining dehumidifiers enable comfortable occupancy throughout the year. The choice of 2 covered terraces provide the necessary shade for dining and relaxing in the summer months. Mosquito screens are incorporated in both the bedroom and lounge/diner rooms. The ground floor storage room which is adjacent to the dedicated parking can be used for golf clubs and beach items. A cot can be provided if requested at additional cost, feeding chair included. Toddlers do need supervision on the front terrace because of the railings and the slide and stack windows. Note that the adjoining apartment is owned by the same family. Guests are provided with a key to the lock up for storage of cases/golf clubs and are welcome to utilise the childrens toys stored there. Broadband & Internet TV. Outside: The delightful covered front terrace has elevated views over the golf course and the Monchique Mountains. The high quality outside furniture consists of a 3 piece suite with a glass top coffee table a a 6 seater glass top dining table. The rear terrace is also equipped with a 6 seater table and leads directly into the landscaped gardens with the low occupancy shared swimming pool. This pool is some 60 meters away and incorporates a childrens section. It is equipped with furniture so the area is ideal for sunbathing. Utility Room: Hall cupboard contains vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board, clothes airer and the electric thermostatically controlled water heater. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen, towels for apartment and beach/pool use provided. Price includes end of week change. Daily maid service available at own cost. Other: Superb covered front golf facing terrace (26m2) with slide and stack windows, fully equipped with high quality external furniture (see below). Covered rear garden access terrace (16m2) with external furniture. A Storage room which is located adjacent to the allocated parking space.
Booking Notes - please note that the quoted prices for the apartment are on a 7 night basis with a minimum stay of 4 nights. Prices are pro rata for any length of stay required.
Guests may choose start and finish dates as required.
Booking confirmation requires a 10% deposit with the balance payable 4 weeks before the arrival date.
The cost includes water and electricity and linen/towel changes together with Broadband and Internet TV for both UK and Irish and Continental Channels together with Sky and BT Sports. Occupancy in excess of 10 days includes a mid term linen change and kitchen/bathroom clean.
Please note that for an occupancy of 14 days a 10% reduction in the weekly rate applies for the second week (excluding June,July and August). Also for a 2 person only occupancy a 10% reduction on the weekly rate applies (May to Sept only).
Booking dates are flexible as are arrival and departure times at the apartment and these will depend on the actual bookings involved for the particular dates.
In general occupancy will always be available after 2pm on the arrival day and the apartment needs to be vacated by 11am on the day of departure.
Cancellation Policy - a 50% refund is given for a cancellation of more than 14 days before the check in date. A 50% refund applies for a cancellation made prior to the final balance being paid ( ie. 50% of the 10% initial deposit).

The apartment was excellent with everything you need, it was very clean and comfortable. The pool and gardens are well maintained and lovely place to relax. The apartment was in a quiet location, was approx 15 mins walk to the nearest beach which was very clean and ideal for families. A further 10 mins walk along the beach took you to 5 bars which also served food. (You could walk along the roads to these as well and it took about 25mins) You needed to get a taxi or drive to destinations and restaurants further away. The owners where very helpful supplying lots of information beforehand including directions to the apartment. The maid service we had as we stayed for 2 weeks could also not be faulted. i would stay there again

This was our fourth visit to this lovely and very well equipped apartment which just about says it all. We are lucky enough to travel a fair amount and we prefer to stay in apartments as we like the space and freedom they offer. This apartment is by far the best and most luxurious we've stayed in, It is extremely well maintained, beautifully clean and spacious, The beds are very comfortable and because it is quiet and peaceful we always sleep well. We love the view of the well-maintained golf course from the front terrace which has the benefit of a clever wall to wall folding window system which means you can either choose to have them closed for warmth in the autumn/winter or open in the summer, The back terrace at ground-level overlooks a lovely garden where we like spotting some unusual birds. The pool is a good enough size to swim and that too is well looked after and clean. The sunbeds are comfortable and we've never yet seen many people around the pool. I would say a car is essential - there are so many super places to visit.

We stayed for two weeks in August. This is a beautiful apartment in a lovely location, the apartment has everything you would. Colin and Val were extremely helpful and provided all information in advance of our stay.We couldn't recommend this apartment more highly, a home away from home.We had an excellent holiday.

The apartment more than lived up to its description- it was immaculate and had everything that we could wish for as a family provided . There were children's toys etc for the beach / pool , a very helpful list of local restaurants and attractions. The apartment was extremely clean and well maintained. It had everything required for a lovely relaxing family holiday! We hope to return again as we all had such a great time in the apartment and Alvor itself.

We stayed in this apartment in 2014 and decided to return again (same week) in 2015. We were not disappointed. The apartment is immaculately maintained and offers everything that we wanted - it's still a home from home. An outstanding beach for cleanliness and safety, enhanced by a small beach café, is only 5 minutes away by car (or alternatively a brisk 10 minute walk) and there is plenty of parking to make life easier for families. Finally, the apartment itself sits overlooking the fairway of a golf course where you can watch the world go by in comfort with a evening glass of wine. In sum, sitting in well maintained grounds and with a delightful shared pool, this apartment ticks all the boxes - especially for the location, which is pleasantly quiet adjacent to the golf course and yet close enough to Alvor for eating in the evening. We plan to book again next year - that has to be the best compliment that we can pay it.

“An excellent equipped and maintained appartement with fast Internet Access" We are a couple from Germany. The Algarve and Alvor is our holidays destination since years and we have found the ideal place with this apartment. It is super maintained and equipped, especially the fast Internet access via LAN/WLAN is necessary for us and works perfectly. It can also be used for Internet TV and thus German channels can also be received. The apartment is located in a quiet cul-de-sac directly at the Alto golf course, ideal for golfers like us. We hope we can make holidays at this place further very long and can really recommend this apartment, although we wanted to keep it secret, this lovely place”

We’ve just returned from our third visit to this lovely apartment and already making plans to go again as it is quite simply the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in – a real home from home. Furnished, decorated and equipped to a very high standard the apartment is large and squeaky clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Fast, reliable broadband access is very important to us as we need as need to keep up to date with our business at home and this year we were pleased to discover that we could also watch BBC and ITV channels on the owners huge flat-screen TV, live through the internet. This is a chill-out holiday for us and we love the peace and quiet enjoying breakfasts on the covered balcony watching the golfers and in evening when the sun moves around we sit on the terrace overlooking the lovely gardens. The swimming pool which was surprisingly warm, though only 40 yards away, is around a corner masking any noise which might occur from children playing – although it has always been extremely quiet when we have visited. Out and about we particularly enjoy our trips to the nearby fishing village of Alvor for the huge variety of restaurants (mainly fish), super ‘boutique’ shopping and enjoying a drink watching the fabulous sunsets. This year, having been recommended by friends in the UK, we booked a table three months ahead, at possibly the best restaurant in the Algarve, ‘Ruccola’ – the lamb shank and the steaks are to die for. Lagos, Silves and Tavira are also great places to visit – we can’t wait to go back!

We had a most enjoyable break in Alvor and we were delighted with the apartment. The facility is clearly very well cared for, as are the grounds, and we cannot fault what you offer there - from the balcony (watching variable handicap golfers on a narrow fairway!) to the beds, which were very comfortable. Not always the case with holiday apartments. The level of facilities and equipment provided makes it a real home from home. All in all we cannot recommend your apartment too highly and even the information pack that you provided was very good - even for late arrivals at 2230 when it was dark (thank you BA!). It will be hard to beat this apartment for location & facilities at this price. We plan to return - best compliment that anyone can pay.

I had such an enjoyable time on my recent break - I shall certainly be returning. This property was perfect. A beautiful apartment of an extremely high standard, decorated with an eye to detail, fully equipped for all my needs, in a calming pale palette of white, cream and grey - not forgetting an authentic Portuguese influence. I was very impressed. Each morning I would wake up to the amazing views of the 10th fairway at this desirable Alto golf resort, in perfect peacefulness. At the rear of the property, a few paces, through beautiful lush tropical landscaped gardens, you find a swimming pool with children's pool and terrace- ideal for days just chilling at the resort.... This coast line of the Algarve, in my view, is certainly the most attractive. Within a few miles of the apartment you could enjoy some of the most stunning views and rock formations, white sandy beaches and the ability to swim in warm Atlantic waters - which was a real treat. I was impressed with the small town of Alvor, just a short distance away. You could easily loose hours just browsing the local cork products, jewellery and fashionable shoes and clothing on offer! The selection of restaurants would certainly suit all tastes. I made sure I took the advice from the holiday pack CD documentation supplied by the hosts (which I might add was very well put together and detailed) on where I could enjoy the best freshly caught sardines, and further afield on the mountain roads the famous Piri-Piri Chicken! I have already recommended this apartment and resort to friends and family and am busy sorting out my schedule for my return trip! Top marks!

This was our second year at alto golf and as with our initial visit in 2012 we were not disappointed. It is like home from home. The attention to detail is excellent - everything you could want or need is in the apartment. The apartment is in a quiet complex and from the minute you arrive you begin to relax. The owners were more than helpful with information which was and has been a great help to us as family. Recommendations for restaurant,places to visit,tips on travel arrangements was invaluable. The owners have some excellent neighbours in Paul and Breda who were very helpful. The new aqua shopping centre nearby is a big plus for those seeking retail therapy. We will be back for 2014 and are counting the days to going back - thank you for been so hospitable to your guests as it is greatly appreciated.

My partner and I stayed at the property for a late summer break. The accommodation was excellent - well maintained, beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard. It was also fully equipped with everything one might want in a holiday let. The location is perfect. An upmarket development in an exclusive golf resort, with the apartment being situated right alongside the 10th fairway set in pretty gardens. A swimming pool with children's pool is shared by just a small number of neighbouring apartments and is located just one minute's walk away. The location is tranquil and attractive but the many restaurants and other attractions of Alvor are just a short distance away. The closest beach is a short walk away but we found it worthwhile to drive for five minutes to reach some stunning beaches. If anything, the listing description understated the attractiveness of the accommodation. Not only was the accommodation well decorated and maintained but the provided maid service was of a high standard. We particularly liked the small touches and attention to detail. For example, the owners had taken trouble to produce a CD giving details of all the recommended local restaurants, sights etc. This proved to be a very reliable guide and was obviously regularly updated by the owners. We would both heartily recommend this property. Any complaints? A few more bottle of vinho verde in the fridge would have been perfect!!

The cleaning/maid service was completed quickly and without being a disturbance. The owner provided a very efficient customer service answering any queries quickly and supplying any extra information that would help with our stay. I would highly recommend this property to both friends and relatives as a fantastic place to stay if visting Portugal. Relaxing by the pool. Walking to the beach for swimming and sunbathing. Restaurants to try Big Reds restaurant for steak. Atrium 53 and Vagabondo in Alvor.

We have stayed in this apartment at least four times in the past ten years and returns are always a great recommendation. It is a great complex so peaceful and picturesque sitting on the balcony, overlooking the golf course with the mountains in the distance. The standard of accommodation is very high (a home away from home) and the owners have really thought through all the little "extras" that ensure you settle quickly. The listing description is very accurate and the property is very clean and well maintained. If you have any queries the owners go out of their way to help you. Alvor is a delightful fishing village that still retains some of it's own character. There is an abundance of good restaurants which the owners have helpfully reviewed and provided feedback on.

what a wonderful location for golfers, located at the 10th fairway of Alto golf. It's wonderful having breakfast on the beautiful terrace watching golfers fighting with the 10th fairway. We had choosen this loaction from the internet because of the pictures and detailed description which seemed to meet our wishes. The first contact (5 years ago) was easy and quickly, the ownsers gave us splendid further informations about the apartment facilities and surroundings. The first visit then exceeded our expectations. It is a very well maintained and equipped apartment. The owners are very kind and helpful to us non native-speakers as well as the neighbours and friends of the owners at this property (best greetings to Paul and John) We love this peaceful environment for relaxing and we appreciate to have only a short distance to Alvor and Portimao for going out (our favorite restaurant is A Ribeira at Alvor harbour), for shopping, for walking on the beach - there are wonderful beaches! And we like also the beautiful Monchique mountains, reachable in about 20 minutes by car. This perfect property became nearly our 2nd home, we would like to come back each year!
