Description

An elegant, traditionally built, country villa with unparalleled panoramic views to the south and west over the sea and beautiful countryside, off the beaten track and built to catch the cooling breezes.

Sleeps 6 -10. Private swimming Pool and large terrace. The house can be rented either as a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house, or (to include the upstairs apartment) 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms; different prices apply.

Just one hour from the airport and close to the busy fishing/sailing port of Fiskardo in the north, with its many attractive tavernas, shops and mini-markets. ‘The Olive Tree’ is situated on the western side of the Erisos peninsula at the northern end of the island, amid the wooded countryside on a hill overlooking the sea.

The house has 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one en-suite) and a large living room with a well-equipped kitchen. There is a large dining area and comfortable sitting space with a Smart TV, DVD and CD player, with French windows opening onto the spacious terrace and swimming pool.

There is also a separate apartment upstairs with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, again with a large kitchen/living space similar to downstairs. This apartment will only be available to those renting the rest of the house, affording the opportunity to have a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house for larger families or two families sharing. Each bedroom (as downstairs) has its own balcony with wonderful views.

The villa is set in a typical Mediterranean half-acre garden, with an 800 year-old olive tree (after which the villa is named), and many attractive plants. However, it is the views that set the house apart, with magnificent sunsets to be appreciated in the peace and quiet of the evenings. The nearest beaches have excellent tavernas and are only 15-20 minutes walk (or 3 minutes by car).

At A Glance:
Air-conditioning in 4 bedrooms
Linen and towels provided (not beach towels)
House cleaned mid-week
Cot, playpen, high-chair available
Free wi-fi
15 minutes walk to nearest beach and taverna
Rural, peaceful location with wonderful views to the sea
15 minutes from Fiskardo

Facilities at The Olive Tree:
There are 3 air-conditioned double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one en-suite), with shower, basin and WC, sleeping 6. Each bedroom has its own balcony. There are hard-wood shutters to all the bedrooms, so the windows can be left open with the shutters keeping the rooms cool.

There is a large kitchen/dining/living area with a cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing-machine. The comfortable living area has a TV, DVD and CD player with a selection of films. Free wi-fi is available. French windows lead out to a large terrace and swimming pool. There is an outside dining area and a gas barbecue.

Upstairs apartment - There are 2 air-conditioned double bedrooms and one bathroom. Again, there are hard-wood shutters to keep the rooms cool during the daytime.
There is a large kitchen/dining/living room, the same size and with the same facilities as downstairs. The living area has French windows to two balconies with the most wonderful views you can imagine.

About Kefalonia:
Kefalonia is a beautiful, wooded, mountainous island, approximately 20 miles long by 16 miles wide. The capital is Argostoli in the south, an attractive bustling town, near which the main tourist areas lie. The north of the island is completely unspoilt with spectacular scenery and uncrowded beaches.

A few minutes from the villa, either by car, or on foot are 2 quiet beaches, Agios Ierusalim and Alaties, both great to explore and each with its own small excellent taverna. On the way to Fiskardo are several secluded beaches, to some of which you may need to walk. Fiskardo is a picture-postcard fishing village and yachting centre with many tavernas and shops. Here there is a post office, ATM, pharmacy and doctors’ surgery.

A few miles to the south is the beautiful village of Assos, with its Venetian castle, pretty beach and group of tavernas. One of the best known beaches (made famous by ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’) is Myrtos beach, said to be one of the top 10 beaches in the world.

From Fiskardo one can hire a small motor-boat and explore the many coves or cross to Ithaca. There is a ‘dive’ school, a caique (traditional Greek fishing boat) from which to snorkel and learn about the marine life, or perhaps an opportunity to take a ferry to nearby Ithaca or Lefkas. There are well-signed walking trails for the more energetic, or you can just sit with a coffee or cold beer and watch the yachts come in and out.

We love the villa. The views are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen, so peaceful too. All the kids love it.

We had the best time we have ever had in Greece. The Olive Tree was just perfect in every way. It was a stunning location, so lovely and private, and no other houses in sight. Gorgeous views, sunsets, tinkling goat bells. What more could we want?

The Olive Tree was wonderful, especially the views. The house was perfectly equipped for our needs and the lunch platter was superb and hit the spot! Your staff were friendly and efficient and we would highly recommend your house, garden and pool.
